No, the problem is that parents don't even know or aren't even interested in what their kids are doing anymore.

The more I think about it, the more it is purposeless to even have an account there. I don't keep up with all my friends regularly and they all have my email address. However, the only people I'd want to watch on there is Boom Boom Satellites, mainly because I don't believe it's really them on there.

I haven't found any classmates yet, but I have found old coworkers.

I've always wonder exactly how some people are so bold as to try to meet somebody online in person. Especially if you're young.

It is all about attention. Obviously they don't feel someone/people are paying them enough attention so they're quick to meet total strangers online. Obviously common sense or enough bad stuff hasn't happened to them to dissuade them from this.

It is all attention. Why else would you announce to the world that you're going to commit suicide? I've heard of some weird stuff on myspace, people cutting themselves and then posting pictures. Thanks, but no thanks.

And yes, I also fail to see the attraction of myspace. It was actually never really popular with the people I hung out with, which is why I never got on it. But if it was, I think I'd be part of it sadly. (Conformist? probably)

I don't think there really is a way to stop it. A lot of kids don't even have friends that they can be open with and share their true feelings with, I understand why they'd try to get some attention on the net.

I know its hard to imagine, but if you don't add every single person who asks you for an add as a friend, then maybe you won't run into that kind of shit.

I first learned about myspace from the kids at the summer camp I work at. I blocked all access to the site, but mostly because it was wasting time as I didn't think about the danger. I ended up setting up an account of my own when I found some friends I haven't seen in 10 years, and since have found other former classmates.
But I certainly see the dangers. A few of the girl campers found my profile, and sent me friend requests in addition to adding me to their AIM buddy lists. I mean, sure I actually at least know them, but I still feel a beet creepy every time one of them IMs me.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't see why a lot of people think they're automatically safe from predators and stuff on sites like that. Like Dark Nation said, you'd think common sense would stop some of these idiots from posting their personal information, like phone numbers and addresses. Hell, I have people I've friends known for six years on AIM that keep trying to give me their phone numbers. The obligatory "don't talk to strangers" plays in my head every time. Maybe we should get together and organize a mass intervention or something.

It seems most of the kids on Myspace have the "It's never gonna happen to me" mentality. One of the three girls they interviewed on that show didn't sound like she was too convinced about the danger she put herself in. I would almost bet Monopoly money that she hasn't already created another Myspace profile and is at it again.

I think it also stemms from a teenager's natural mindset of wanting to rebel against what their parents deem unsafe. I know several people who's parents dont' want them having a Myspace, but they went ahead and registered without them knowing.

That site just annoys the hell out of me.

The most annoying thing is when friends(who by what you see on their pages) hang out with each other all the time, leave messages on each other's profiles about that party the other night.

It's like, don't you talk about it over the phone? It's obvious they are posting it so the world can read about their personal lives.
