I remember seeing the preview on this game a while back and I thought it would be pretty sick (And i know it's kind of stupid to base my opinion on this game on just this) but honestly the fact that Jack Black is doing the voice acting for the game completely ruined it for me. I think he's a sub par actor and his voice... well I rather listen to car being crushed under bus then have to put up with his voice..

I was gonna download the demo to give it a try but I'm going to have the volume all the way down.

How ya doing, buddy?

No, I just don't find Jack Black as a good actor or even funny. I find him annoying with all the roles that he plays and I think everything he puts his hands on (movie role-wise) turns to dust when he touches. Like Tropic Thunder was funny except for his role in the movie.

Sounding a lot like personal bias than anything having to do with him being funny and/or a good actor.

Jack Black may not be the best movie actor, but his voice works perfectly for this role. I gave the demo a spin last night, and was pleasantly relieved. I already knew the game was going to be awesome and a must-buy, but I was still worried the controls for combat and especially driving the car wouldn't be very good. Both work well though, so now I can't wait for the 13th.

Jack Black is a terrible actor. But the concept of you saying something someone else touches turns to shit is hilariously ironic.

Jack Black has done a handful of decent things in his time. Moviewise he's got High Fidelity. But more importantly he's got Tenacious D. Tenacious D is basically this game before this game existed. He's been practicing for this game his entire life.

More importantly, if you're avoiding a Tim Schafer game because you think the voice acting will be irritating, you're more of a git than we've ever given you credit for. Go OD.

Don't get me started on Tenacious D... I personally don't see why people find them funny. If I want to listen to cheesy Metal, I'll go put some Iron Maiden and actually enjoy it.

To me, it's like watching an anime, where the dubbing is horrid. The story could be rocking but if the casting sucks then most people will tend to have at least a lil bit of a dislike for it. Imagine your favorite movie and replace the lead role with someone you dislike-- Imagine me playing your favorite role, I bet you $5 that you wont want to see it.

Acer> Yeah I'll admit, I'm being bais. My personal taste is what is going to make me want to avoid this game until someone forces me to sitdown and puts a gun to my head.

I'd like to think there are some things in this universe that even your presence would not be able ruin, Furbs.

Heaven. Maybe. I dunno if it could be called eternal bliss if I can hear you in the background, but you couldn't exactly make it SHITTY, could you?

I wouldn't actually put it beyond you, now that I think about it.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I think I made my point..

I think also pointed the fact that people still think I'm a plague on society but that's beyond the point right now

You wouldn't enjoy it as much if I was in there. That's the way I feel about Jack Black. I was honestly really excited about the game until I heard that he was doing the voice acting for it. I might still give it a shot since it's getting such high praise but I'm not one of those people that gets all hyped up about something just because everyone else seems to think it's the cool thing to like.

Guessing is that if the theme of the game is Rave, you'd buy it in a heartbeat, 'no?

Poor tastes aside, I am impressed by the demo and will definitely purchase the game.

I actually also hate Jack Black. His presence has ruined movies for me. However, I still tried this demo and thought that the cutscenes and dialogue were even better than the actual gameplay. Funny shit. Not like the demo costs anything anyway.

Are you kidding? Fuck that. I refuse to play Dj Hero. That shit is completely retarded. And if there was a game about raving, most likely it would be horribly misrepresented and people will be lead to believe it's just about drugs and retarded kids. Fuck that.

JessyKins> Mmm... I guess I could give it a try... I mean, you share my dislike for Jack Black and enjoyed it. So meh.

But Geez.. Burn me at the stake for stating my opinion. Yeah, I dislike Jack Black. I think he is given more credit then he deserves and I honestly hope his career goes down the drain like most actors that are typed casted. Sooner or later everyone will get tired of the same fart and piss jokes.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

My interest goes to Schaefer which I know will not disappoint. Black is of secondary importance.

But go ahead and not play the demo because loljackblack. The story can go to hell, right?

You uh, you realise lead actors don't usually WRITE the movie, yeah? There's a whole group of people who write movies called writers that are responsible for that.

Also, please fucking learn to use words properly. Trying to read what you write is like trying to dig through a "how I spent my summer vacation" essay done by the stupid kid with the learning disorder. Eventually you'll have to learn that people don't hate you for expressing your opinion, they hate you because your opinion is asinine and you generally suck out loud.

I thought he was pretty good in Saving Silverman. But that's a fairly goofball movie.

I keep forgetting this game is coming out soon, even though someone told me about it in chat last week. Mrrr... I should avoid the demo so I can forget for a few months until I have time to play it. Maybe by then I'll be caught up on all my other games from decades past. =\

See, Furby, what happened here was that you took an incredibly hardline stance that made you look like an idiot.

Personally, I got kind of irritated when Jack Black was in like 7 movies in a row as one half of Tenacious D in one role or another. When he's actually given something good to work with (School of Rock, Tropic Thunder) he can be entertaining.

But sure, just assume that everything he does is as annoying as Shallow Hal. That's gone over real well so far.

No. See, some of us who actually play the games actually enjoy a bit of story now and then. When a game's story is written by someone like Tim Schafer, the lot of us who haven't spent our late 20's at raves sponging up repetitive house music stand up and take notice because, unlike Danny Tenaglia, he hasn't quarter-assed yet another Global Underground "opus" and called it a masterpiece; the dude has a solid resume.

But I don't know, maybe I'll just go listen to some Metallica and warp back to the days when St. Gaylord was nowhere to be seen and ...And Justice For All was where THE METAL was at. Then I can pretend this dark chapter in Double Fine's abysmal gaming history never happened.

I was speaking idiomatically.
