Riots in Moldava: Revolution?
![]() The communist party was just re-elected in the former Soviet Republic of Moldava and student protesters have rioted in Chişinău. Liberal students claim that the election was rigged, though chances are the Communists would have won a majority in Parliament anyways since there are three different liberal parties vying for seats.
Twitter news from Chişinău Digital communications are down all over Moldova and protesters are forced to release statements through Twitter. Additional Spam: Images from Chişinău Spoiler:
Jam it back in, in the dark.

Whose side are the army on?
That tends to be the deciding factor in these things. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() ![]() |
This looks like a nice Sunday ManU vs. Liverpool match riot.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
There were reports that the army had opened fire on the protesters, but right now they're listening to statements from parliament. Scratch that, now they're rioting again. Additional Spam: holy shit the cops are forming testudo Additional Spam: they are getting their asses kicked Additional Spam: Romanian adverts are crazy. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

This apparently is the majority of the Twitter stuff going around.
Some people are saying they're agreeing to manually re-count the votes. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() ![]() |
State internet providers have all stopped functioning. Only private providers are offering service, and for a while only cell phone services had internet access.
Now that things are dark in Moldova, the cops have started attacking protesters. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
FELIPE NO |
The question about manual recounting is "Who are the "they" that are recounting?" If it's the communists in charge of it and they DID rig it, then it's really not going to change things. Riots just keep a'comin.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? It was lunchtime at Wagstaff.

The region of Moldavia in Romania/Czech/Slovakia or the country of Moldova, former USSR nation? Or the river Moldau?
From what I take from this confusion, this is happening in the country of Moldova, between Ukraine and Romania. Anyway. Kind of reminds me of the events that led to the Warsaw Union. Hopefully it won't be as bloody. EDIT (for Brady): Just snorting at your typo, nothing more. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Yeah what region could I possibly be talking about concerning riots in Chişinău? It is a mystery.
![]() more footage from today:
Additional Spam: Police have fired blanks to disperse the protesters. They've all gone home for the night, we'll have to see what happens tomorrow. Parliament on fire There's nowhere I can't reach.

They're shipping out foreign journalists by the looks of things so one would imagine the troops are gearing up for a bloodbath, should the protests resume.

Haha, this picture is priceless, I didn't know they had ties in Moldova.

Cum voteaz? mor?ii în Republica Moldova - Cotidianul
I know you can't read Romanian, but there are reports that thousands of dead people voted Communist. Most amazing jew boots |
Apparently the Russians are saying that the riots were planned by a rogue group who want the country to become part of Romania and as such, the protesters are enemies of sovreignty. It'll be interesting to see how far Russia will support the communists if it turns out they rigged the election. It's one thing for an African country to ignore th UN telling them to hold a fair election but Moldova are going to fuck any future membership of the EU if they cheat this one. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() ![]() |
Where are the comrades taking arms against these hooligans?
FELIPE NO |
Of course, there were also groups of plain clothes cops singling out protesters, beating them, and hauling them off for arrest. Additional Spam: A lot of dumbasses (Western Media) are calling this a "Twitter Revolution" when really they were using Twitter to release news on the protests because there was literally nothing else. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Don't blame them, Brady. Old people think Twitter is a kind of e-lectronic drug that motivates teens to drop out of school and send naked pictures of themselves to pedophiles.

Today is Wednesday, so Crazy Redd will be restocking his heavy munitions supply. Watch out for fakes, rioters!

I know this takes the bold assumption that Moldavan youth are like American youth politically, but seeing as how the term "re-elected" was used I'm assuming there was a vote, and from there I'm wondering how many of those students bothered to get up and vote?
Of course then there's as they said in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, "Democracy only works in your favor if your side wins. Otherwise you might as well live in some totalitarian state." Although I should let my pessimistic side down long to enough to acknowledge those students probably are just smarter than the majority and recognize that a communist state will never be as powerful or prosperous as a free market will. Communism works in developing countries, but once a stable economy has been established free market allows for stronger growth. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
As far as I'm aware, the driving force behind the protests were a group who want the country to become part of Romania which would mean further distance from Russia and the benefits of getting into the EU (Is Romania in the EU? I can never remember who is or not). A Communist government would be considered closer to Russia, despite their democratic government and breaking away via a change in government is likely to result in far less danger of having the Russian army stroll in to keep them "Local".
At least that's how I understand it but that's a mix of sketchy information and speculation on my part. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() ![]() |
