I have not really lost a remote. Been misplaced a few times, but found it fairly quickly.

However, one amusing situation was this past summer. I had just come back tovisit my family after two years. Since that time, they got a whole bunch of new stuff, and things had changed such that there were THREE remote controls on the table, each with at least TWENTY FIVE BUTTONS. My rents were like "you can do this, and this and this and this" while I, sleep deprived for over 40 hours, and jet lagged, was like, 'All I want to do is change the channel'.

I can only imagine the complication of all those buttons if you had to get up and perform those tasks manually on the television set (or cable box too I guess)...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

luckily I have three universal-remotes in my room

Often I cant find all three at once but ... who cares ?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Daily basis, but 99% of the time is behind or on one of the sides or under the bed.

Sometimes my remote falls on the floor and I don't notice until I'm standing. Other times my remote is on the edge of my bed....which would explain it falling

I was speaking idiomatically.

More than once I've taken a drink out of the fridge and replaced the empty space with the remote that I have in my hand. Some things like eating become so repetitious and habitual that you just forget what the hell you're doing.

Also, I once found the remote in my hand. No joke.

Doesn't happen that often for me and as much as Capo has a point, I'd like to see a TV that has all the functions of an average TV remote that came with it these days. Screw losing the remote yourself other people losing the remote is way more annoying; or in my case them breaking the remote and you having to fix it from the amount of times it's been knocked on the floor >.>

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I broke mines in half a long long time ago, more like ages ago. I just get up to switch the channel now, I only flips through like three channels anyways.
I did get a universal remote but that bitch decided to act like a princess and stopped listening to my commands.
Although I find it very funny that a lot of people put a lot more work into finding the remote than switching the channel from the tv especially when your going to keep it on the same channel for hours on end.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

One of my friends gave me this for Christmas as a joke present. She said she got it from Brookstone (one of those weird gadget stores I think). I doubt I'll be losing this one often.

Most times the remote ends up lost between the bed and the wall but one time it wasn't anywhere in my room so I started checking the unconventional places. I ended up searching my laundry basket and found it hidden in a blanket that was on my bed. It almost got washed.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Reminds me of a George Carlin joke, where he talks about a big pile of stuff you see when you die that you lost when you were alive.

I've had remotes virtually vanish in the past, and I've never found them anywhere. It's not much of a problem now, as my TV/DVD at home has two remotes, which are at any time somewhere between my bed and entertainment center.

At school, this really isn't an issue, as I don't have a TV.
