Hey guys just a question...

I played throught the Japanese game and have yet to play through the English version.

How are you guys / girls liking the game and how does it rank against other FF's? What are your opinions, likes, dislikes?
I think overall it's a great game. IMO the storyline could have been developed quite a bit more, also could have used a lot more dialogue to get to know the characters better. One really good thing is all of the sidequests and obviously the hunts and stuff. Some of it was tedious (creating weapons such as Turnsoul) but was gratifying in the end. I thought the storyline for FFX was better but other than that XII is probably one of the best.

BTW, the ribbon as you have found out does not negate the Esunaguised Shield. You probably won't be hit by any physical attacks but just have to deal with the negative effects.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Not sure if this is bogus about the Zodiac Spear, but I found this little info:

ZODIAC SPEAR #2

"This one is harder to get! It is in the Henne Mines in the 2nd phase dig area, before you fight the Zodiark Esper. Thus to get this Zodiac Spear, you must have obtained at least 10 Espers (the requirement of obtaining Zodiark), or the area will not be opened.

The Zodiac Spear will then be in a chest in which spawns in the 2nd phase area. However, the chest only has small chance of appearing. And smaller chance of containing the Zodiac Spear.

To obtain this Zodiac Spear, you MUST have the Diamond Gauntlets equipped before opening the chest. It will NOT appear in the chest at all, without them equipped. If not equipped, you will only find gil
."

THERE IS a 3rd way of getting it from the Crystal thingy my friend is trying to "translate" the whole faq lol

You talking about The Crystal Grande right? Where you in Giruvegen. If your friend is done translating, please let us know. Definitely curious.

Well right now, I am leveling up my other character to fight Zordiac. I think that was my problem. My 3 main characters are 3 LV away from 90, the other LV13-17. Everytime I switch and try PD, Zordiac is too quick when he gets down to very low power and kills me with 1 hit. Now the other party is at LV35. Probably going to wait till they LV 40 to go back.

Can someone tell me what I should do with the red crystal bug in the Deadlands. I don't have invert.
I don't know about invert, but I've found that the Arcane magic "reverse" works rather well if you keep casting it on yourselves quickly enough. Those nasty little group-magics of his will happily heal your party instead (you should probably have at least two quickenings as well so that you have enough MP to cast it lots).

BTW, nice pic, you need a bow to go with it though :-)

Man....Zodiark is one tough SOB. I cannot beat this Esper. Everytime I get him down to very low HP where he is immune to Physical Attacks, my brain goes haywaire. Why. Well, his immune to magic flickers on and off. Whenever I use Bio, for some reason reflects back to me but the strange thing is, it will say "No Longer immune to magic." Some times I get a hit, sometimes I don't.

How the heck do you beat this MFer? I tried Scathe, but dude is immune to it.

I personally haven't fought Zodiark yet, been a little sidetracked from XII for a few day's. I'm not sure how fast he/she is, especially towards the end when it goes immune like you say. I guess while it doesn't have a magic palling up you could try and triple-cast on it. It's immune to scatche, are you sure it just didn't take down it's magic palling yet? Scathe I believe is non-elemental so it shouldn't be immune to it.

Zodiark is not immune to Scathe, because I killed him with a Scathe mote. Just use it whenever the magical paling is not up, if you can. Using the mote MUCH faster than casting the spell.

Also, check this out. I got bored and created it for a Wikipedia page. I had to take three separate screenshots and stitch them together, but the end result is pretty damn cool:

I put it on the FFXII characters page under "Gerun" and in less than a minute another editor had added it to the Occuria entry in the Races of Final Fantasy page. Sweet.

How ya doing, buddy?

either that or I didn't relize he probable had reflect on. But I definitely know, I use Scathe (similar to what Zordiak uses) and it said several times Immune. Well if you guys are saying "he can't be immune to it" then maybe he still had that magic barrier on?

What I hate is that everytime I chose a magic and Zordiac is no longer immune, it switches to "immune to magic" and its a waste of Magic and MP.

SAGA----the 3 guys are LV87 and the 3 girls are LV37. also that instant Death (Darkja) kick my butt. Once in a while, I'll get healed. Yes, I have 4 blask mask, and 4 Demion shield. One character, I had both Demon Shield and Black Mask on thinking it would give me a better chance but my characters keeps dieing because of (Darkja).

Soldier----Good Luck man when you fight him. You can do physical attack at the beginning. But when his HP are really low, you will see immune to magic and physical attacks as well as him using scathe. His real quick when his HP are very low with immune that switches constantly.

PICCALO-----then he probably had reflect on that backfired on me and killed me. Is there a place where you can buy those Scath Mote?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I don't think you can buy Scathe motes. Hopefully you've been saving the ones you've been getting. (Assuming you've gotten them.)

Well, Only thing I have is Knot of Rust....but I finally beat that SOB this morning about 9:00 am. G-D was he hard. To be honest, what makes him hard is that Darkja and his immune.

What I did was enter his arena with 1 charcater "Vaan." and kept attacking and healing till he begins to use immune, then bring out the other 2 guys. Use 1 to cast Disalaga (Sp) and right when the bar would hit and allow that guy to cast his spell, have the other 2 guys cast Bio. But this only works when he is no longer immune to magic.

Piccaolo ...just kidding. Piccolo, is the best way to defeat Yiazmat the "Reverse-Decoy" Technique?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hey guys the game is coming up for the European release and I wonder, is the game really not that good?Because I asked many US-guys who played the game and they said that they´re disappointed because the battle system sucked and the gambit system was hilarious. Is that true? Could you gimme some of your opinions?

Don't listen to those losers. The gambit system is awesome. In my opinion, the game would be nearly unplayable without it.

There does seem to be a few very loud people on the internet who say they didn't like the battle system (and in that I count the combat and gambit system combined).

Whether they actually found something properly wrong about the system or if they're just huffy about random battles being removed, I'll never know. I also I don't understand how anyone couldn't enjoy such a welcoming, robust, flexible and downright excellent battle system. Maybe they didn't know how to use gambits effectively. Maybe they didn't know how to use them at all. Who knows.

It takes a moment to get used to it (both battle system and gambits), just like the license board, but the more you play, the more it opens up to you and the more you love it. It really is a triumph of design and thought. Effortless and fun, yet offering strategic depth and micromanagement trickery for the most hardcore.

I am a (finnish) gamer who has become seriously jaded and tired of console RPGs as of late. I've had extreme difficulty to get interested in 90% of PS2's jRPG output, but FFXII is not only a glorius reinvention of the series (much like RE4 was), but an exquisitely built videogame. I tend to have a terribly short attention span with any game, and start to pine after other titles while playing something else. I'm now 63 hours into FFXII and I'm not even halfway. I've loved every second of it and it's more than deserving of every game of the year award it's been given or nominated for.

The chances of you not enjoying the system are very slim, unless you are an incurable purist (in the worst sense) or hate all videogames out and out.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Thirding what Piccolo and Quarky said. I honestly don't understand why people dislike the gambit system, but if you really hate it that much, you can just turn it off. It's so freeing to be able to walk through vast world maps without fighting battle after battle, and in the harder fights, not having to worry so much about healing and reviving, and being able to focus instead on battle strategy.

I agree with all of that. The development of the gambit and new battle system not only save time on fights, but it allows for the player to that much more involved with your party. By having the gambit system you have so much control over them, without having to imput commands every second. It's not like you just sit there and watch the fights role by either. In many cases you will have to input a different command they may not have been set up in your gambit's. All in all the new battle system is revolutionary and brings the FF series up another notch when many probably thought it wasn't possible. Great game, one of the best FF's ever.

Right. As a post I made about a month ago was left unanswered, I'll ask again:
Guys, if you get a bit of time in between blitzing the game () draw up a list of things you expect (or at least hope) to be tweaked in the european version. Judging by some of the comments over the last hundred-odd pages, there seems to be a fair few of them (even if they're only minor).
So basically discuss any problems that you think need to be ironed out for the EU release, be it glitches/crashes/translation errors etc.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Man I am PO right now....I was fighting Yiazmat got him down to 1 bar with only 1 Mega-elixer left. So I went into the tunnel to heal my characters cause they were getting Murdered and next thing I know from 1 bar left all the way to 6 bars. I was WTF??? I had to abandon the fight. That Pissed me off. I had 52 eithers, 4 elixer, 4 Mega Elixer and 3 high either. I was using the Reverse-Decoy Technique. Man does that drain your MP fast.

I see now why you guys say, when you get down to 4 bars, he is almost impossible to beat. The problem is, he gets alot quicker, defense is up and does this 1 lung that takes your whole HP away (Not talking about Death Strike). What also Pissed me off, when I was in the tunnel healing and comback to fight, he would use Death Strike (that automatically kills you). Is there anyway to counter that?

Now, I am LV up to 99. When I was fighting him, I was at LV 87 doing 6,999 damaged. I need to get stronger.

PICCOLO---about the mote, I found you can buy a Warp Mote in Rabanaste in the Bazaar and Knot of Rust. Haven't found the other though.

The translation of FFXII is impeccable... the best dialogue I've seen in a game.
Seriously, you'll probably learn a few new obscure words from this game.
