Stupid question: Does this apply to Final Fantasy Tactics as well? I remember the game went out of print for about a year - and then the first batch of Greatest Hits discs didn't work in most PSX or PS2 systems and were recalled or something.
I'd never heard the GH games had a hard time working in systems. But I -do- know you can find this game in a bunch of stores still. The black label ones go pricey online, but the GH copies can be cheap cheap due to common.

Please tell me this was thrown in for free. Because there's no reason a sane person would have paid money for CoD3 when it could have gone towards paying for CoD4.

Okami's a great game, for sure. I paid full price for it and still felt like I more than got my money's worth.

In other news, while it's not a "purchase" I did receive a free copy of Far Cry 2 for the 360. Publisher sent it out a week early as a free gift.
Well hello fellow Gamestop manager (I assume?)

I got Farcry 2 as well this week.

Other than that.....

Well, my 360 is starting to show signs of overheating issues (again.) Which involves horrendous amount of lag, screen tearing and sometimes complete freezing. The lag wasn't the usual half second network lag I sometimes see. It felt like the kind of lag when you try to run windows XP on a 286 machine.

So today I decided to trade it in (minus my hdd) for one of the 360 arcade bundles + sega superstar tennis. It's supposedly has the new 65nm CPU and GPU board so it should greatly reduce the chance of overheating to occur. And uh*cough*hdmi*cough.* Of course I had to jump on that since I do plan on playing Gears 2 next month.

Surprisingly the clerk (gamestop) took it despite all that. It seems the inspection they do isn't so rigorous. Anyway, it paid for half of the arcade version and now I feel relieved I no longer have a first generation 360. I think I'll catch up on all those games I missed out on =D

How ya doing, buddy?

I bought Fable II last week, and I'm really enjoying it. Extremely easy game that makes damn sure you know where to go next, but I think that's what I like about it. Also I married the ugliest swamp woman in one of the towns and got an STD. WE HAVE A LOVELY HOUSE. IT HAS A TABLE. ^___^

But I also got these;

Wonderboy sure is a dense looking bastard.

And I pre-ordered Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ on DS based on the name alone.

Oh man, look at that starburst ACTION on Wonderboy 3. You can tell just how ACTION-packed it's going to be.

Yesterday I got rid of a shit ton of games I hadn't played in years and picked up LittleBigPlanet on a whim, which is probably the most fun I've had with my PS3. It's charming, fun, and challenging, and also is one of the better looking titles on the platform.

The soundtrack also caught me off-guard as being awesome. The first non-tutorial level features The Go! Team, though I can't find the Audio prize bubble for it anywhere.

Got the GOTY after years of waiting. Gonna go play it until my PS3 crashes after class (if I can get it to turn on).

Actually, I got Devil May Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed for PS3, No More Heroes AND Blast Works for about $20 each from GameFly over the course of the past month. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Fuck Sony, where's my SECOND box?

Last week I got my PSP back from my cousin and went out and bought a few games I didn't have for it already. Since they were having a buy-2-get-1-free sale I bought Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and Metal Slug Anthology for $15 a piece and got Patapon for free. I also pre-ordered Gears of War 2 since I'm just brutally stoked to play that game once and for all.

So your PS3 is going to crash right after class? Sounds more unstable than a 360.

I played for maybe four hours before my PS3 was done. It was the best four hours of my life, but I wanted more. I'm sending it out tomorrow.

I think what happened was Sony did a full refurbish on my console except somehow didn't quite fix the problem. So it wasn't really a full refurbish. After a thorough bitching (actually it was just a really nice customer service rep), they said they'd send me a brand new console.

Let's hope it works when I get it back on probably Monday. A whole week. I guess I should be used to it by now.

And now, the culmination of my spending spree with GameStop's "buy two, get one free" deal.

1 - Fallout 3 Official Game Guide: Collector's Edition
More of a game-related purchase, but I felt like showing it. Mostly refraining from looking at it until I pick up the game tomorrow, but it's definitely got a lot of information in it. Map's flippin' huge.

2 - Dynasty Tactics 2
Part chess, part Suikoden war battles. I like the lack of Dynasty Warriors cheese since it brings it slightly closer in line with the respectable Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, but all the focus on Lu Bu is annoying. For fuck's sake, he's not that important in the story, Koei. He gets jealous and kills Dong Zhuo, dicks around for a little while, then dies pleading for his life. That's it.

3 - Gamecube Microphone
Bought solely for Odama.

4 - Wild ARMs 3
A little outdated in terms of RPG standards, but still a solid story and pretty enjoyable gameplay mechanics. Virginia's a good female protagonist for not being too contemplative or too spunky. It's also nice to go back and play the old Wild ARMs where you just charge madly in a single direction until hitting a wall.

5 - Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel
Yeah yeah, it pisses all over Fallout continuity and such. Blah blah. Shit story aside, it's fun to run around as what is essentially a zombie and punch giant scorpions in the face. A decent Baldur's Gate clone.

6 - Wario World
Treasure's attempt at a fairly normal platformer, which actually made Wario World into a pretty decent brawler. It's fun to grab hold of anything you can and piledrive it into the ground! Archaic "packrat" collection system as far as game progression goes, but still an enjoyable romp.

7 - Resident Evil Zero
Haven't gotten around to this yet, but I've heard good things. After going through Resident Evil 4 a couple times, it should be interesting to see how well I readjust to the old movement scheme.

8 - 360 Messenger Kit
Keyboard to make typing much more convenient. Skills can fire off messages pretty quick, but it'd take me five minutes to write two or three sentences. This already has made things so much simpler for me.

9 - Call of Duty 2
Fun stuff from the 360 launch. Wanted it for a long time, but was eventually forgotten. At $9.99 though, it's a steal. The controls are fine, the atmosphere is... acceptable, and the missions are varied enough to be interesting. Playing through the Brit scenario still.

10 - Odama
I was incredibly hyped for this game way back when, but got the flu and because disgusted with the game concept for some odd reason. Saw it for 10 bucks and pounced on it. The voice commands go through almost every time (a little surprising), but it's a damn hard game. Precision with the pinball/Odama is absolutely imperative.

11 - Baldur's Gate
Was the framerate always this choppy, or is the Gamecube port slightly inferior? Played this pretty extensively on the PS2 back in the day, decided to grab this version since it was there. The game is pretty much obsolete with newer clones out doing so much more, but it's still a great experience.

12 - Mega Man X: Command Mission
Completing the pictured set of cheap games is the Mega Man RPG. Cheese dialogue, bad story, odd gameplay choices. Sounds like the usual Mega Man crap! The combat is acceptable though, and the game is from the guys who brought us Dragon Quarter. Sold me on it day one.

Not pictured:

F-Zero GX
Gift.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Easily the best RPG on the Gamecube (of the three of them, ololol). Good, lighthearted humor, enjoyable timing-based battle system, ghosts of ambiguous gender. The usual stuff. Never beat the Pit of 100 Trials, which I'll have to do this time around. So much easier in Super Paper Mario, let me tell you.

Blue Dragon
Heard it was pretty much shit, but I needed another game around the $19.99 price range. There it was, sitting at $17.99. I liked Lost Odyssey, so we'll see how it goes.

.hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminiscence
CHEESE DIALOGUE. Jesus fucking Christ, I completely forgot about this.

Phew, that should do it!

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

It has definitely been a big spending spree for my wife and I over the last month for video games. Tonight was a pretty good night for picking up some classic games at the flea market.

Games we picked up for the flea market are:

Atari 2600
1.) Ice Hockey
2.) Ms. Pac Man
3.) Dig Dug (Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet)

SNES
1.) Lion King - One of the best Disney games ever for the Super Nintendo. With a beautiful soundtrack and an insane difficulty level it was a worthwhile purchase.

2.) Final Fantasy II - To own this cartridge is a sweet victory because ever since the game first got released in North America in 1991. It was a game I always wanted, but no matter where or how hard I looked I could never find it. It is good to finally own the actual cartridge, even though I have finished the game before.

Other games I picked up recently are:

DS
1.) Time Hollow
2.) Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
3.) Disgaea DS
4.) Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

PS3
1.) Eternal Sonata

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Apparently having a job is really bad for my backlog...I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that I don't even buy games to play them anymore. The last two weeks have yielded:

Sam & Max Hit the Road - $10, nuff said.

Final Fantasy Origins, Chronicles, Anthology, VIII, and IX - Someone was getting rid of their collection. Nabbed the lot for $20.

WarCraft II and III BattleChests - I've played the core games but never got around to the expansions. Dude was selling both for $10 so I figured why not.

Audiosurf and Eets - Got these during Steam's $2.50 sale.

Stuntman - $4 at GameStop.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus - $6 at GameStop. Also furries lol.

12 games for $55. And they'll last me way longer than 14 new dildos ever would. :'3

How ya doing, buddy?

I didn't buy fourteen dildos worth of videogames this weekend (the price of dildos is OUTRAGEOUS), but I did buy the remake of FF4 for the DS. I'm normally not a fan of videogame remakes... but the graphics are gorgeous, the fixed the grammar errors, Cecil has voice-acting, and they didn't tamper with the story. A formula for pure awesomeness. I also got an original copy of Time Crisis II in the box with the guncon, and Morrowind in perfect condition game of the year edition for 4.99!

I purchased Gears of War 2 recently, being the huge Gears of War fanboy I am (but not huge enough to shell out the extra money for the special edition) I made sure I got this. I beat it yesterday, and unlike the first game I really enjoyed the campaign in this one; of course loving the multi player, and the sole reason I bought the game.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I bought Killer 7 on the PS2 at a closing down K-Mart for $8. It was 10 but there was a 20% discount on it.

Almost got Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne but I wasn't sure if I had that or not. I didn't. I have Digital Devil Saga 2. Oh well maybe next trip.

The last game I purchased lies a while back now (I'm saving for a PS3) and it was S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Clear Skym, Collector's Edition. Had a lot of fun with Shadow of Chernobyl and at least the same amount of fun with Clear Sky, even though I haven't had the chance to play through it yet.
