Couldn't hurt anything to go ahead and lay out the ropes. I'm not sure how many can stand on one platform at a time so we'll need to make sure just moving on is the plan before we end up with half the party stuck down the whole and the rest still spread out over several platforms.

So, the online Character Builder is live on vecna.wizards.com. I've read reports of intermittent crashes and that not everything that should be there is there. And also that it's slow. And that you can only make 2 characters.

Well, it depends on what you mean by "things that should be there". Functions like export were known to be absent in the initial release.

Crashes? Well, uh, it just locked up when I tried to import Samwise. Hrm. Oh, it tried to auto-recover Sam when I re-launched. So that's nice. Still locks up trying to import him, though; everyone else imported without trouble. Probably his houseruled gun causing the issue.

2 characters only is definitely not the case, I'm not going to sit here importing guys all night but from what I've heard the current cap is supposed to be 20.

Slow? Maybe. It's a little sluggish for me, but then again Verizon throttled my connection a week ago and I've been wrestling with them about it since so my speeds are spotty at the best of times anyway. Plus the site is probably getting hammered right now compared to how busy it'll be under a normal load. Who knows.

Some people were moaning about themes (don't know what they are honestly), math decomposition of to-hits and damage figures (never used them really), boons (doubt we'll have them anyway), and among others, wonky hybrid support (no hybrids this game), missing gear and inherent bonuses not being implemented (which may affect the current game).

Actually, yeah. Beefi's got a very high Athletics and he only needs to clear 3 squares to reach the hatch, so an 18 or better would get him there.

It's not great odds but it's conceivable.

Alright so you'd pretty much have to tightrope walk on the lines we're laying out rather than being able to scoot along hanging from below.

Another question for pang before anyone starts moving around: is each platform only large enough to fit one player on it?

Yeah, the platforms aren't quite 5 feet wide so you'd be hard pressed to fit more than one person on there without a great deal of awkwardness (Uxig and Sam could share one, I suppose). So standard rules apply; you can move THROUGH a friendly-occupied space, but not STAY there.

Rather than try to get to the platform I just jumped off, might you not be better off chucking me the end of the rope so I can tie it around the platform I'm on now, then lower myself into the hatch on my own chain and get out of the way so you guys can climb across. After Slim gets to the hatch he can un-lassoo the rope from his platform and chuck the end to Sam and so on. If there's any monsters in the rom bleow, Beefi can probably hold his own for a few rounds while you all catch up.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I was figuring after hooking the hatch platform and tying mine off that there's probably just barely enough left for deni to use. Should be fine though seeing as I think Wvlf can use swiftcurrent to get across and you were planning on jumping it anyway right?

Also I appreciate the gesture but you should probably save your healing powers for combat. I can use as many of my surges as I want outside of combat.

Yeah I may be the shittiest possible healer but I still get one encounter heal. It'll get real interesting real quick though if we get into a situation that requires some heavy healing.

Pssh, if we need healing it means that Pang has thrown a bunch of monsters at us that has withstood all our dailies and encounters and there are no pits to throw them in or walls to smash them against. We'll know when that's about to happen when we come across a really big, featureless room because there's going to need to be fucking hundreds of them to stand up to our merry band of murderous bastards.

That said, I will now be in no way surprised if we're jumped by a three digit quantity of zombies before we reach the end of this. I know one thing though, if we do end up getting killed it'll be fucking epic when it happens (And almost certainly self-inflicted). If we've not earned a card called "Rivers of blood, mountains of skulls" by the time a new party takes over I'll be upset.

Oh certainly we're equipped to make that happen. I think wvlf is the only one of us that isn't effectively a striker so we just have to rely on our overwhelming murder skills.

You know I'm down with the retarded charge to death against potentially unwinnable odds. The only tactics that need be worried about are letting Deni flank for super up the butt damage as often as possible.

With the new guild system in place, I would happily see our second adventure (Should we last that long) end with the five of us facing a charge by 10,000 black orcs then a fade to black only for the next party to be sent on a mission to find out what happened to us, the answer being we killed 10,000 black orcs and are on our way home.

Fades to black can always manage what's not feasible within the game system.
