Well you were right Slash, they used the Wiimote/nunchuck. (I'm actually surprised I'll be the first to report on the tournament here.)

Complete joke. The vast majority of the matches had people just fumbling around with the controls, i.e. simply falling off and not being able to get back on. So a lot of wins were due to that and not being able to compensate within a minute's time. Nothing was unlocked, so the staff constantly had to deal with the nagging "NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHING" after almost every fight.

Most annoying of all, I lost the second time around....to the ****ing shock mouse. Now, it wasn't so much that as the fact that, in addition, the guy was being a dick about it, like "Lol u got owned by Pikachu" gloating to other people "Pikachu owns". He even went so far to say that he was going to duct-tape the trophy to the hood of his car after he won. Even though the trophy wasn't that big, we all know he'd be trying to compensate for something anyway. Well, I'm actually not sure where the guy went, but I do know he didn't win. I wanted to rub it right back in his face, but oh well. I didn't get to find out just how his defeat came about because the staff thrust us losers out into the cold wind, rather than let us stay and watch. (Yeah, this Gamestop's not within a mall, it's on a strip mall.)

On another note, a different dude was trash-talking to some little kid, practically yelling "You gonna get owned!!" as Sudden Death began (I saw a lot of those ), and then the little kid was the one that got the hit in. Best poetic justice I've seen in a while.

Anyway, needless to say it was a perfect night to be cold and really breezy. However, the line wasn't too huge here and there were plenty of copies for everyone. I was lucky enough to have a warm car to wait in until just before midnight.

As for the game itself? Well, I am having fun with it. I did try an online brawl but even though it was after release, I had the same issue as Miles, waiting for 5 minutes or so before just giving up. I've been doing mostly SSE, but I admit it wasn't quite what I was hoping it would be.

Spoiler:
I thought you would pick a character at the beginning and you'd get to see the plot from that character's perspective pretty much the whole time. Instead it starts out all the same and the perspective changes depending on how you go through it, though that's still okay too.

I will say it's a lot longer than I thought it was going to be. I played it for around two hours and I don't think I'm even at 30%.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I've been hearing horror stories all over the internet about people whose Wiis are having trouble reading the game disc.

Please don't happen to me.

I'm so scared right now.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Right here, sir.

I'm going to go get a can of compressed air to see if that fixes it - if not, I guess it's time to ship the Wii out to Nintendo.

Funny, I kinda had a feeling something like that could happen. A similar thing happened with Sonic Adventure when the Sega Dreamcast was first released. I had one of those faulty discs, but I was able to get around it most of the time.

With Brawl, so far I think I'm lucky. I had to do a Wii system update but other than that I think the game's running fine for me.

Good point. Surely if one game does not work, the console is broken. I'll assume its been sitting on the shelf for a while and collected dust. Did you, ya know, try a different disc?

Make sure to post your experiences with online. I'm really interested in seeing how well it works.
Alright then. I finally did my first random match online with Fox. Because of my crappy connection all the way in the attic, it was slightly laggy, but that's understandable for one bar worth of a connection.

So I managed to just face one person online with two computers. We ended up going on Smashville. Was a pretty blah battle since I actually thought I was gonna lose against Meta Knight (the other dude online), Zelda (CPU), and Dedede (CPU).

Then the Smash Ball appears. We're all rushing towards it, and I manage to break it with a Reflector. At that point, everything just falls into my favor. Managed to shoot everyone out and get a couple of aerial kills.

Overall, I won the match +4.

Pretty good stuff online. I'm sure that I'll be facing people online just to kill time. Lucky me I practiced with timed battles in Melee for a while. Final Smashes do make the difference though.

My computer isn't near my Wii, so I can't tell you my Friend Code off the top of my head, so I'll give it to you guys later.

Additional Spam:

Probably because they refuse to update their system. I had to update before I played the game. <_<

No, it's REQUIRE to update in order to play. You can't even start the game without passing the update screen.

Here's my FC

EDIT:
Er, I've seen other people posting their FC on the Wii Friend Codes post too. Perhaps it would be easier to post FC in the wiki page from now on?

Even though I'm heading out to vacation in a few days, I can be found (at least until Wed) at:

Name: Rob
Code: 2793-0272-5749

I'll be bringing my copy of Smash along though, so I may update this later. But add anyway, I'd like to try it out while I'm still at home. I've added all the names I've seen so far.

They had this problem in Japan. This is the first dual-layer Wii game, and so the lens is sometimes unable to read it due to dust or cigarette smoke.

Ok, I added everyone's Brawl FC I saw in this thread and the Wii Friend Codes thread into gfwiki. It's over here~
Also, I will add that same list of players to my Brawl list. You should see a PM from me fairly soon *is gonna play more Brawl in a few minutes :3*

My initial thoughts on the game?
I only got to play in a bunch of stadium modes, event mode and the Emissary stuff. Awesome, AWESOME game! I wanted to stay up all night to see what I could unlock (it was 1am when I got started) but standing in line like a fool got its toll on me. So I only managed to unlock Marth, a huge amount of trophies and stickers ._.
I can't find anything wrong with the game either. The game is on a dual-layered disc so I was expecting slightly longer loading times as well.

Oh and the Pokémon Trainer is fun as hell to use =D

I just finished Subspace Emissary on hard. I can see how some of the reviews complain it gets repetitive though for myself I never really got bored of it. There's enough mixture of platforming and fighting to the point where you won't just sit there and smash attack buttons over again. And jesus christ there is no way ANYONE can beat that last boss their first try. I dunno if he would be any easier on easy or normal but hard it took a few tries to beat it and even then it still came pretty close. There's like little no room for error during that fight.

Additional Spam:
By the way, the only two characters left for me to unlock are toon link and jigglypuff. Super Smash Bros. Brawl Cheats - Super Smash Bros. Brawl Codes - Super Smash Bros. Brawl Secrets is not accurate at all so I'm wondering if anyone knows the proper way to unlock them without having to spam VS. battles.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm only playing it on Normal. ;_;

But I just got Game and Watch through the SSE. Great fun so far, I haven't really gotten bored of it either.

I do get what the reviews say about the linearity thing though... You go from one section... To another... To another... Without knowing where the hell these people went before.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I tried my hand at a online game with anyone...no one showed up for quite a few minutes. I find that hard to believe right now >_> I do also believe that Wifi has quite a surge right now, hopefully will right itself eventually.

By the way, I didn't know that the homerun contest platform now has shields on the platform...if you watch the preloaded replay with your copy, you'll see that basically the homerun contest has turned into whoever can throw the bat the best. (Unless I'm mistaken about this in some respect...I still have plenty of things to learn about the game.)

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
