Lawl, UNO. I know a lot more people that have UNO than anything, just cause it's an easy game to pick up, and the four person lobby allows you to just chill and talk shit with your friends.

Anytime I'm on it, it's usually never for the game itself (although I admit UNO can be fun) but because a group of people I know are taking a break from Gears or Halo or something else. Play some cards, talk some shit, it's pretty good stuff.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Wow, what the shit is this.

The new dashboard update will allow you to download old Xbox games for $15. What.

"Hey guys, since H2 and H3 sucked, here is the original."

Guess Wii's Virtual Console is dead. Can I get OTOGI 2.

EDIT: Xbox Originals are not without issues - Joystiq

Nevermind. Fuck Microsoft, and fuck Xbox.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It sounds like MS have more or less made ISOs of the game discs that can load from memory rather than a disc. Which is a bit shit if that's the case. Scrap that, it's a lot shit if that's the case.

After a short trip to Google and coming out confused, I wanted to ask if it's possible to download Original Xbox Save Files and run them on your Xbox 360? While I'm all for backwards compatibility, the fact that I'm barred from using my old save files is terrible; thats why I was hoping it's possible to at least be able to download save files and run them on my Xbox 360 (through USB Key, or iPod). Any help would be appreciated.

Only problem I see with this, is the majority of 360 owners are Premium owners and not Elite Owners, and you don't get your full 20GB's of space on your hard drive (about 10GBs). Aren't most original Xbox games around 4 - 8GB's? If so that'd be a big chunk of your hard drive, making it very unappealing in downloading (and on top of that paying for them) classic Xbox games.

I was speaking idiomatically.

From what i've seen, this is only the case (and or option) in certain games. I haven't seen this in games like Gears Of War or Halo 3. Bioshock however, doesn't have screen tearing but if you go to the options and let it run at max FPS screen tearing occurs. Most of the games I've played so far, I haven't seen screen tearing.

Hey I just got an Xbox 360, and I've got a couple of questions

I'd like to do media sharing with my computer, but apparently I can't unless I verify my copy of Windows XP. Unfortunately It's not a 100% legit copy thus I can't use WMP 11. I was wondering if you guys knew any way around that.

Secondly I've tried to connect my iPod to a 360 and apparently it doesn't recognize all of the files. I have about 10K + songs, but it only sees about 8700.

My last question is whether or not you can connect USB hubs to the ports in order to connect more devices?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I just got one too, but I probably can answer a few of them:

1. Media Sharing requires WMP11 or a Zune, so if you don't have a legitimate copy of WinXP, you'll have to transfer that media to the console via some other method (CD/DVD, Music Player, etc.,)

2. I'm not an expert on iPod devices or anything, but I'd probably have the cause as one of two things:

a. Since you have over 10,000 songs, the 360 might not be able to recognize it all, meaning trying to scan all the files left some of them unread due to overload of resources

b. If any of the songs on your iPod are .acc or are riddled with DRM, then they likely wouldn't be recognized since Apple and Microsoft are rivals and IIRC, the Zune and the iPod do not recognize the proprietary formats of either one (.acc and .wma respectively).

3. No idea. In theory it should work, but I don't know, maybe someone else around here does.

Also, my answers may not be 100% correct, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

--edit--
Also, Hello thread! Just got a 360, the one in the middle (Not Elite but not Arcade...is it Premium?).
Games: Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Ace Combat 6, and there were two games includes: Forza 2 and Marvel: UA.

So I was reading some pages back and I noticed IKARUGA is coming to XBLA. Any news on when that comes out?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Dark Nation pretty much answered your questions. But I'd like to add that you should be able to network music/pictures from your computer to your 360 by installing Zune. It doesn't matter whether or not your windows is legit. Heck I've done it on a few friend's computers without a problem. And most of them were using pirated copies of windows.

Oh and as for the usb hub. Yes, from what I've read you can have a usb hub work with a 360. It is only way to have 4 wired controllers work on the same console.

For the love of Jesus, don't install Zune or any of the windows media player shit. Don't. If you do, I'll hunt you down and actually kill you. I'm not even lying.

The 360 is a UPnP device, so many streamers will recognize it. Wanna know one that doesn't suck balls that does?

Important Question, Skills: Using TVersity for example, can I send over songs on my computer over to the 360 so that they are now on the console itself (Instead of just being Streamed)?
Or would I have to use a USB device or DVD/CD?

I'm gonna try out that TVERSITY now, but I just found out a bit more on the iPod issue.

Apparently that's only a problem in-game. When I view it via the dasboard it sees everything. Weird.

There isn't a way to do that, and reripping them leaves you with horribly compressed WMA audio on the console, and takes up hard drive space there.

Well I was just going to take a CD-RW or DVD-RW, put a bunch of high quality mp3 files, burn the disc, stick it in the 360, and transfer the music that way. If nothing else works.

You're saying the 360 doesn't support mp3? ... and why on earth would I ever use WMA?

It won't read a data disc full of music and say "transfer audio". You can stick an audio CD in there and it'll rerip it with it's own WMA encoder, but there's no way at ALL to do what you're proposing.

Streaming like a normal person is by far the best course of action.

Well shit... guess I'll have to make playlists ahead of time to play on the 360

Minor annoyance I suppose, but you'd figure they would be more supportive of such a universal format. Oh wait, this IS microsoft we're talking about. Nevermind.

Hey guys, I've just got a few more questions.

I got TVersity to work (thanks Skills), and currently I can play songs and make playlists via the music tab, but I'm wondering if I can use the Media center selection, what it does and if there's any difference.

Secondly with alot of music navigation can be a bitch. I notice if you use the arrows on the controller it scrolls song by song, but if you connect a USB keyboard and hit page down it does 10 at a time. That's a big help, but I'm wondering if there isn't a better feature that lets me jump to certain songs or artists. Better yet can I create playlists on my PC and have my 360 recognize them?

Next is there any way to tell if my 360 is one of the models with the newer processors in it? I've had it for 3 days and it's frozen at least 3 times. It's in a well ventillated area , so I'm a little nervous.

Lastly I'm trying to find some good 360 games that aren't FPSs. Halo 3 is a must for me, but beyond that I'd like to keep this genre to a minimum. I've been through Gears already and while phenomenal I'm not sure if I want to purchase it (how's the online mode BTW?), and I may try Bioshock, but beyond that the only game that I really want is Mass Effect. Any suggestions?

edit: A couple of more questions. I found out you can change the background by uploading pictures which is cool. I was wondering if there's a way to select a picture for your gamerpic as well? And I see that there's a web browser you can use on the 360 with Win XP media edition, but is there an alternate solution to this as well like TVersity is with files?

It'll recognize the AAC files but only if they aren't riddled with DRM, in order for it to read the AAC encoded songs, you need to download an optional update for the iPod's AAC encoded songs to be read. When you download that update, it'll recognize the AAC, WMV, and MP3. I know this because I tried it once with my Nano and it only recognized a small portion of my songs that were mp3 because I never had the update for it to read the aac encoded songs. It's an optional update that's still in the marketplace for download.

So the FALL UPDATE is out, and I must say, it looks awesome.

Everything looks and responds a lot quicker now. Hell, even response time from pressing the guide button and having the blade load up has been quickened. The marketplace seems faster, the media blade has been reworked very, very nicely (mostly smaller changes, but needed ones), and the DivX support is long overdue. I reset TVersity to include all the anime shit I ever downloaded in AVI form, and it all transfers over beautifully. Hell, the buffer times aren't half bad either.

What do you guys think?

Here's my rundown of my reaction to the Fall Update:

What I Love
  • The new response time for the Guide. It'll take me a while to get used to but DAMN is that sexy.
  • The new UI in the Games and Media blades. Finally moves all of the little blade clutter on the sides out of the way when you're in the menus, and the Games blade FINALLY has a setup that doesn't feel redundant. Granted, Achievements and Played Games are kind of one and the same, but having demos and arcade under that one menu option is GREAT.
  • It FINALLY doesn't ask you what device you want to use for media every. damn. time. It actually REMEMBERS. Hopefully that'll make selecting songs take a lot less time.
  • Overall, everything looks full without feeling cluttered, in all areas of the UI. That's something that's plagued the 360 dashboard and guide since the release, there's been a lot of dead space. Not anymore!
What I Like
  • The new UI for the Games Library. That Twist thing looks kinda neat, but I really wish they would've added a new sound or something to go along with twisting the UI rather than the standard "Boop!" It fits more arcade games on a page now, which is definitely a plus.
  • Xbox Originals. To be entirely honest, the UI for that section is kind of out of left field, but hopefully they'll enable more of those section-specific setups in the future. The idea is neat, hopefully the games run well. I can't buy any today, though, my credit card is broke!
  • Inside Xbox, at least for now. I won't be thrilled if it doesn't get updated a lot, but if it turns out to give some reasonably important news on occasion, I can live with it being on my main dashboard blade.
What I Dislike
  • All those social networking muckamucks. The bio, name, and everything. Sure, it's neat, but do I really have to look at them on my friends list? THAT feels like overkill.
  • Friend of friend list. Sure, it doesn't directly affect me at all, but hell, I'd rather they work on something important.

I'll update tonight, but I hear the Xbox Originals take 3-5GB of space. Unless you've got one of the newer 120GB HDs, that's not really going to be workable.

Any kind of speed up on the menus is welcome.

Wow, that update sure sped up the UI. It's no longer choppy when you bring up the Guide panel in a game. Overall the new interface seems pretty nice so far. It's streamlined enough that it makes things faster without sacrificing options.

Divx support seems pretty good although I'm noticing that the image quality isn't quite as good as the actual Divx codec for the PC (or maybe it was something else I installed that affected that). Some scenes can have more compression artifacts and other general defects in video quality. Still a nice option though, I'm really glad they added support for it.

Oh, and the Xbox Originals take anywhere from 1GB to 4GB of space. Fuzion Frenzy is around 1GB while others like Psychonaughts and I think Fable reach around 4GB. Although why does it look like it's the original version of Fable? Why not The Lost Chapters?

I thought the slower response time for the Blades was intentional, to give it a 'thicker' feel (that each blade has some weight to it), but the faster time is a definite improvement.

As neat as the xbox game downloads are, I don't have THAT much space (20GB Hard Drive, only 13GB USEABLE ), so I'll probably pick up Crimsons Skies on regular in-store version. Nice look on the page itself though, like looking back at the Xbox 1's GUI for a second.

Actually what I wouldn't mind seeing is that they eventually replace all of the tiny Icons for the games with the full covers. Have this done for all the Arcade, Xbox Originals, and so forth. Better then a thumbnail IMO.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
