Also - people who care about PC Gaming are stuck in the 1990s. Its a dead world that is kept afloat by the minimal RTS and MMP market. Remember when PC games were ported to consoles? Now its the other way around - you're outdated, Pang. Accept the fact the world has passed by your niche market.

No one cares about specs anymore because no one wants to bother putting it together. Everyone wants a magic box that works every time you turn it on and doesn't require worrying about if the newest games are going to run with optiminal, recommended or minimal requirements.

The problem is that for whatever reason the hard truth is that PC gaming *is* in a decline. No amount of console versus PC argument changes the fact that the market for PC games has been reduced significantly in the last five years - and that developers are increasingly shying away from PC projects because they've lost a lot of money on them. It's not just a harsh personal criticism -- it's just what's actually happening.

Sorry, I swapped 152. Its suppose to read 512, which is perfectly fine for storage if you're going to play L4D and make a profile and all that noise.

You're ignoring tons of dynamics of the market today. Certain games (MMOs, more complex simulations, some casual games) have a better chance of success on the PC. Other games (racing, sports, shooters, party games, adventure games) do better on consoles today. You can point to odd exceptions here and there - baselessly, at that, but the numbers are what they are. Looking at EA, which strongly supports as many platforms as possible, PC sales are down to about 15% the size of the console market. PC sales declined 20% last year, and the main three console game sales increased 50% compared to the prior year.

It's all pretty meaningless if you have an eight-core PC with four gigs of RAM and a graphics card that can push 12 jiggatexels/second, because what are you going to do with it in 2009? Run Flight Simulator X at a higher resolution? Run World of Warcraft or Sims 3 at a higher frame rate? PC gaming and console gaming really only has a small token area of overlap anymore. They're not mutually exclusive; I have a computer that cost me $2,500 four years ago thats still mid-level quality now with the 3.2 GHz processor and giant fucking video card that cost more than the PC I had before - but I (and most others) mainly just use them to post pictures to Facebook and update Chocojournal and use Photoshop. When I want to play a game, I'd much rather do it sitting on my couch in front of my 58" screen with giant stereo system and talking shit to Plarom and Paco while you and Sass and Dopefish play on Steam with... who? I mean, we had eight GFF people running on the same game yesterday - where were YOU three?

Long story short because of your internet attention span: every big budget game today is going to be a console game -- because consoles make up *so* much more of the market now than they did ten and twenty years ago. If you're going to spend $20 million on a video game in 2009 then it's a sure bet that it's either an MMO or a cross-platform title - and that its somehow the next Half-Life 2.
