.The game really is different than what I initially expected it to be – a fast(er) paced 3rd person shooter with stealth elements thrown into the gameplay. Ho-damn was I wrong. I didn’t like the game at all at first, but I kept hearing that you have to “give the game a chance and it will eventually grow on you.” This game is all about tactics – something I’m starting to really appreciate. Too bad 4/5’s of the people on the Beta still treat it as if they were playing CoD4. If you run into the open guns a blazin’, you’re gonna get put down.
I think thats been the problem that most have been facing, thinking more along the lines of it being a fast paced shooter akin to something like COD4 given its the popular shooter now but getting some completely different with MGO. I even struggled at the start because I was so used to COD4 and the new controls for MGO took some getting used to but once I mastered the controls and mechanics along with some awesome encounters and moments I was hooked. All the best games I've had is when playing with my buddies since we always work as a team so tactical is always the name of game, always linked with SOP and always communicate.

I just haven't been on lately given work has been kicking my ass this week with 55hrs leaving no love for MGO. =/

I was speaking idiomatically.

I know this is a month old but it caught me as someone who played the beta. Will anyone be playing MGO when it launches? If so I'll have my network info and Konami id up when I can remember them.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Or am i crazy i thought i read it somewhere unless its ready on June 12th. Either way i'm there.

PSN: RaajTM
Konami ID/Name: Raaj

Even if it's a long wait, it's there in advance if anyone wants to add me.

I'll definitely be playing MGO, but I'm not touching it till I've finished MGS4 (well, maybe I'll create my character first). Last thing I want is some idiot to yell/message out story spoilers. As for the service, it should be online come the game's release on the 12th.

Oh and don't bother posting Konami/Game ID's, as they won't actually help you link up with other players. Your character's name is the only thing you'll need to give out.

haHA!!! When you get the game, there's a new update available. IT FIXES THE GODDAMN SPEED!!! I am actually RUNNING now.

Anyways, player speed has significantly been increased, thank god. I thought this was one of the biggest problems with the beta - I am absolutely thrilled that it has been fixed. Thank you, Konami.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I know that mostly everybody is concerned with finishing the single player campaign before they even think about jumping onto the whole multiplayer scene, but I was just wondering how everybody plans on customizing their online characters 4 skill slots.

I haven't played enough to level up any of the skills I currently have equipped, but I know that once I DO level some up, I'm going to have some tough decisions to make.

I'm really torn on what I want right now - I can't decide if I want to be a broad based soldier with four many level 1 skills, or if I want to be a little more generalized with two level 2 skills, or if I want to be completely specialized with one level 3 skill with a level 1 skill (lvl. 3 Knifing + lvl. 1 CQC )

I want to slit people throats (SO. BAD.), but I don’t think I could ever sacrifice my precious movement speed and assault rifle skills just for a single move. Same goes with CQC – I would LOVE to disarm people and leave them dumfounded on what just happened to them, but you’re wasting three skill slots just to disarm a person.

I really think I might just end up using a level 2 skill (assault rifle mastery) with two level 1 skills, such as movement and possibly CQC. I think that’s decently well rounded, and can stand up against most situations in a fight. Really though, I guess I will just have to play around with the skills and see which ones I like and don’t like :/…

What are your guys plans?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The way how I customized in the beta was :

Fast Movement - To get away from the enemy quicker =p
CQC - This has helped me more than one could realize, especially when you need to reload on your main weapon, and someone is nearby, just pull out the pistol and choke hold them.
Assault Rifles - Helps with main weapons.
Awareness(able to see other players being attacked and so on) - Recently with the game, this has changed quite a bit. I've been seeing people with the skill more and more, including if they don't have silencers on the guns, they show up.

What I currently have equipped for skills is Lv 3 Assault Rifle and Lv 2 Monomania (I'm pretty this was called "Enemy Exposure" in the Beta). I'm thinking of jungling it around to be either this set up of Assault Rifle Lv2, Quarterback Lv3 (only costs 1 pt), and Monomania Lv3 (only costs 1 pt). Or Assault Rifle Lv2, Runner Lv1, and Monomania Lv3. It's a flip of a coin over a little more speed or greater throwing distance, or neither and just focus on more accurate shots with the Assault Rifles.

One thing I don't understand is why more people don't use Monomania. IMO, this is one must have skill for team based modes. That way if I die, someone can pick off the guy that was gunning me. Or if I tossed a grenade and it hit a mess of guys everyone can pick em off before they get up.

BTW, you can actually slit people's throats with Blades Lv3? Heh, didn't know that, and I haven't seen anyone actually use it.

does anyone actually use the scanning skill? I've been trying to use it lately, I'm starting to think it's useless because of two reasons: the person i'm scanning is not linked to anyone, and, someone kills the person i just scanned. i think the SOP system needs a bit of tweaking for people to really take advantage of it

i got a question, how come in deathmatch, i can see the outline of some people even though i've never scanned or even killed that person?

I'm still hooked on single player, all i did on mgo was register my character and thats it. Oh and whats up with the whole "pay up" crap if you want three more slots?
Anyways, my konami game ID is still the same as before Ani_zeke.

Hopefully I'll play it soon to bring up my stats

I use blades 3 all the time to slit people's throats. It's highly convenient. Though now I'm using CQC3 + Rifles 1

I tried to make one yesterday mainly just to check how this was handle but you have to be lv3 and have more than 20h of playtime to create a clan, which I don't have >.>

Hmm, Im at level 3 and, as for playtime, I dont think I have 20h so far. Anyone to make one? I might try it on if Id get to the level.

Oh and, any info on the future of this game? I know what we got is the starter edition or whatever its called, when the game is to be 'launched' in full, will it be on a subscription basis? This is one of the few online games im willing to go through and subscribe, even if I hate 'shooting' online games :|

I'm at level 4...but I have no idea what my play time is :/...

I'll be home later tonight after work to see if I can crack out a clan (unless someone else does before I can get to it).

Currently using Rifle lvl2, CQC lvl1, and QB lvl3. I think I'm going to switch out CQC for Monomania, though. I'll probably learn to alternate certain support skills between free-for-all and team based games.

Im still at level 3 but I got beyond 20 hours. When you do get 20 hours, you get a message from the gamesmaster (or whoever) congratulating you for no longer being a newbie/rookie, and informs you that you can no longer join the beginner lobbies. I just got my blades + 2 I cant wait to get a higher level cqc though

Hey anyone notice how under your personal stats there's a Team Sneaking tab now? Haven't had a chance to actually play today, so I haven't tried out the mode yet, I wonder what it's like. This must have been apart of the emergency maintenance early yesterday.

Can't wait till an expansion is released, as I'm tired of playing the same 5 maps. Three of which I played to death in the Beta. Anyone else tired of playing TDM as well? Seems like it's the only game type people will host. Lame, I prefer Base over all other modes, though it's a shame that how people don't know how to play the mode properly (been times where I was the only one actually trying to capture bases).

Oh, and I'm game for a GFF clan. It'll at least help stop all these clan invites I keep getting from people I don't even recall playing with.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm terrible at shooters and thus I'm really bad at this game, but it's so much more fun. I really love it.

Anyway, my character is j.edmund. Add me and send me some mail and we can play.

What's up with games like this not utilizing the PSN? Am I the only one that finds this extremely stupid? I shouldn't have to get a bunch of names to add my PSN friends again in this game too.

I've still only touched the character registration since I'm going for the big boss emblem and thats taking most of my mgs time but if someone does create a clan with some matches planned out then count me in, although i'm still at the lowest level. I don't suppose theres a required level to join a clan as well.

team sneaking is actually pretty cool, it took me a few rounds to get it though. basically its rescue mission, so no respawning. one team has stealth camo and can only use the stun knife, mk 2 tranquilizer, and a bunch of non lethal support items aka magazine, stun grenades. the other team only has lethal items. the main objective is for the sneaking team to capture the frog or duck and the defending team to stop them, so it's like rescue mission except more interesting because of the stealth camo.

when a person on the sneaking team gets spotted, the stealth camo turns off for everyone on the team for a few seconds. the sneaking team is pretty much completely invisible except for their weapons and their shadows. it can be hard to spot them when theyre lying down and not moving.
