No rush. And hey, by posting you've made it possible for me to vote without it getting automerged into the first post!

Bomberman Hero (Game Rip) - Action Scene B A decent beat, but there's just not enough going on to maintain interest.

Coded Soul Uke Keigareshi Idea - Gail's Theme A mixture of the sentimental piano character theme with a generous amount of new age atmosphere. Love the melody and the overall atmosphere.

G.T.R. - Wendy touch Is it just me or does "Wendy touch" sound like something out of hardcore hentai? Then again, maybe that's exactly where this song is from. That aside, this is a decent piece all around, if a little cheesy at times.

Little Samson (NES Game Rip) - Lickle's Theme This reminds me of MM4 in that it has the NES sound down cold and all the right ingredients, but never quite manages to come together in a really interesting way.

Obscure 2 - Corruption with Rage and Melancholy As Alone on the Dark showed, if there's one composer that knows his way around a choir, it's Olivier Deriviere. This piece combines vocals and dark Yamaoka-esque atmospherics to good effect. A few nasty electronic squeals in the background are the only real minus.

Perfect Selection Dracula ~New Classic~ - Theme from "The Legend of Dracula" This synthpop sound is probably the last thing I'd associate with Vlad Dracul, but once that cognitive dissonance is overcome it's actually quite excellent. The violin melody is especially nice,

Silent Scope Trilogy Original Soundtrack - DEADLY INVITATION I've seen this game at dozens of arcades but never actually played it (maybe if there were more hot girl powerups I'd have ventured a quarter on it). The music is fine, if not particularly memorable.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect (Game Rip) - Spaceport While the trance sound is appropriately spacey, the song lasts a geologic age and never really does anything noteworthy (a lot like your garden variety trance track, come to think of it).

The Point Spread
Gail's Theme – 3 pts.
Corruption w/ a side of Rage & Melancholy sauce – 2 pts.
Theme from LoD – 1 pt.

Nom nom nom
Composer: Kunihiko Ryo, In-Roh Joo
Album: Aion (gamerip)
Track Title: The Still, Sad World
Year: 2008
Additional Information: Ripped as an ogg from the game's files and converted.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It's actually from an original works album. Got Sakimoto on it too!

Voting:
3 Points: Obscure 2 - Corruption with Rage and Melancholy
2 Points: Timesplitters: Future Perfect (Game Rip) - Spaceport
1 Point: Perfect Selection Dracula ~New Classic~ - Theme from "The Legend of Dracula"

Nominating something from a game that's been out for one year in a single country but has been introduced to the rest of the world only one month ago is rather sneaky, it complies with the written rules but those are only approximations to a principle which would not appreciate such a nomination i think. It's not that i would have anything against it, i don't even really support that obscurity rule itself.
It just feels kind of unfair that you get to nominate something from a new game while i am still waiting for two nominations to reach the age of consent so to speak.

I was speaking idiomatically.

The music has been available for over a year; hell, my gamerip is from 2008. I didn't even know the game had a western release, frankly.

Nominate them then! I doubt anyone would even notice unless you call attention to it. Plus fast and loose is the new watchword here at SotW.

I also doubt that the number of people who even know the games will dramatically increase over those three month, since both are indie titles. Even though one has to say that over Steam they get quite some exposure.
Titles in question would be "Madballs in ... Babo: Invasion" and "Machinarium", everyone should check out their soundtracks really.

But now we do know and will think to check

The tracks are finally finalized. There may be slightly higher quality versions of some tracks available now.

Also, CHz, if you read this, I have updated the TagScanner and MP3Gain settings here:
Staff resources - SotW Wiki

I want to stop using Disc.Track in the ID3v2 & APE track field. It's not good form and iTunes won't properly read the tag. Most media players now support the disc field, so we should use it. I'd also prefer to include the disc count, but this is optional. Disc number will still be grouped into the album field for ID3v1.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

1 point: Obscure 2 - Corruption with Rage and Melancholy
1 point: Bomberman Hero (Game Rip) - Action Scene B
1 point: Little Samson (Game Rip) - Lickle's Theme
1 point: Coded Soul: Uke Keigareshi Idea (Game Rip) - Gail's Theme

Well I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I didn't like this week at all. Some tracks were passable enough to get points, but on the whole, nothing stuck out nor truly entertained.

(2 points) G.T.R. - Wendy touch
Very nice overall, with great solos. A bit cheesy at times however.
(2 points) Obscure 2 - Corruption with Rage and Melancholy
Beautiful and haunting at the same time. Love the violin + vocal synergy. Somewhat simple melody.
(1 point) Little Samson (Game Rip) - Lickle's Theme
I still remember it from all those years ago! Certainly catchy, although its shortness drags it a bit down.
(1 point) TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (Game Rip) - Spaceport
Nothing spectacular, yet it's good standard trance.

Nomination (going back to my last nom before I did the Halloween special switch):

Album: Neotokyo
Artist: Ed Harrison
Disc #: 1
Track #: 1
Track Title: Annul
Catalogue Number: N/A
Year: 2009 (March 5)
Additional Info: Neotokyo is a Half-Life 2 mod.

Nice week. Am I the only one who thinks the Coded Soul track sounds rather like Enya's Watermark piano and vocal piece? Pity the melody isn't quite as good.

(2 points) Obscure 2 - Corruption with Rage and Melancholy

(2 points) Perfect Selection Dracula ~New Classic~ - Theme from ''The Legend of Dracula''

(1 point) Bomberman Hero (Game Rip) - Action Scene B

(1 point) Coded Soul Uke Keigareshi Idea (Game Rip) - Gail's Theme

Special mentions to Silent Scope. It has some cool parts but the others didn't quite standout for me.

(3 points) Perfect Selection Dracula ~New Classic~ - Theme from "The Legend of Dracula": Hardly what I'd expect from track that has the phrase "Perfect Selection Dracula", but hey, that violin works swell.
(2 points) Obscure 2 - Corruption with Rage and Melancholy: I agree -- total Silent Hill vibe here. Introduces its many elements at a judicious pace.
(1 point) Silent Scope Trilogy Original Soundtrack - DEADLY INVITATION: Has enough action and urgency to make it compelling.

As for the rest of a decent week:

I enjoyed Spaceport very much when I heard it in-game, but even I agree it falls under boilerplate techno (which I happen to like often). Gail's Theme is lovely in sound but missing something compositionally. The vibe of Wendy Touch has definitely been mirrored in other SotW selections -- the jazzy/synth vibe -- and it's ultimately not too bad. I have no real complaints for Action Scene B either. Lickle's Theme has the NES sound downpat but never does anything unique with it.

I was speaking idiomatically.

3 Points - G.T.R. - Wendy touch: This is supposed to be cheesy? I really love it, has many interesting solos and just sounds like a funny sunny downstreet stroll while kicking around garbage cans. Still, what is a Wendy touch? Like Frog touch?

2 Points - Perfect Selection Dracula ~New Classic~ - Theme from "The Legend of Dracula": haha what is this? Half-sentimental, half-atmospheric and the "blobs" are so out of place it's awesome. Very weird song.

1 Point - Little Samson (Game Rip) - Lickle's Theme: oh god the beatline is so Zunesque lol, it's louder than the melody. Catchy song still.

Great week for me.

Just Missed: Corruption with Rage and Melancholy, Spaceport

Alright guys, about to listen to the Future Perfect soundtrack, see you in 6 months

I always liked how, even though Redial (Action Scene B) repeates 2 measure motives over and over again, it still manages to be a captivating listen. Same for the rest of the soundtrack. Of course, maybe the fact that Bomberman Hero is one of my most played games of all time helped a bit.

Also, DEADLY INVITATION marks the first time I've nominated a total of 3 tracks from a single game/album! You all should totally check out the Silent Scope Trilogy soundtrack, it rules (it does).

Additional Spam:
Oh yeah, also, I highly recommend that you folks give the Silent Scope Trilogy soundtrack a listen, it's really good.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Still deciding. Might change these votes, but here's what I have for now:

3 points - Perfect Selection Dracula ~New Classic~ - Theme from "The Legend of Dracula"
2 points - Bomberman Hero (Game Rip) - Action Scene B
1 point - Obscure 2 - Corruption with Rage and Melancholy

I've had New Classic on my computer for a while but only recently did I appreciate this track to such a high level. Came up randomly and I loved it. Great melody and nice atmosphere. Some things could have been changed for the better, but I still think it's excellent.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Oh well. First one I've missed in a year, and the last one was only due to surgery.
