music editing program
Is there a program that can separate tracks to a music file? (or silence a track)
My situation is to take a song, take out the vocals and guitar and replace it with my own. Possible? Additional Spam: anyone? Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yogen Vocal Remover
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Quick answer: No, that's not possible.
Audio files like mp3s and wavs only have two 'tracks'. One for the left and one for the right. All the instruments and vocals are meshed together. Some programs can lower the volume of the vocals by targeting the frequency range of most singers, but this doesn't work 100% and lowers the volume of any instruments within that same range. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Well the easiest way to do this is go to the studio and beg and beg and beg, after they say, no we don't have it go home and cry.
In otherwords you can't. Check this out and it might give you help Boot Camp - Mashing for Beginners I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |

if it is a quality recording (even better if its a dolby surround mix), you can use dolby prologic to split the stereo waveform into its individual components (centre, left, right, rear left, rear right, sub), and delete the centre channel....
I was speaking idiomatically. |
