Your Most Wanted Albums (Possibly Imaginary)

What VGM album do you want to hear? This could be either:

1. An announced project that's disappeared into the ether. (Chrono Cross Arrange, where art thou?)

2. A forthcoming album that you're just dying to listen to.

3. A collaboration/imaginary project that satisfies your wildest desires -- even if it won't happen in a million years. (Uematsu playing his greatest hits with spoons? Tell me more!)

4. Something completely off-the-wall I haven't thought of.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Motoi writing a new OST that doesn't suck.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
It was lunchtime at Wagstaff.
Touching butts had been banned by the evil Headmaster Frond.
Suddenly, Tina Belcher appeared in the doorway.
She knew what she had to do.
She touched Jimmy Jr's butt and changed the world.

A Final Fantasy mash-up album that manages to smoothly blend together Flowers Blooming in a Church, To Zanarkand and One Winged Angel, all over a catchy Euro-pop beat.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I just think Final Fantasy needs to go totally Eurobeat with the next soundtrack.

OOOH OOH, I THOUGHT OF ANOTHER ONE:

Some new American VGM that doesn't sound like it was ripped straight from a movie.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Ooh, how about an American racing game soundtrack that doesn't all sound like either Blink 182 or Lil' Wayne.

I was speaking idiomatically.

A Hamauzu soundtrack that is as objectively deep, intellectual, complex, sophisticated etc as VGM elitists always claim.

I'm still waiting with bated breath for Sakuraba's second soundtrack.

How is a soundtrack "objectively deep", by the way, that sounds like one of those things music snobs say about an album when they're trying to show you why you aren't smart enough to like it

Hey now, he wrote about 10 back in the GB and Mario Sports days. It's just that he stopped after that.

There are a few things I'd like to hear as albums that will probably never come to pass.

-A fully orchestral recording of Uematsu's Final Fantasy VI. Note I said recording rather than arrangement; what I'd basically like to see is all the synths replaced by real instruments playing the very same notes.

-A decent arrangement/upgrade of Yasunori Shino's "Estpolis/Lufia II." The recent album was a merciless tease in that regard.

-More Opoona, including an official album for the game. I love Sakimoto's orchestral schtick (and would pay good money for a symphonic FFXII as above) but pound for pound Opoona is more zany and creative. Moar plz.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'd like to have Nintendo soundtrack releases which doesn't get the 'rare' status two days after release. Seriously, so much little games get an ordinary soundtrack release but Nintendo is like a diva in this case.

Not to mention that a lot of games don't get a release at all, like Paper Mario 2 and Super Paper Mario.

I'm eagerly awaiting the new Parasite Eve PSP game soundtrack (ie The 3rd Birthday) from Yoko Shimomura. The original game's music remains one of my personal favourites and I'm hoping the new PSP game will be able to recapture the magic of the original with an updated sound (notably the Eve vocals). Some rearrangements of say Femmes Fatales or U.B. would be great.

And I'm hoping for another great Junya Nakano soundtrack not unlike what he did for Dew Prism and Musashi Samurai Legend. In fact, another Nakano and Hamauzu collaboration would be nice.

And since I'm at it, it would be interesting if Shoji Meguro and Chikayo Fukuda at their best are thrown into the mix as well.

I would love to see Spencer Nilsen come back and make another soundtrack since he literally only did Sonic CD (US).

An official release/jazzy arrangement of Toejam and Earl music like The OneUp's "Toe Jam Jammin'" would be sick.

An official release of Chronicles of the Black Moon would be awesome too because that was some of the coolest monastic chanting I've ever heard, but I think the game went under too fast.

He did more than Sonic CD. You can find info on his game/discography here:

Then I'll say I would love some Clock Tower arrangements, particularly of the earlier games.

Full symphony orchestrations/live studio versions of themes from all the major Zelda titles. I want orchestrated Twilight Princess Hyrule Field NOW. It's been done before in some capacity, but never a full collection by one symphony spanning the whole series. I'd love to be wrong though.

None of that approaches this:

The Mr. Methane CD, purchased over ebay for .01¢. Yeah, free shipping. This guy performs all sorts of neat stuff, including the doot doot, doot doot from the Blue Danube.

Allow me to share a track from this CD. Here ya go.

Ballin. I will need whichever one of those was Fonthene on the gamerip in FLAC. So I can make a whole CD with nothing but that song.

I am entirely serious about this.

(one of which will suddenly cut into Cheetah Men)
