About Cally:

I totally called it as soon as the episode started. I'm not sure what it was... but she looked different. Did they have to replace her actress or something? Either way, that was sort of a big hint in the direction of where they were taking the episode. And loved it.

And Baltar...

The whole Baltar as a religious entity sort of irks me, but I'm sure they'll pull something off by the end of the season to make it completely legitimate. And good. Or something. I hope.

I'm not liking the religious aspect of this season... A little bit too overwhelming in my opinion.

Can't wait till they reveal the fifth one at last.

I'm really impressed, they actually manage to deliver a thoroughly coherent and very tense season so far.
Season IV is suffering from Babylon 5 syndrom. And by suffering I mean it's what brings the show back to it's old strenghts. Doesn't happen that often that a franchise truly recovers from a period of suck.

I'm really enjoying the religious aspect of this season as well as comming closer to revealing the 5 cylons. of course WE know who 4 are.. I've always thought baltar was one of them.

Also looking forward to finding out why 6 and baltar see each other when no one else can. The religious aspect combine with the other seasons suicide bombers sorta reminds me of the clash between peacefull and non peacefull religions, OR how some religions can seem peacefull but use it as a ruse to cause chaos, murder and such.. I'm not 100% sure where they are taking this but we shall see.

On a side note I wonder if any one has every argueed Boomer or Six..

i'm so happy this season is finally here. i can't believe it took so long. I remember sitting in awe of the season finale only to find out 2 hours later that my wife was pregnant with little pfitz3. what a night of shockers that was...

something has been sticking in my head ever since last weeks episode. When Athena was having the opera house vision towards the end that paralelled with alot of the events that were happening real time, does anyone think it strange or too coincidental that at the same time during the opera house vision where 6 picks up Hera and takes her away, Tyrol is the one to pick up Hera IRL.

It just seems like they are going to go somewhere with that little bit. Am I reading too much into it?

oh and it's been a long time, i almost forgot about this place, amazing what you can think of when you're up with a migrane at 3am

I think that part of the episode, she wasn't actually having the vision. I think they were just making a comparison, showing that what she saw was coming true. Or something. Maybe.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Um, so the mid-season finale was a couple weeks ago, and it was easily one of the best episodes in the history of man. A lot happened, and it all happened fairly quick, but it never felt rushed. The post-apocalyptic earth was probably the best choice of earth as to not be something too cheesy, and will of course move the plot along. So no BSG til 2009. =/

Oh, and they totally forgot that there's still one more unknown cylon.

I'm not entirely sure they 'forgot'. When D'Anna first spoke to Roslin after the big Hub battle, she said 'Four. Four are in the fleet.'

...Thinking that over, was she bullshitting Roslin, or was she saying the last Cylon is somewhere else? [ie Earth, with the Cylons, somewhere else?]

The final fifth cannot be in the fleet. As far as can tell, there really isn't anything special about the final fifth compared to the others of the final five. I don't see why D'anna would refrain from asking about the final fifth if he/she were in the fleet. The only logical explanation is that the final fifth is not in the fleet. Maybe D'anna does not even know who the final fifth is, as in he/she is not Colonial or crap.

The final fifth may be on Earth and may have used some funky device to trigger the music playing in the other final five within the colonial fleet and to activate the specific viper emergency beacon.

ok, so since the new season has started again, i'm wondering if anybody is still watching or did they give up since we had to wait another year almost to see the final episodes.

things have been interesting so far.

Ellen as the final cylon.
Zarek and Gaeta leading a mutiny.
WTF is Starbuck.
Hot Dog is really little Nicky's dad, not Tyrol.

Lots of questions to be answered in 6 episodes.

There's actually no questions to be answered in the final episodes. Everything pretty much resolved in the latest episode, all that is left is the final fate of the entire fleet. Seems kind of a bleak ending to just leave them wondering around in space.

The only thing that has NOT been revealed is the one last remaining cylon. It is not Ellen, that was just Saul's hallucination. I'm sort of still thinking it is Zak. That would actually explain something. But the final episodes have been so shitty, that, ultimately, I don't care anymore.

While I wasn't overjoyed with Ellen being the "final" cylon, IMO it does fit. And at this point the writers have opened the flood gates with 13th tribe cylon resurrection tech, anyone in the fleet could be a 13th tribe skinjob. They just wouldn't be one of the 5 priests that were devoted to the cylong god that everyone puts so much stock in.

I have plenty of questions.

WTF is the deal with the opera house vision?
What will happen to Tigh and Caprica 6's kid?
WTF is so important about Hera that they retcon'd Nicky into not being a half breed to so she could be the only one?
Who nuked Earth?
Is it our Earth?
If so is it our past or our future?
Since there were 13 tribes are there 13 different models of skinjobs?
WTF is the 6 that is always in Baltar's head?

Maybe some of those have been answered and I don't get it. Maybe they will be left for me to ponder on my own little self. I'm still ejoying the ride. It's better than watching Superman whine about Lana for 8 seasons.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

My brother came up with an interesting theory that's had me thinking for a while:

Spoiler:
Ellen is an older six - we haven't seen the real final cylon yet.

Although with the preview showing her being resurrected as the same old cougar, I'm not so sure.

What was up with Dee offing herself? Did the actress just want out? It seemed sudden and pointless.

Dee blowing her brains out was pretty cool. There was no hesitation. She basically said "fuck it i can't take anymore of this flyin around for no reason bullshit, i'm out" and did it. Not sure what the point of it was. maybe they used it as the straw that broke the camel's back. from what i gathered, once everyone saw or heard what happened to Dee, they all went crazy or said fuck it things have to change. The two people in the room right afterwards ended up being part of the mutiny, Gaeta and Selix. Adama was ready to blow his own head off. who knows, maybe they're trying to tie up the stories of all the major and quasi-major characters, maybe they decided Lee and Kara should end up together so they had to off Dee.

as for the someone other than Ellen has to be the final cylon theories, i think we (me included) are looking for more than what's there. some of the spoiler stuff on a couple of the bsg boards noted that the reveal of the final cylon wouldn't be mind blowing. i just don't think we'll get a twist on the final fifth, save Ellen coming back and she's sided with Cavil's evil cylons.

Well, as much as I'd like to see someone other than Ellen as the fifth, the producers have confirmed that she is, in fact, the final Cylon. There's got to be some kind of twist with her, though. It just wouldn't be BSG without it. Heh.

In the preview for No Exit though, when we see Ellen in the tank, it almost looks like D'Anna, with the darker hair and all.

I'm rephrasing my words a bit. Ellen is still useless, but the shit maelstrom her return caused sort of gave rise to a new catalyst in the ship. A wish to reunite the two completely different races. I wonder how furiously John is going to react to that. Will he be the final boss, so to speak?

This series could end on a very heart touching note, I'm hoping now. Before this, I was sort of hoping for a big bang at the end of the series, but things seem to fade back out. I realise, the big bang was in between complete solaces. That is one of the ways to understand our universe's time before OUR big bang.

Yeah, I take things too metaphysically.

So they're abandoning ship...which makes it expendable enough to lose dramatically in an all-out final showdown.

Bringing Boomer back was a fantastic idea.

I'm glad that this show isn't slowing down at all.

It faltered a little, but holy FUCK they're bringing sexy back for the final stretch. Last week's episode was enjoyable, but holy FUCK the prior episode (Someone to Watch Over Me) had one of the best climaxes I've ever seen in an episode of anything ever.

I'm rather excited for the finale, but at the same time, kinda sad that it's going to end soon. I really do hope that they're actually going to explain the few remaining loose ends (Baltar's hallucinatory Six, Six's hallucinatory Baltar, everything about Starbuck, number seven/Daniel, whatever else I've missed...)

Bring on Caprica!

the sad thing is that no matter how good Caprica may be, it just won't be BSG. I wonder if they'll ever really say what Starbuck is. One episode they make it look like she might be a cylon/human mutt (maybe the piano player was a Daniel that survived Cavil's Cain/Able shit fit) or is she a head being/ angel that everyone can see? I'm very excited about this finale.

So now it's over. The final episode lasted a grand 1,5 hours and reminded me more and more of Return of the King as it went on and on. The fates of Starbuck, Anders and Lee really got to me. Those three were what the series was about to me. "See you on the other side."

Out of interest I also watched The Last Frakkin' Special, which was a load of bullshit. They just gave an excuse to why the storyline sucked for two seasons: "oh... yeah... this... uh... show was about...uhh... characters and stuff... we explain that in the last episode watch it and stop complaining..." Well, it's sort of true.

I'm glad they explained everything, in a faint passing, but at least everything was there. It was a nice touch to the whole cycle. The eerie ending "philosophy" also reminded me quite a lot of Metal Gear Solid games.

Dean Stockwell's horrible one liners almost ruined the whole episode for me. I DO NOT WANT SCREWBALL COMEDY IN MY EPIC SERIOUS BATTLESTAR GALACTICA FINAL EPISODE.

I thought the battle against the Cylon base was pretty spiffy, though you'd think the humans would've been more prepared for a quick exit rather than a strategy of "get Hera quickly, then duke it out with every last Cylon before leaving." The only thing that really bugged me about that half was Dean Stockwell's suicide after the truce was broken. He was obsessed with survival, and then he shot himself rather than going out fighting like everyone else. What the hell?

Once they found Earth the episode became pretty crappy. Maybe it wouldn't have been quite as bad without SciFi interrupting for commercials every 5 minutes, but it was just so corny. Practically every loose end was resolved with "lol angels did it" which was absolute shit in regard to Starbuck since they ran every conceivable test on her after her return. She was biological and shouldn't have just vanished. Considering that the whiny civilian population has been a running theme since the beginning, it was a tremendous cop-out to say they were all fine with abandoning every bit of civilization they had for the hope of a clean slate. I think I would've preferred Galactica 1980, and that's saying something.

Right, now that it's been long enough after watching the finale that I can say stuff about it other than: "AWESOME!" I'll try and write up my thoughts about it properly:

AWESOME!

One hell of a finale. I keep bringing up quality comparisons to Babylon 5 and I'm not gonna stop here. It's the best finale I've seen to a show since 'Sleeping in Light' and like 'Sleeping in Light' it bloody well made me tear up. Seeing Galactica and the rest of the fleet heading towards the Sun gave me a lump in my throat, then Roslin's death finally made me well up properly. I don't even like Roslin, but Olmos made that scene all the more powerful. Baltar realising he'll be spending the rest of his life as a farmer got me going too.

The action in this episode was immense! It exceeded my best expectations in every way imaginable. I was watching it and thinking: "Holy Moly, Galactica's taking an absolute pounding but still not blown up. Don't make 'em like they used to." And when you think about it, they really don't. Look at Pegasus. Pretty much in tip-top condition for the battle over New Caprica, but barely lasted long at all. Compare that to Galactica in the finale, a ship which by all intents and purposes should fall apart if you sneezed on her, yet there she is taking rail gun rounds, missiles, RAMMING A BLOODY GIANT BASESHIP like she's brand new! I reckon she just flew straight through the Sun, she's that tough.

As for the actual meat and potatoes of the show, I got the answers to the questions I wanted mostly. I don't much give a damn about Hera, what I cared about was the Opera House and Head Baltar/Six. I would've liked to have known exactly what Kara was as well, but I honestly have no idea. Angel, apparition, God, who the hell knows.

The only thing I didn't like was the little montage at the end. I expected it to say "Domo arigato misuta Robotto" rather than Ronald D Moore, but there we go.

Overall, an amazing finale and now with BSG ended and The Clone Wars finished for the season, all I have to download now is Lost :'(. What am I gonna do with myself now?!

I was speaking idiomatically.

Oh yeah, I forgot, but did someone else notice. The special effects of this final episode were complete shit compared to the prime work seen on almost every other episode. Seems well rushed, and that "attack" on the Cylon base was just complete waste of time. Random shooting with no sense of orientation for the viewer, maybe because of the horrible camerawork.

Yeah, a complete failure from the technical crew.
