The first game got out and out ruined by rapidfire and reload glitching, I hope the same doesn't have this time.
What do you mean you hope the same doesn't [happen] this time? It already is. OK, maybe not reload glitching, not that I've seen, but I have defnitely seen rapidfire a couple of times (though not that often). Wouldn't surprise me if it was getting more frequent though as these things to tend to spread once people start doing them.

You know I'm extremely glad I spent those first few days of release playing the shit out of the MP for this because I clearly managed to do so before all the bullshit got discovered as I'm just hearing more and more about glitches and game-breaking crap people have found and judging by their efforts on Modern Warfare 1 there's no fucking way they're fixing this shit. They'll sell you new* maps though, don't worry about that.

* Actually I'd be willing to put money down that at least one of the map packs, if not the first, contains some of the multiplayer levels from MW1, possibly slightly reworked, but not necessarily.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

They probably could. Experience with the first game however would suggest that they won't bother.

Yeah, really. It took them something like a year plus to release a patch that did jack shit for the first game, by that time everyone had given up on it. Same shit goes for Gears 2.

Xbox 360 FPS developers.

In other news: Domination is actually pretty fun with a coordinated team. Just won about eight matches in a row with some guys, and it gets pretty crazy. Back to back AC130s for each team on Highrise, it was fucking intense.

Krel, the thing to keep in mind about Prestige is that just because the person has Prestiged doesn't mean they're any good. Even the biggest retard can, with enough bad playing, level up and hit Prestige.

Hadn't seen or heard about the care package or javelin thing, but the rapid fire FAL shit I've seen a lot of. Didn't catch any of the reload glitching in any of the killcams I saw of it, but that rapid fire bullshit I've been on the receiving end of SEVERAL TIMES.

So very annoying, mmhmm.

This isn't unique to the 360 version, seen it on PSN too.
Most glitches shouldn't be specific to any version of the game (considering the port job IW did), so uh, yeah

Never seen infinite crown splitter actually. Most of the headsmasher packages I've seen usually end up off the reach of players, causing cussing and whining (thus the usual hilarity).

Will spin the disc later.

That javelin thing sounds very useful for headquarters games. Kind of like C4ing the capture point except a million times more awesome.

I haven't seen any reload glitching. It seems like all of the guns are "considered" reloaded deep enough into the reload animation this time around that it has become a non-issue. I do see a fair few fast shooting FALs, but it isn't nearly as rampant as fully auto G3 and desert eagles were in the last game.

I still say that host advantage in this game is on par with Gears. If you are host, and even somewhat competent, you will have a highly successful round. If you are a slightly above average player (like myself), and the host is not, I don't know, in the same state as you, you'll spend a lot of time wondering why you can drop half a clip into a guy and not get any hits before he turns around and one shots you.

Witnessed a rapidfire FAL this afternoon. Everyone got to see it, as it was the round-winning kill on a game of S&D. Everyone in the game—including the people on the guy's team—started laying into the fucker.

What's the process behind this stuff, anyway? I find it hard to believe that it's only attainable with the controller I posted on the previous page.

Luckily I haven't yet encountered serious problems online, though the Marathon, Lightweight, Commando and Tactical Knife combo is ridiculous.
Hopefully they'll have a balance patch out soon.

Bad news, nobody!

Quote:
While Infinity Ward works up a fix for the infamous suicide-bombing "javelin glitch" in Modern Warfare 2, Xbox Live's chief lawman vows that anyone caught doing it in his jurisdiction can expect a daylong banhammer, minimum.

Said Stephen Toulouse (Stepto) over Twitter earlier today:

While IW works on getting the MW2 glitch fixed, people we catch using it will recieve suspensions from LIVE. Play fair everyone. :>

Stepto clarified that bannings for this sort of terms of use violation typically are 24 hours, but can go up to two weeks if they're particularly egregious.
Expect to see javelin-suiciding less often from now on.

Ahahaha. UNLIKELY.

"People we catch".

uhhh. How.

People they are directly playing in a game with? Of which video evidence exists? There is no record of it on their end, obviously, so uhh...

These empty threats never work. Bungie does the same thing and threatens standbyers. That also accomplishes fuck all.

I really wish these fear tactics worked, though. It'd be nice.

They need some way to go back and figure out who did it so they can slam all of the people that cheated at once like Valve did with TF2.

Completely agree. But in their defense Bungie actually DOES ban quite a lot of people, and can automatically detect that shit. Problem is that getting XBL trial codes is easy as hell. That said it's a hell of a lot easier having to start over on Halo 3 than it is MW2 since you'd have no unlocks, but like you said in this case since there's no server side tracking or anything like Bungie and other companies do I can't see how they'd possibly track this.

That's basically my point, I could have phrased it better. While Bungie does carry through with the threats, the ease of circumvention of the punishment means it's not taken seriously enough to matter, so.

Either way, yeah.

IW is dickwaving and it won't work in the least.

How ya doing, buddy?

Man, fuck all of that noise. I gave that whole "lol Javelin" thing a try the other day on Highrise with extremely hilarious results. Prepped it, walked out the front of the building, got shot, blew up and killed two people who were geometry glitching in the area above the entrance.

I love it. It's like the game has evolved into some kind of meta-warfare gimmick build/glitch weapon triangle-esque affair. Javelin beats Geometry Glitch. Geometry Glitch beats Knife. (Throwing) Knife beats Javelin. Akimbo 1887s beat everything because holy shit million foot range

Also, I wouldn't have called exploiting a glitch in the game cheating the same way using a custom-firmware pad is, or standbying in Halo. You're not doing anything that everyone else can't do after all. Sure, it's a little unsporting but since when has good sportsmanship been even slightly apparent in any Xbox Live game? Fair enough ban people for modifying the game and getting an unfair advantage that way but playing on a broken bit of coding is the devs fault, not the players.

Nah man, people will give a fucking damn, and they're right. First of all, it's by far not comparable to glitches like the one of that 1337 ha][0r who has a 3,872,593:1 kill/death ratio and is world-wide #1 after 27 minutes of gameplay. Second, it's their fucking fault. Not only are they too stupid to give us a few dedicated servers (I fucking hate those host migrations two seconds after the game began after you just waited three minutes, only to realize that they thought it would be great to group a bunch of level 20 players against a couple of level 50 pros) and have a maximum of 18 players per game (even KZ2 had 32, dammit), now they're running around threatening people with bans. This is ridiculous.

Bottom line: if you see someone running around with a javelin, don't kill him. Okay? Yeah, right, whatever.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
