Top Sad Tracks list
I was browsing youtube with a friend and were are a decent amount of VGM sad song collections, but I didn't like many of them so I thought I'd make my own. I hosted it on the site I write for with a couple friends from school if anyone is interested. My biggest peeve with most of the lists was that it was always "At Zanarkand" and "Aerith's Theme" at the top.

I like "Lost Odyssey's" soundtracks personally, some are really sad and meaningful (e.g. parting forever)

here's the trailer for ff versus xiii , you'll like it, but the thing that really annoys me is I can't find the title of the music being played but it is absolutely stunning
YouTube - Final Fantasy Versus XIII 13 Extended Trailer Footage This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

That track is called Somnus, Zander, and it's composed by Yoko Shimomura. Give me a moment and I'll upload it for you.
EDIT: Here you go. Unfortunately it's in m4a format, but there are plenty of free converters on the net, if you don't use iTunes. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8GJ0QL23 Most amazing jew boots |

thanks, lord of shadow, managed to get yoko shimomura's best of album 'drammatica' after alot of googlin' with the track on it, thanks for the upload, its a great track, been listening to it all yesterday.
I haven't been keeping track of new releases and just realised that was an old trailer. Edit: a pretty sad track I found on drammatica was cities from legend of mana, haven't played the game but it sounds pretty sad. oh yeah grandia 2's despair and hope can be found here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h8-oNY3fe0 great game as well, heavily underrated as well i think. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

That grandia track was pretty sad. I don't know, I didn't find the FFXIII track to be too sad, maybe if I knew the back story better, but overall it was a really good song, I just don't think it was too sad maybe more epic. Cities is one hell of a track, especially when it gets into the higher register.

Open an album list of all your vgm in foobar and filter all tracks containing *sad* or *tears* and so on.
It's interesting to see how different composers try to evoke feelings of sadness within their music. And just about every game has some sad music, if only the Game Over theme. I don't play a lot of games so I must admit there's only a handful tracks that leave me a feeling of sadness without knowing the context. A game I always found to have particularly depressing music is Genmukan, the OP Theme fulfills most of the criteria, but I couldn't imagine it playing at the death scene of a character in an RPG or that stuff, so I guess Uematsu still takes the crown. Also, Kajiura's tracks for Xenosaga 3 are real tearjerkers, like that one ![]() edit: eh I just found this >_< What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
