It has to be PERFECT!

I am not sure how many people might have this problem, but do you ever get an extremely uncomfortable feeling when something is not perfectly set up the way you want it to be. For example, you have to have to have a fork and knife in a certain order to feel right about eating something?

I have a problem where I feel completely uncomfortable if (in my cd case) a cd doesn't have a booklet in front of it. All of my cd's are in alphabetical order, with their book in front of the cd in the order they came out in (depending on how many cd's the band has, or I own of theirs). If a booklet is not in front of the cd, I don't listen to it, and I will buy the cd again just to have a booklet.

I cannot eat while there is music being played, unless it's soft radio music in restaurants, if I am at home eating a meal I prefer nothing to be on or T.V I just don't like music being played much at all

There might be more with myself and weird crap like that, but at the moment it's all I can think of. Do you prefer things a certain way to feel comfortable with it?

How ya doing, buddy?

I don't have any behaviors that might indicate some form of OCD, unless double checking counts.

I have my preferences, but they are not the overriding factor of my experiences. I adapt when I have to.

I definitely have some forms of OCD.

My desk, for example. People sometimes just DROP things on it - like paperwork or whatever. I have EXTREMELY particular habits when it comes to paperwork. There can be no dog-ears, no stains, staples must be in the top left corner at a perfectly horizontal degree, All paper must be flat, and stacked neatly.

I am not that organized a person, though. Which is odd.

Wouldn't it be difficult to grab out a CD when you have to move the booklet every time? Why don't you put the CD in front of the booklet? Actually, why don't you just keep everything in the original cases? Sounds like half-assed OCD to me.

As did I... I don't know if this is considered really OCD but if I buy any kind of bottled drink I MUST remove the label off of it, I don't know why but it just extremely bothers me if there is a label on the bottle.

I sometimes have bouts of OCD. I used to be very affected by that when I was in middle and elementary school. However I have, to some degree grown out of it, while at times having very intense compulsions for symmetry and evenness.
It can be troublesome at times.

Umm, you tell me if these are OCD lol.

When I go to sleep, it has to be completely silent. Everything on my bed has to be in place, pillows certain parts of the bed. That's why I have problems when I sleep at other people's houses. It's not my bed, it's not possible to put the pillows/everything the right way.

Also, I can't write on imperfect paper. If theres a scratch in it, a bit crumpled, some marks on it. I have to throw it out and use a new one. This includes while I'm writing half way through a note, go to erase and it crumples up the page accidentally. I can't continue the note.

If I check my forums, I need to check all of them. I can't even leave the computer without checking every single one. Then I need to check my blogs, then facebook. Sad eh? It can go in a vicious cycle depending on how much free time I have that day.

I need music with me constantly. Everywhere I go except for classes. I'm constantly irritated and begin to judge people if I don't have my music on.

Oh wow, my deepest secrets on the internet. Big step... :P

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

As scary as it sounds, I could have written that about myself. Except maybe organization. At home I'm a slob. At work I'm a neat-freak. I sit at a desk (no assigned seating), and the first thing I do is organize everything alphabetically and/or in a workable, coherant order. Then I grab the Lysol wipes and wipe down EVERYTHING.

Hell, last month we got a new couch in but the movers left the tables and chairs all over the place...so I spent my break putting everything back AND making certain none of the chairs would bump into another if two people seated back-to-back got up at the same time.

But again, at home I have shit lying all over the place...

I have to check constantly that I have my: 1) wallet, 2) phone, 3) (i)pod, 4) keys in that order, and make sure that I haven't been pickpocketed while listening to my music or looking elsewhere. Why the 'pod before my keys? The alliteration with "phone," of course.

When making study notes, I have to write them out in excruciating detail whenever I get to doing them or else, they won't be "complete." Even if the professor clearly states that certain things won't be on a test/exam, I still write them down in laborious detail to delude myself into thinking I'm making creative use of my time.

I have OCD tendencies but I'm not a very neat person. Dirty, I can't tolerate but messy I'm surprisingly fine with. Most my habits have to do with cleaniless (I wash my hands more time than is probably necessary) but in terms of neat, I like all the furniture and appliances in my apartment to be parallel to the wall, if that makes sense. I don't like things at an off angle.

I don't care if there's music playing when I eat, but I know how you feel about the rest of that. It drives me nuts when something's out of place, and it's ussually something very weird, such as a fan is a half inch away from where it needs to be or I don't like the way the CDs are stacked. I also have to stack the dishes and silverware in a specific order, otherwise it drives me nuts and I feel that they're too cluttered.

Hm, I have none of these tendencies. The only I exhibit close to this is wanting every cd in a set (or if I buy one cd from, say, Nirvana, I have to have them all, even if I don't particularly care for Nirvana. I do like Nirvana, though, lol) This happens with everything. Even games I don't really care for...I have to have every installment.

Weird.

You see, that is how they make their money. There are so many people that will simply buy things to complete a collection.

To be on topic, however, I suppose I do exhibit some of these things. Sometimes when I'm out I tend to check my pockets constantly for the normal things I put in there. I guess it's just because I've dropped things so often before that I want to avoid it ever happening again. Also, when I'm at other people's houses, sometimes I'll check under tables and furniture to see if there's a mess under there when I'm getting ready to leave...I think it's more of a habit than a compulsion. Maybe it's because I tend to clean up other people's houses after a party or something because nobody else will, so I got used to looking under tables and so forth. I guess I've got an obsession with not dropping things even in circumstances where it's obvious that nothing could've dropped.

I'm not sure if this would qualify as something that isn't "set up" perfectly, but I cannot eat smashed bread, especially French bread.

When I'm eating at home, I MUST use my spoon, and I make it clear that nobody else may touch it.

As for the computer desk-- the stapler must be positioned to the left of the tape dispenser at a near-perfect angle. The envelopes are to the right.

If I had any of these tendancies I probally wouldn't have lost my Sony A-trac player, and Ipod Nano within two months of each other. I'm in high school, and my binder is full of loose papers, nothing goes in the bindings. Right now I am basically surronded by shit all over my room, and I am still wearing the same thing as I was three days ago (except my underwear)

Only at work do I come off like a full blown OCD victim. If it's not setup by me..if I'm not apart of it, and if it isn't my idea. I will find some way to change it. For example an endcap of sugar with a flour tie in has to be made by our rookie grocery manager. The standard company design for endcaps is "straight-accross" on every shelf. He, however, makes it into a "T" and "U" form. Usually I slowly change that crap back to normal. The soda aisle is like my child, if someone screws up how I've aligned the sodas, I'm going to be pissed.

Hey at least your manager isn't as bad as mine. My manager is monumentally bad. So bad that one wonders how he keeps his job, let alone became a manager.

Let's say Heinz's canned beans and pastas are on sale and we have like 4 pallets of the stuff. Rather than having one of his employees make a stackup with for example 3 varieties of beans and 3 varieties of pastas on it... this moron will just put one of the pallets on the floor exactly as it was shipped, even if it's nothing but Zoodles. Thankfully, the two days that I work this job are the days he takes as his weekend, and my supervisor is more competent than this manager.

Anyway, all in all I'm pretty chilled at that job.

On my computer, things have to be perfect. I'm constantly re-ripping CD's when a new album comes out or an encoder is updated.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

...It's not difficult at all, I hate having the cd in front of the booklets I think it looks ridiculous like that, and I like showing the cover art. I don't keep everything in the original case, because I don't have the cases to half of the cd's I have anymore, plus I always prefered the Cd holder cases more.

For me things must totally be even and lined up. When eating M&M's or the like each side of my mouth must have recieved the same amount of M&M's by the time I'm done. And when I'm folding paper airplanes each crease and fold must line up exactly or else the plane becomes a defect in my eyes.

I think everyone goes through something like this at least one part of their lives.

For me, before I go to bed I have to wash my hands. If I forget to and just go to bed or I go to bed but forgot that I washed my hands (which happens quite often), I can't sleep knowing that my hands aren't washed.

Also when I go to sleep, I can't sleep knowing that I didn't crack my knuckles. I can crack a lot of bones in my body including my fingers, wrists, knees, ankles, toes, back, neck, shoulders... if I go to sleep and didn't crack my knuckles at least once, I will go nuts and just have to do it

(I think that one by far is my weirdest)

Jam it back in, in the dark.
