eleison - Days -a conclusion-: It definitely has a unique sound. It's a bit ethereal at times, but overall, it's a relaxing tune. It definitely piqued my interest, although I'm not sure if my attention can last the entire time. We'll see how the remainder of the songs play out.

FROM DUSK TILL DAWN - 500 miles far from embarrassing: The violin is really nice in this piece. I think it really helps the piece in the long run. The piano later on in the piece is also quite nice. Another surprise this week and much more engaging than Days -a conclusion- for sure.

Iridion 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Aniki: This one has a nice bubbly nature to it. It's got a nice flow and a pretty decent melody. The soundscapes are also nice.

Marusa no Onna - LOW TENSION~HI POSITION: This also has a nice, bubbly demeanor. It's quite catchy too. It reminds me a little of Breath of Fire III, which is always a plus. Piano = love.

Miracle Warriors Seal of the Dark Lord (Game Rip) - Overhead: Well, it's definitely got catchy going for it. After all these layered textures, the chiptune nature of this one was a surprise. It's not the best thing I've heard, but it's not that bad either. I like the various contrasting sections heard throughout.

Operation Logic Bomb (Game Rip) - Stage 4: Aww man. First disappointment of the week. I just didn't find this one at all impressive given the competition. It has some nice elements to it, such as the beat, but overall, it just seemed lackluster in comparison thus far.

REMASTERED TRACKS ROCKMAN ZERO Idea - Resistance Force: This isn't a bad piece, but at the same time, I'm also not digging this one. Fairly standard militaristic piece if you ask me, with a few hints of an electronica nature.

The Party 1998: Multi Channel Music - Kids: Oh, this has a nice little catchiness to it. It's got a nice beat, a pretty good melody, and it keeps my interest. Kinda jazzy at times too!

Overall, this week was pretty good. Lots to like and only two that really weren't my thing this week. Therefore, 6 point spread!

1 point: eleison - Days -a conclusion-
1 point: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN - 500 miles far from embarrassing
1 point: Iridion 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Aniki
1 point: Marusa no Onna - LOW TENSION~HI POSITION
1 point: Miracle Warriors Seal of the Dark Lord (Game Rip) - Overhead
1 point: The Party 1998: Multi Channel Music - Kids

The Party 1998: Multi Channel Music - Kids
Just wanted to point out that in the XM file info fields, the title is spelled as "Kids!". Also, the track is credited to "pink/abyss", which I understand Linzner's alias is Pink and he was part of the group Abyss (so I think using simply "Pink" in the artist ID3 tag should be sufficient). Minor details, but I tend to be meticulous about these.

While changes were made to the file I uploaded, I'm open to explanations why these elements were changed and could accept them if I can see the logic. Thanks!

I was speaking idiomatically.

I took that info from the list of entrants for that music competition on The Party's site, where the title just appears as "Kids." The list also gives "Pink of Abyss" as the artist, but I agree that the group isn't really necessary, so I changed it to just "Pink." Not really a big deal there.

Alright, that's cool. As long as it's not "Kid", "Ki", "K", or even "<insert blank here>", it pretty much refers to the same tune.

Overall, a pretty nifty week. A few tracks were somewhat lackluster but only because they were overshadowed by some great nominations. And two Manfred Linzner tracks in one week? How peculiar. But hey, both of them are great so I'm not going to complain.

3 Points: Iridion 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Aniki
1 Point: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN - 500 miles far from embarrassing
1 Point: The Party 1998: Multi Channel Music - Kids
1 Point: eleison - Days -a conclusion-

Nomination!!

Chudah's didn't specify particular track credits, as it was something I looked for. My copy suffers from poor, (or lack of) tagging. I'll edit accordingly. Thanks, Blah.

I really need to think up a nomination. But for now: votes.

eleison - Days -a conclusion- Interesting and more than a little experimental. Once you shear away the jump cuts, unusual SFX, and other gimmicks, though, there's not a whole lot of substance. And it goes on forever.

FROM DUSK TILL DAWN - 500 miles far from embarrassing I was really hoping that this would be a terrible song, so I could say something along the lines of "1 mile from embarrassing," or "within embarrassing city limits." Unfortunately, it's not that bad at all--quite nice violin/piano combination.

Iridion 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Aniki Sounds like a montage cut from a cheesy 1980's sports movie. Luckily, I happen to like montage cuts from cheesy 1980's sports movies, in general.

Marusa no Onna - LOW TENSION~HI POSITION Not bad, even though the track title reads like stereo instructions. Fine bouncyjazz all around.

Miracle Warriors Seal of the Dark Lord (Game Rip) - Overhead Not bad as chiptunes go, but it's missing the melodic and rhythmic hook that makes so many of its compatriots utterly irresistible.

Operation Logic Bomb (Game Rip) - Stage 4 There are a few interesting fragments here and there, but combined as they are, the whole is unfortunately pretty mundane and dry.

REMASTERED TRACKS ROCKMAN ZERO Idea - Resistance Force Doesn't sound anything like your garden variety latter-day Megaman track, though given that they generally suck that's not an especially bad thing. This militaristic style is quite an unexpected one considering the source, and it's pretty good if a little vanilla.

The Party 1998: Multi Channel Music - Kids Some nicely jazzy techno licks here. It bogs down a bit in the middle, but the beginning and end are dynamite. Just the right combination of elements, generally speaking, to get that techno sound without being repetitive or boring.

A fine week, all things considered.

The Point Spread
Kids - 2 pts.
500mi/embarrassing - 1 pt.
Aniki - 1 pt.
Low Tension - 1 pt.
Resistance Force - 1 pt.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I dunno how eligible this is since it's Hülsbeck but I wouldn't say the soundtrack was especially popular...

Album: Apidya Soundtrack
Composer: Chris Hülsbeck
Track Title: Sewer's Blast

I don't see any problems with this one, especially since we've had a nom from this soundtrack already. The Pond took first place in Week 40.

I knew I should've nominated Sand Triangle. :[

And yes this was an unfairly awesome week. Not enough points to go around!

2 pts: Days -a conclusion-
2 pts: 500 miles far from embarrassing
1 pt: Stage 4
1 pt: Resistance Force

Also sorry for doing this like every other week, but I've got another game up for eligibility questioning: Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin - yea or nay?

While I've been able to attribute points, the awesomeness of the selection this week made it hard to do.

(1 point) Iridion 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Aniki

My gut says "no," but that's more a reaction to the title of the series rather than the title of the album.

Also, nomination:
Album: Cold Winter Original Game Music Score
Composer: Mark Williot
Track Title: Fight in the Lobby
Track Number: 26
Year: 2005
Note: A track from this game was nominated a month ago, but crashed at 7th.

How ya doing, buddy?

The eleison track was certainly neat.

Assuming I still have time, I will try and fit in votes soon. I just got back from out of town five minutes ago. If it's too late though, just close it.

Editing: Wow, this week is amazing. I love all of you nominators.
