Motsognir shifts one square left and tries to overturn the closest coffin onto the spider swarm, knowing his axe is less helpful than usual with things like this.
fucked if I know what to roll in this situation What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
It is never successful. Throwing hammer: miss There were spiders all around Bob, endless in number. Oh, they were only after the meat-shield now but it was a matter of time. The line had to be drawn. He knew his plan might result in casualties. So be it. A pyrrhic victory is better than none. Scorching Burst: 20 damage to orange & green swarms (green bloodied), 10 to Argumentus Unable to summon up the pure power of shiny that Gabe had marshalled, Brigid only succeeds in putting a little spotlight onto the swarm. Well, it was possible that spiders suffer from stage fright. You can't rule these things out in advance. Daunting Light: miss, advantage granted to... Arg I guess? Argumentus is covered in flaming spiders. Everything is very rapidly going wrong for him. Ongoing 5 poison; bloodied Swarm Aura(s): Arg is slowed (save ends), 8 damage Passing Attack: miss (no secondary attack or free shift on a miss, chum) Seeing a chance to slow down the onrushing horde, Soggy tries to overturn one of the old caskets to use as a barrier. Hngggh...... hrrrrrrgh. Guh. Wizardry really takes a lot out of you. What did these people eat, their bones weigh a goddamn ton. Swarm aura: 12 damage to Soggy, 5 ongoing poison Soggy shifts.... southwest because Brady doesn't know the rules, sorry The swarm surges southward, brushing past the front line to get to the soft, edible-looking wizard before he could cook any more of them. Orange swarm vs Brigid: miss Arg's War Pick: 7 damage (After resistance) to yellow swarm Yellow swarm vs. Bob: 8 damage, ongoing 5 poison Green swarm vs. Mots: miss Pretty much everybody's in the swarm aura now, so you'll all be Slowed at the start of your turns ![]() FELIPE NO |
The spiders and the big guy burst into flames. His desperate flailing did little to slow their advance and in fact, they swarmed over him and began attacking me! In these close confines and backed against the wall as I was, another fireball would involve injuring my companions even further and I had nowhere to run to. As the horrid, biting creatures attacked me, my mind-shield activated almost without me thinking about it and my robes, as they had in the fight against the elves, burst into flames, incinerating still more of the nasty spiders. I lashed out with my staff, sweeping through the creatures and crushing as many as I could. Throwing caution to the wind, I ran past the dwarf next to me and round the corner, relying on my natural defensive mobility and shield to protect me from further harm. The spiders however seemed to be exuding some kind of aura however that slowed my movements down to a relative crawl and I didn't get nearly as far as I had hoped! SHIELD ON, FLAME ON, staff attack on spiders, move 2 squares east What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() ![]() |
The dwarf lashed out angrily at the spiders, flailing in a very upset manner before sliding away from the spiders. Covered as they were, this was going to go poorly. He made for the doorway in order to buy the wizard more time to hurl some fireballs once he got behind him.
bolstering strike on yellow spiders Shift to u31 Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
Shift to Q31
Commander's strike Arg -> Orange Swarm There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Argumentus experiences Second Wind ffffffffffffffff This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I reckon I could use one'a these coffin lids and just overturn that on the swarm, and just commense to stompin'.
Pick up the lid on my square, overturn it on the orange swarm commense to stompin' on the lid I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Yellow Swarm Aura: 13 damage to Gabe; ongoing 5 poison damage (save ends) Bolstering Strike: 6 damage to Yellow Swarm (after resistance). Gabe's temp HP +2 All saves successful Despite his arcane defenses, the sheer numbers of the spider swarm are too much for Bob to hold off. He, too, falls back after ineffectually waving his stick. Shield is inadequate to prevent previous bite 5 ongoing poison damage AoO: 6 damage to Bob (bloodied) Fireburst Robes: 5 damage to Yellow Swarm All saves failed Continuing the horde's strange new interest in furniture rearrangement, Brigid also attempts to flip over a casket component onto the swarm. She fares no better. Orange Swarm Aura: 7 damage to Brigid; ongoing 5 poison damage (save ends) Lid inadequately flipped Save vs poison successful Beset by all three swarm clusters at one, Motsognir scarcely has time to react before he goes down beneath a tide of tiny legs. 5 ongoing poison damage Green Swarm Aura: hit (rolled 9 on 1d20): damage 12 (rolled 10 on 2d6) Yellow Swarm Aura: hit (rolled 17 on 1d20): damage 11 (rolled 9 on 2d6) Motsognir knocked right the fuck out Save vs poison: failed (rolled 1 on 1d20) save vs slow: success (rolled 14 on 1d20) save vs. death: failed (rolled 9 on 1d20). Motsognir is two failures from death. Still smoldering a little, Arg also keels over under the weight of the swarm. ongoing 5 poison damage Orange Swarm Aura: hit (rolled 5 on 1d20): damage 7 (rolled 5 on 2d6) Green Swarm Aura: hit (rolled 11 on 1d20): damage 12 (rolled 10 on 2d6) Argumentus knocked out also Save vs poison successful save vs slow failed (rolled 8 on 1d20) save vs death successful (rolled 16 on 1d20). Argumentus remains stable. The front line annihilated, the swarm pushes forward to eliminate the rest of the intruders. Orange Swarm vs Brigid: hit (rolled 6 on 1d20): damage 8 (rolled 6 on 2d6); 5 ongoing poison damage Green Swarm vs Brigid: miss (rolled 1 on 1d20) Yellow Swarm vs Bob: hit (rolled 15 on 1d20): damage 6 (rolled 4 on 2d6) Fireburst Robe: 3 damage to Yellow Swarm (rolled 3 on 1d8) Once again, everyone starts their turns Slowed. ![]() I was speaking idiomatically.

Reason: "You have plenty of HP", they said. "You can take it."

Despite the spiders swarming over me, I lifted my staff and attempted to put the spiders to sleep before ducking back into what I hoped was the relative safety of the corridor we had come from, grabbing the healing potion from my belt and downing it in one smooth draught. Sleep at T29, move to U30, drink healing potion What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() ![]()

It's all coming back to me now... webbing slowly surrounding us without us even moving, the cacophony of millions of little legs, Jebediah being pulled into the whirlpool of white...
Healing Word on the fragile dwarf Switch to mace if I can Crush the green swarm with Priest's Shield, bonus to Soggy FELIPE NO |
lay hands on bob
back peddle the fuck away from the scary spiders as much as possible What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
Yellow Swarm Aura: 10 damage to Gabe, ongoing 5 poison Lay on Hands: Bob's HP +9 Save vs poison succeeds Despite the paladin's Reassuring Pat On The Back, the spiders are too much for Bob to handle. Try as he might, he can't manage to get through the incantation of sleep he has prepared. His flaming robes still searing one spider after another, he tumbles over. 5 ongoing poison damage Yellow Swarm Aura: 9 damage to Bob Fireburst Robes: 2 damage to Yellow Swarm Green Swarm Aura: 10 damage to Bob Fireburst Robes: 7 damage to Green Swarm Bob unconscious Death save: success. Bob remains stable. Her mind full of horrible memories, Brigid knows that Gabriel and herself will never be able to best the swarm alone. She shouts to Motsognir for assistance, and the dwarf resentfully slaps the spiders away from his face before squinting around. 5 ongoing poison damage Orange Swarm Aura: 5 damage to Brigid Green Swarm Aura: 4 damage to Brigid Yellow Swarm Aura: 6 damage to Brigid Healing Word: Motsognir returns to consciousness (15 HP) Priest's Shield: miss Soggy is deeply disappointed in his companions. What's the point in taking a nap if these jokers can't even clean things up in the meantime? Ongoing 5 poison damage Orange Swarm Aura: 7 damage to Mots Mots is prone and at 3 HP, but conscious! Run for it, you beautiful bastard! Motsognir, Argumentus, Bloodweb Spider Swarms, Gabriel, Bob, Brigid Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Motsognir crawls away like a little bitch.
Shift to P29 Second Wind There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Shift to Q30 and then another shift to P29, I guess? Two moves & a minor, 's good Second Wind: Motsognir's HP +10, and defense bonuses Save vs poison successful Argumentus remains unconscious Save vs death failed. Argumentus is two failures away from death. Having spent the last of her strength in saving Motsognir, Brigid falls to the swarm. Orange Swarm attack: 11 damage to Brigid, 5 ongoing poison damage Brigid is unconscious The rest of the swarm move for the last target in their rampage of vengeance. In an astonishing display of reflexes, Gabriel manages to swat away the vast majority of the vermin trying to bite him. Yellow Swarm attack: 7 damage to Gabe, 5 ongoing poison damage Beginning of Gabe's turn: ongoing 5 poison damage ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I ain't ready to die yet!
Souped up second chance Most amazing jew boots |
The dwarf merely ducked his head and ran the hell away as fast as he could, making back for the way they'd come. Stupid spiders.
Flee + full defense + AP + Flee more I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD.

"Shit."
"Fucking spiders." Inspiring Words to Arg Inspiring Words to Brigid What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Second Chance... ends up with absolutely no difference in the results. Sorry. Gabriel continues his terrified escape. I mean... strategic retreat. Yeah. That's much more Paladinly. Kord would approve of a strategic retreat. Gabe shifts one south, then walks two south. Total Defense. The elf and the halfling lie around and and just chill for a little bit. Bob takes 5 ongoing poison damage Bob's Death Save: success. Bob remains stable. Brigid takes 5 ongoing poison damage Brigid's Death Save: failed. Brigid is two failures from death. With the majority of the party lying senseless on the floor, Soggy makes the command decision to wake up the biggest one and hide behind him. Inspiring Word: Arg's HP restored to 16 Orange Swarm Aura: 9 damage to Arg + 5 ongoing poison Healing Potion: Arg's HP +10 Continuing to ignore the reviving fighters behind them, the spiders continue pursuing Gabe in fits and starts. Damn his stubby little legs! Yellow Swarm Attack: 9 damage to Gabe Start of Gabe's turn 5 ongoing poison Yellow aura misses ![]() FELIPE NO |
With some healing words, Argumentus stands up from prone, shifts north, and downs a potion of healing.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
"Death-man!" Motsognir desperately yelled out to the Reaper, who he knew was lingering. "If you fuck up these spiders for us, I'll give you those kids. Seriously. Come help a dude out."
inspiring Words To Jam it back in, in the dark. |

Divine Mettle: save vs. poison failed. Fuuuuuuuuuuuck Second Wind: Gabe's HP +12, plus defense bonuses Bob just keeps a-layin' there like a big ol' sack of rags. Bob takes 5 ongoing poison damage Saves: fail, fail, fail The poison works its vile way at last to the halfling's fluttering heart, and in a last surge of strength she tears the holy symbol from her neck and holds it aloft. "Fine", she mutters, almost inaudible. "Fine. I was gettin' homesick anyway." A bolt of bright light spears out of the tomb's ceiling, and Brigid is suddenly enveloped in an eye-searing illumination too bright to look upon. When it subsides, there is no sign of the cleric. Her armor crumples to the floor, empty. Brigid takes 5 ongoing poison damage Brigid dies. Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: Horrified by Brigid's death, Soggy rapidly descends into desperation. The elf responds to his cries for help, painfully rising into a crouch. Inspiring Word: Bob regains consciousness. Restored to 10 HP. But Motsognir knows this may not be enough. With the desire to save his own neck foremost on his mind, he cuts a deal with the lurking evil just on the other side of the door. The reaper darts back through the door, chuckling unpleasantly. "Fair enough, dwarf. Your word is bond." The creature darts forward, his scythe ripping through the nearest cluster of spiders before he vanishes and reappears in the midst of the other clusters. The reaper fades to translucency, and the angry spiders leap through him as though he wasn't there. Reaper: 6 damage to Orange Swarm; bloodied Start of Arg's turn: 5 ongoing poison damage ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
The dwarf frowned at the appearance of the reaper. The death of his friend was bad enough, but this... soggy's soul was all but lost.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
Soggy's soul might be dead, but his ass was alive.
