Too bad Zero is the easiest in the series.

Can somebody tell me what the controls are? I haven't been able to figure them all out.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
R1 = accelerate (hold down hard for afterburners)
L1 = brake L2 and R2 = Yaw left and right X = fire guns Triangle = switch targets (hold to center camera on target) O = fire missiles (hold to have camera follow missile to target. Be careful to aim aircraft skyward to avoid collisions) Square = show enlarged radar view (use for easy navigation) SELECT = toggle to special secondary weapon R3 (press joystick like a button) = change camera view (1st person, cockpit, 3rd person) L3 = Targeting reticle (postion desired target in this reticle to make your new target. Useful for when multiple targets are in front of you, you can target specific ones) START = pause menu. Right Joystick = roll and pitch aircraft Left Joystick = move camera around aircraft Most amazing jew boots ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
Anyway, what do you guys think about the music of Zero? Me personally, it's really starting to grow on me. Some songs like, "The Inferno", "Excalibur" "Avalon" "Glacial Skies" and "Zero" are just amazing. I even pre-ordered the soundtrack, I like it so much lol. I find these songs to actually more of an epic feel. That's just me though. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Spoiler:
Don't even think about using the TLS or burst missiles against the bigger Ace squadrons. They aren't nearly as useful as you'd expect them to be. By the time you've managed to line the laser up on one guy, three other planes will be shooting at you, and that equals pretty much instant death on Expert and Ace. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Will I get any use out of the machine gun? I can't seem to hit with it at all.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
There's a return line right (or is it gone in Ace mode?)? A cheap way to beat it would be to fire a burst missile (which will only do some damage, but they can't dodge it so it's a guarunteed hit) and then cross the return line to restock. The laser is useless? Damn. So what did you use to beat it with? Do you think the F-22 could be used to beat Ace mode?

Same here. Can't wait for the soundtracks release. I expected it to be just as awesome as it is, since Ace Combat has always had some pretty stellar music. Outside of what you listed stuff like "B7R", "Contact", "Diapason", and "The Final Overture" are also worth high mention. In fact, pretty much the whole thing is one big awesomefest. Diapason and Zero are definetly my two favorite tracks. Honorable mention to "Waldreich Mountains" and "Gelb" for being absolutely wonderful in their mood setting. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() #654: Braixen |
ACZ soundtrack: When I first heard it I thought that it was pretty standard Ace Combat music with nothing too special about it, but it's grown on me. I love "the Roundtable" and "Mayhem". I also dig the slighty retro sound of "Gladisant". Sythesizer woot! I like it more than 5's soundtrack now, it's really good stuff. BTW, does anyone have the guitar music that plays durring the intro cutscenes to the ace pilot interviews? You know, when it show's their squadron emblem and the narrator names them and talks about them before the interview starts. FELIPE NO ![]() [ MOBIUS ]

After trying the F-22, the X-02, the Su-37 Terminator, and the Falken, I wound up using the ADFX-01 with ECMP. I'm not sure how useful ECM is, though it makes it a lot less nerve-wracking when you're trying to kill that jammer that pops up with Schnee squadron. The ECM doesn't last long at all and you only get a few charges for it, so you still need to know how to dodge and get away from other planes, of course. The laser does kill ace squadron planes instantly. I just don't use it, since trying to line the thing up without getting at least one other plane on your tail is nearly impossible, and one missile kills you on Ace. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Well if you just stay near the return line they'll all come to you. That's what I did for AC04's final mission on Ace difficulty. They would do some damage with bullets and I would just go back over the return line and repair it because I was always close to it. Kind of cheap, but effective. It also helps break the tension a bit since when you return from rearming everyone is in a different place (i.e. they're not on your tail).
Does the ECM actually deflect missiles like Pixie's did? Like missiles can't hit you at all while it's active (it stays active for like 3 seconds doesn't it?). Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
Ace Combat 06 to have a custom paint and decal editor, ala Rage Racer.
You heard it here first. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I wish. That would totally rock.
::Flies Pacman paint scheme F-22 to Namco to confirm:: All I know is that Six BETTER friggin' have online multiplayer (and optional third person view to boot) or I'm going to nuke the world! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
Well since Sony has a rival now [Mircosoft], they'll have to compete in the online gameplay wars. Trust me, the PS3 will have an online capability...it's just up to Namco to see if it can do it with Ace Combat. I think they can. I think the only obstacle for Namco would be running a server for 'battlefields' and for players to go in and fight. I've always thought how amazing it would be to get your AC friends and play all at once in one huge squadron of online players and fight against another huge squadron of online players in one huge air battle.
Hmmm, an online battlefield taking place at B7R, The Round Table....your friends picking a squad of Su-37s and going in to help your main online squad. Hehehe...man, that would be...ethereal. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Ace Combat online would be to me what Counter-strike and Halo are to everyone else gaming online.
It would also be cool to have different modes. Instead of just dogfighting, there could be two sides with certain objectives. Perhaps there could be a mode where one team has to destroy a super weapon like Excalibur or the XB-0 and the other team defends. Or an all-out ground war where both sides compete to eliminate enemy ground units first (as well as protect their own units). Maybe a capture the flag where the flag is inside Avalon dam or Megalith or something. I envision a massively multiplayer online air war going on 24/7 where every campaign mission is also an online multiplayer mission. How cool would this be? You chose to join a country (Belka, Ustio, Osea, Sapin, ect.) and fight for victory. Every time your country wins a war, you get a medal or points or something. You purchase aircraft by aquiring a certain number of points online. Namco needs to be listening right now. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
Hopefully the whole custom paint job and squadron thing would be a reality too. That'd be TOO fun. Awesome Squadron tearing it up, eh Tails? As far as the soundtrack is concerned, I can't get enough of The Stage of Apocalyspe. I could rock out to this all day. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I love all the ideas you guys are coming up with, it sounds like it would be awesome for online multiplayer, which is what i've been hoping since part 4. The only bad thing that I can think of is that lag will really suck when the servers can't keep up: like you'll shoot a missile and the person in front of you will dissapear and suddenly appear behind you, and then you'll die because of lag.
I hope not, but it's happened in other games. As far as the versus mode is comprised off, I think it would be great if there wasn't just like "join random server" and randomly start shooting anything on sight. It would be better if it was organized and when you join the battlefield, you join as reinforcements for the dogfight. Defensive battles would really suck because once the other players aquire the target, if even for a split second, there's nothing they can do to stop that missile. So really it's only a matter of time before they destroy it all. Reminds me of something like unreal tournament assault and defend. FELIPE NO ![]() |
Yea, lag would be a concern of mine as well...hopefully between the Ps3's power, and the ethernet cable connection that's with it...it will keep things as stable as possible. And like Mobius One said, it would be nice to have varied online missions as well. Bombing missions, Escort Missions, CTF...etc etc.
As for versus mode...to be honest I hope in the next AC installment, that they'll have the third person and/or cockpit view instead of the HUD view as being the only selection to play. I only like using HUD during tight space missions such as Megalith, Avalon..etc. And for the record...I am having such a blast discussing and agreeing with you guys on this particular forum. Seriously, i've been to the other popular AC sites such as AC.net [which is ACskies now] and hell, even the Namco forum. I gotta admit...most of those people there are either ignorant as hell with saying crap like "OMG, MOBIUS ONE IZZ DA BESTT, HIM AND BLAZE KNOW EACH OTHER" or "NAGASE WOULD BE HOT NEKKID" or you have these opinionated Right-Wing military kids who just don't get the core stories of these games, and just have all this fake patriotism going around. It's so aggrevating, and...weird to see THESE type of fans flocking to this game. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Just re-played mission 10 with a Mercenary rank, did anyone else notice that Heartbreak One made an appearance? As well as mention of Pops from the Schwarze squad? Nice little continuity, and neat easter egg for those whose played AC5.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
outside of a 1v1 dm or co-op, online for Ace combat would not work well. Imagine 16 planes in a server, just doing loops and turns the whole time. It would get boring and repetitive. Co-op/Assault would be awesome though, taking on excalibur or megalith with a squadron of human players would be awesome.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Maybe they could take an RE: Outbreak approach with the online mode. Eg. Have the option to go through the story online or offline. I think it'd be fun, going through the actual story with real wingmen, as opposed to the often useless AI ones (I'm looking at you PJ).
Though, I can see this backfiring storywise. As the AC story always focuses on the player as being the Ace of the game. Most amazing jew boots |
I have to say though, this is the most difficult AC mission I've ever played. You really have to stay on your toes if you want to make it through alive ![]()
How ya doing, buddy? |

It's the little things they do that make me love this series so much. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() #654: Braixen |
Too bad shooting down Pops doesnt give you "Time Paradox":eyebrow:
