My matches with Kaleb and his friend earlier were pretty much lag free. They were pretty fun too. I hate it when Snake gets a final smash though and launches explosives all over the battle field. xD

When I tried playing with Acer and Jazz I lagged out of the game. And then with sousuke the match didn't even last before that one lagged to shit too. You know its bad when the 3 second countdown takes 10-20 seconds. I guess I need to keep a list of who I can play with lag free which kind of sucks because I like playing with everyone. I hope these lag issues get sorted out by Nintendo soon.

So, when I first got this game I was noticing fuzzy vertical bars in some places but didn't think too much of it. Now, I still see them and videos are having a tough time loading. The Wii's making noises I didn't notice before and finally one of the videos got so freezy that I eventually got an error. I've left the disc in there pretty much the whole time but I typically don't leave the Wii itself running nonstop; I usually unplug it.

Are these pretty much the sort of disc read problems I was hearing about a week ago?

How ya doing, buddy?

Josiah, It's not a disc read error YET, but it's probably turning into one. Sucks, but at least Nintendo has options for people like you.

I had problems with lag playing against Acer and IC, so I quit after two rounds. I don't think it was me because normal random matches work great. If you're playing on a college campus connection, it definitely has a high chance of lagging, so that was probably the issue. It's unfortunate 'cause I really would like to play you IC.

Just to confirm, doing a Team Multi Man Melee on wifi doesn't count towards breaking the challenge wall, right?

I did a 100-man melee with Snow the other day expecting to clear that particular challenge, but nothing ended up happening.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm going to try and get a usb lan adapter soon as that will probably help with the lag issues. Also, my bro sent this image to me (no idea who originally did it though).

Could be, but I would highly suggest turning off the console via the remote's Power Button and leaving it on the orange standby mode, rather then physically disconnecting power from the unit by unplugging the power cord every-time you want to turn off the console, that sort of action can cause data corruption and may be the cause of your other problems.

Still, might be some of those malfunctioning discs, I'd see about contacting Nintendo about it, since they will fix it absolutely free.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm really liking some of these clever snapshots you guys posted. Wolf's "moon bread", SnakeXZSS, and immp's Pikmin Parade are my favourite ones so far.

On that note, do you need to be Wii Friends too in order to send/receive pics to each other? I noticed I can only send snapshots to a small amount of people, most likely the ones who were registered as Wii friends with me already. I'd like to receive as much funny snapshots as I can get ^_^

Yeah, it seems that way. I get a notice from either you or Freelance Wolf on the Wii's dashboard whenever you guys send stages or snapshots.

I'm enjoying Wolf's Moon bread photo, too. I gotta try putting together a few shapshots =D

Well actually, just to be safe, I power it off to the orange standby mode first, and then unplug it, so hopefully that's not a factor in the issue. Now to dig around in this thread for the links for Nintendo support...

EDIT: Turns out I had the page @ Nintendo in my recent history, so I found it pretty quick after posting.

Hrm...am I the only one that thinks that if a dusty/dirty lens is the problem, that it could easily happen again over time?

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I'm sure something like this was asked before, but it would probably involve a lot of digging around. I'm pretty sure the answer's no, but would sending my Wii in for this repair result in losing the data that's on it? (I don't have one of those memory cards for it.) That'd really piss me off, considering all the work that I've put into Brawl thus far, not to mention other Wii games.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Try leaving your Wii on standby all the time and see if things improve. I've noticed that my Wii has always seemed to have a difficult time loading things and especially connecting to the internet if it's been turned all the way off. It's like the system has to warm up first, since things work fine after it's been on for a little while. So far my only issue with Brawl has been the Wii freezing up between the main channel page and trying to load the game with irritating frequency.

Two Random Ideas:

1. Brawl Clans. We fight for Brawl superiority on GFF.

2. Screenshot of the Week. <_<

Pretty self explanatory. Members submit their funniest screenshots, we vote on the best one.

And all I did today was play with friends in Brawl. Took them forever just to defeat Tabuu in the SSE... This is why I'm happy I ended up beating the game alone. Four fucking hours just to defeat the rest of the SSE from 40%.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

How will the Brawl clan idea work out exactly? Do we partner up in teams of two and play team brawl matches? If so, I guess I'm interested!

My idea on it:

They form on here, you make clans or whatever. I was thinking maybe four or something members.

Team Battle is definitely an option if the teams are 4 in total. Clans split themselves into teams of two and fight off against an opposing clan. Clans face off in a best of three match up. Team Attack must be on. Not sure if we should settle just for three matches, but we'll see what happens if this idea flourishes though.

As far as rankings go, I was thinking of a point system. 3 points for a clan win, 1 point for a clan loss.

Like any sport, after clans have faced off once or twice during the season, we have a post season tournament, and we see which clan reigns supreme. If we have more than eight clans, the top eight teams move on to the post season.

For 1v1 matches, I haven't thought of anything for this... So I'll see how this plans out.

I still haven't thought this whole idea fully through, so ideas on how to run this would be greatly appreciated it. It would be cool so we could get some competitive matches going here.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

...
How are clans assigned? Would they be determined randomly or would everybody be able to pick who they band together with?

Also, the 1v1 seems more feasible than the 2v2. Don't get me wrong, I'd love Team Battles if they'll work out. I enjoyed the 2v2 with Freelance and naz earlier today, but I'm worried about Nintendo Wi-Fi disconnects and super lag.

In any case, I'd be down with a clan hullabaloo.

These sound like fun, but yeah 4 people in one match = too much lag which results in inaccurate results... but I guess we need to be skilled enough to work with the lag. I wanna make a Team Star Fox clan. I never see anyone use Falco though.

You're telling me! Game and Watch wouldn't even have a neat clan grouping unless you stick him with Dedede, Wario and Kirby for clan -gluttony-
I'd love to be the Zelda of a Zelda/Sheik/Link/Ganondorf quartet, although now that I think about it, I'm probably more interested in the thematic aspect of clans rather than the competitive side :3

Yes as someone has said but it's going to be a pain to add everybody who also have Brawl. So either use bin2jpg or share the actual .bin file on the forum.

From what Nintendo stated and what I heard from other people, you will NOT lose any of your savegame data, VC and WiiWare/Internet Channel. In some case your savegame will still be in the Wii while you have to redownload all your VC and WiiWare software that you bought at no charge.

...and I like the screenshot of the week. XD

Easier to just band together than implement some sort of draft.

Firstly, if we do 1v1 matches, then we'll do teams of 5, just so if two players on each side both nab a win, the final person can determine the tie-break. For each clan battle, match-ups will be random just to be fair.

Each week, clans will be assigned against another clan. You have the whole week to finish your match against whoever you're assigned to. The 1v1 matches with each person will be a best of 3 match. Winner of the 1v1 matches will add one point to your team's total. The best you could get each week would a total of 5 points. The point in overall rankings would mean nothing though, they just chock one up for you in the win column.

After the season is finished, we'll run another set of matches based on which seed you are done in single elimination bracket tournament. Winning clans advance and we find out who the #1 clan is during the season.

For the matches themselves (feel free to disagree so we can come up with a general consensus for the matches):

4 stock, 8 minute matches, no items (final smashes off). [Yes, I'm going MLG format here. The 8 minutes is just so matches don't drag out longer than they should.]

We'll take a poll on which stages could be used in the tournament also, just to be fair on that also.

Additional Spam:
These sound like fun, but yeah 4 people in one match = too much lag which results in inaccurate results... but I guess we need to be skilled enough to work with the lag. I wanna make a Team Star Fox clan. I never see anyone use Falco though.
I'd join that. I use all three Star Fox characters and Ike.

AND TEAM LOGOS FOR THE WIN. REPPIN' IN TEH SIGGEH.

And in forming clans, for the sake of everyone, don't be character restrictive with them, otherwise, you'll be too predictable come battle time. It would suck being part of Team Star Fox and not being able to use Ike.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Today's Smash Update is about the various bosses of SSE, and tips on how to beat them.

Although if you want a full strategy, you should apparently buy the guide (which also spells Mario as Maria).

Snapshots of the Week sound fun.

Dunno about the Clan thing, sounds good but I have a feeling Nintendo's online will generate insane lag in the end if it is anything other than 1vs1 (and even then that could be laggy depending on the people).

I also think there should be like a round robin type thing with everyone who'd want to participate so that the top X players could automatically be deemed "Clan Captains" so that it isn't horribly unbalanced.
