Deni's Prediction:

Miles will, within a few days, incorporate a blue banner heralding anyone cool enough to buy this game as his GFF hero of the week.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD.

My prediction:

I will ban Deni from GFF unless he posts a picture of himself holding a copy of Klonoa for the wii.

I, for one, can't wait for this! Not as exciting as a new Klonoa title (I'd rather have had a new Pikmin title than a remake too!), but Door To Phantomile is a lot of fun. I still play my playstation version from time to time. I like the sound of Klonoa's voice much better in the original based on what I've heard of the new voices and SFX.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well, it looks like Gamestop will have this tomorrow. They called me earlier today to let me know that I can pick it up after 12 on Friday. I LOVE it when games arrive on Fridays. Perfect timing for the weekend!

I can't take it. I need my Klonoa fill. >_<

Odd that the store claims they'll have it tomorrow when they recently changed the release date on their site to 5/5 like everyone else. Hopefully they didn't just forget to update the date for automated calls.

Well Ence claims to have it already on his backloggery and he's from ca too. So I'm sure my gamestop will have it tomorrow.

Good News / Bad News time

Good News: Pre-ordered the game, so its just a waiting game at this point until it arrives in the mail.

Bad News: It might not arrive in the mail until the 10th =\

There's nowhere I can't reach.

My Gamestop had the game and let me have it even though I had not preordered it! The music is much improved and the voices are fine so long as you use the Japanese language track and it even comes with a coupon for a free taco (I'm not kidding!)!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

KLONOA GET! I chuckled at the free taco coupon too. Most random thing I have ever seen packaged with a video game. It makes sense though. Wahoo's tacos. I bet Ence used his already. XD

I also laughed at the Gamestop employee who wondered what Klonoa was. I told him it's the coolest platformer ever. Then he tried to advertise the new Wii-Sports game to me and I was like "No, it sucks. Get Klonoa."

I was speaking idiomatically.

So far so good! It took some time to pick up the game (no one knew about it and were extremely confused about the shipping date), but I finally got it.

Cleared Vision 1. Using the Classic Controller and mapped the controls in the way they were on the Playstation/PS2, so it's all coming back to me. I've missed you, Klonoa.

Finished the main game. Now I'm onto 100% everything. Of course the ending is still as depressing as ever.

Overall, I was very satisfied with this game. They did a good job at remaking the levels and they are possibly some of the most beautiful and colorful areas I've seen on the wii. The US version added the ability to turn on a graphics filter if you have component cables. I strongly suggest you use this! Most of the characters were redesigned nicely as well, though I don't really like Hewpoe's other design that much. Even though the game was made easier with the addition of 2 hearts, some people new to the series will have some difficulties in the 5 and 6 visions if your platform skills are lacking. Best of all, with all these enhancements and redesigns, I felt they did a fantastic job of staying true to the original game.

Right now I'm trying to collect all the gems and those medals you get for clearing those challenge areas found within the visions. They take a bit of practice to get a good time on. Of course these videos make it look easy: Namco unleashes flurry of Klonoa clips

I hope this game sells decently enough. This is Namco's attempt at reviving one of the best 2D platforming series out there and so far this wii-make bombed in Japan. If we want to ever see a proper Klonoa 3 release it is up to the NA and PAL markets to show Namco that people still love this series. At the 30 dollar price point you can't lose because this game just screams quality. Anyone who loves platformers, old school style games, or just wants a good Wii game for once, go do yourself a huge favor and pick up a copy. You won't regret it!

I'm hoping Klonoa can find a new home on the Wii because he fits the console perfectly.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well Ence claims to have it already on his backloggery and he's from ca too. So I'm sure my gamestop will have it tomorrow.
A specialized vendor in Tulare released the game on the Wednesday that Amazon said it was supposed to be released, so that's the day I got mine because GameStop refused to give it to me that day. I canceled my pre-order with them but, since they wouldn't give me a refund for it, I had to take store credit for it which I then used to buy Samba De Amigo for Wii.

At the 30 dollar price point you can't lose because this game just screams quality. Anyone who loves platformers, old school style games, or just wants a good Wii game for once, go do yourself a huge favor and pick up a copy. You won't regret it!

I was only kidding when Miles and I had this conversation on MSN...
Quote:
Miles: the only thing I hate about the package is the manual being in french too.
BigCN401: lol french
BigCN401: THEY SHOULD HAD ADDED FRENCH LANGUAGE TRACK!
Lo and behold!

Time to use Gecko OS and force language to French!

*few minutes later*
Eh, Spanish Klonoa is better.

BTW I tried setting to the other language but it doesn't work on my NTSC Wii. It might work on a PAL Wii. This also mean that the game is basically finish for Europe.

Beat it last night and of course, I loved the game. Forgot how short it was but the budget pricing makes it work out fine in the end.

I was surprised by the Costume room after I beat the game, but very happy that I could switch to Klonoa's Zipper outfit from the subsequent games. Going through reverse mode now.

Yeah just unlocked a bunch of stuff by beating the game. Do you unlock music or something by beating the unlockables or getting 100 % completion on all stages? Not completely sure I want to go back through a few stages where I might have missed one coin or a few dudes. I'm not even sure how it calculates a fully completed stage anyway.

Maybe it's just me but besides the neat filter and some of the water graphics and stuff the game didn't look as good as Klonoa 2. But then again perhaps they're going with some sort of simple style here. I didn't like seeing Hewpoe's polygons in every cutscene for instance. I guess the game was a hodge podge of quality is all. Good game still.

Beat the extra tower stage to get the music box. You thought it looked worse than Klonoa 2? After playing both games back to back the remake of 1 looks much better visually, though the level design and difficulty balance is so so much better in 2.

Do you get anything for getting all of the crystals in a stage beyond the blue dream crystal that shows up underneath it?

I don't think so but collecting the dream stone is part of unlocking stuff at the end of the game (according to the Japanese version; I don't know if they change it for the NA version because I manage to collect EVERYTHING on my first run XD).

- You'll unlock the costume if you collect, in total, 600, 900 and 1200 dream stone.
There's 1800 dream stone in total (if I did my math right) so you shouldn't have a problem getting up to 1200 dream stone on your first run (unless you purposely avoid collecting it).

- And if you collect at least 100 dream stone in each vision and beat the game, you'll unlock reverse/mirror mode and the Extra Vision.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Oh man.

So this is my first exposure to the Klonoa series. Finally beat the game last night. Darn if that is not one of the most depressing videogame endings I've ever seen. I was expecting "ha-ha fluffybottom Phantomilian gibberish" - not that.

Are the endings of K2 or the GBA games that "BAAAAAWWWW" worthy?
