Wii Drivekey?
Hey everybody - haven't posted here in quite a while.
My girlfriend just got me a Wii for Christmas. I was looking into modding the thing, but don't really know where to find the best source of information. I remembered getting quite a bit of help from here before when I modded my PS2, so I figured maybe somebody here will be able to at least point me in the right direction. From the little research I've done, it seems that most people are all about the Wii Drivekey, as it doesn't require any soldering and supports all Wii systems. Anybody have any experience with those, or recommendations on what to get? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Why would you hardmod a Wii when softmodding is so much easier? =/
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
...because I didn't know you could!
But I am going to certainly look into it now. Thanks. Most amazing jew boots |
Yes! Do that. You will be surprised at how much you can do.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
|
Nope, feel free to even make a guide if you want to.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Considering that the best guide ever went down along with Yafaze, it might be nice if someone felt like recreating that for forum use. It wasn't the guide that got Yafaze taken down, incidentally. It was the zero-day warez.

Hey, that Homebrew Channel looks pretty amazing. I'm pretty interested in running my game library through a network, as I'm currently building a 3TB NAS with WHS loaded on it. It would be great to have everything centralized that way. I've found a little information on how to do that, but I'll have to look a little more.
Are there any must have homebrew apps that I should know of after loading the channel? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Hmmm... I honestly recommend just getting an external 200 to 500 GB hard drive and hooking that up to the back of your Wii and running your games off of that. It's what I do and it's damn fast. I'm not too confident it'll be all that good running off of a NAS.

I wasn't able to get game to load from ANYTHING except DVD-R. That's MINUS-Rs only. I have a USB-powered external [320GB] drive that I'd totally use for running games off of, but I have no idea how. I had no idea you could, even. D:
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

How awesome that would be... What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Yeah, I'd fucking love it if it could do GameCube games. For those wondering about the harddrive thing I've had great success using Western Digital portable hard drives.

I've been able to run Gamecube games from burned DVD-Rs, but that's about it. I haven't figured out how to properly make multiboot ones either, so as not to waste discs and stick multiple games on one disc. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually though.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
