Yeah I know RARE left Nintendo and all, but DK's still Nintendo's property and Nintendo can make great platformers so why the hell do we not have a full out DK title on the GC? Yeah Junglebeat was a nice little novelty but it was short and well... a novelty.

Why no real DK game yet?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I fully support this action. I would re-purchase a SE cube if it had Dk on it.

Grubdog's going to give you a mouthful on this.

So will I.
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is the most fun I've had with a 2D (and arguably 3D) platformer since the SNES. Easily. The game is tight, virgin videogame-sex.

Edit: I would also argue that it's at least on par with DKC, if not better. Then again, aside from the awesome platforming I love the intensity of beating off bongos like a madman.
Only flaw I'll admit to in JB is the repeat bosses, and that didn't bother me too considerably. I like my bosses, though, and that did bother me some.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You know, it's cool and all that you like DK Jungle Beat. I even played it and had a blast. It's a good game.

However, playing a music DK game when you really want to play a platformer DK game is quite the predicament, isn't it.

Simple. DK's too kiddy. Hence all the GameCube Donkey Kong games requiring you to furiously beat off with a bongo. Sex sells. Mature gaming and all.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I've heard talk of a DK release for the Rev, and I believe I also heard that Mayamoto may be taking the reins for this project.

Probably never, considering that the Gamecube's almost permanently dead.

Seriously, how many games will the Gamecube see in 2006? The release list I've seen shows a few so-so titles, and a bunch of titles like Spiderman and X-men which are clearly just a cash-in from movies. Every developer is preparing for the Revolution, so there's no time for the poor old Gamecube now.

In comparison to the xbox and PS2's release list, it's quite patheticdepressing. It's possible that there will be a 2D, or 3D (lol) Donkey Kong game made for the Revolution, and it'll be used with that.. uh, Revolution remote. So I guess it's a novelty all around.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is not only a full real DK platformer on the Gamecube but also the greatest game of all time.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is NOT a music game, that's Donkey Konga.

Play Jungle Beat. Miyamoto worked on that, as well as Tezuka. Tokyo EAD (developers of DKJB) is made up of all the best Nintendo developers, it's the Nintendo dream team, and i'm looking forward to their next project. Even a few devs from all around the industry from Capcom / Namco / Square-Enix moved there.

This thread is horrible!

Miyamoto hated the DKC games the Rare released for the SNES, so I'm anxious to see how he'll attempt to build a DK platformer that meets his expectations.

No shit he hated them. This is because Miyamoto is a man of high tastes. When you take away the graphics, the DKC games are amoungst the sloppiest most mundane platformers on the Super Nintendo. Actaully that's a bit harsh but they really didn't offer anything particuarly special and paled compared to Nintendo's own platformers.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is how they should have always been and I applaud EAD Tokyo for just throwing away all of Rare's sub par characters and locations.

Look, Junglebeat's great and all but it was damn short. The use of the kongas was also a nice change. However the game felt more like a really successful and fun side experiment as opposed to a full fledged and true sequel.

Get an average of 3000 beats on all the stages then tell me it's short...

Alright, what do you want a sequel to. Donkey Kong? Donkey Kong Country? DK64? The DK series seems to be continually evolving. Mario VS Donkey Kong is a good follow up to the original arcade Donkey Kong though, I thought.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
Old Apr 20, 2006, 02:46 AM #17 of 17
This is a dumb topic and has been done many times over. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat was an excellent game for cube. There is a new Donkey Kong game in the works for Revolution and it too will probably be excellent. I see nothing more to discuss.

Feel free to go and make a Donkey Kong Country appreciation thread if you want but this thread is over.
