However, Bioshock was definitely deserving of GOTY regardless. Do not agree with it for Best Score though. There wasn't anything great outside outside of the game to listen to, but yeah it kicked ass in game. Oh and Mass Effect from what I played is also deserving for the RPG win. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Mass Effect was the least deserving or one of the least deserving of the RPGs nominated. Why do we talk about these award shows anyway? They cater to people that, well, aren't really gamers.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Well its like the question, why are we even on Gamingforce chatting?
Additional Spam: So which should have won? Eternal Sonata Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 least deserving out of those? wow This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

...no, it's not like that at all.
Mass Effect is certainly not deserving of the title, but considering the people watching the show probably haven't played anything else in the genre all year, it's pretty much the only thing that could win. Colour me surprised that DiRT won for racing, though. Not complaining, as it's certainly a pleasant surprise. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
"Yeah, so, the drunken frat crowd wins again." "I don't like these winners. That I had no way, shape or form in nominating, voting for or deciding against." That's about it.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Best score should go to Mario Galaxy. *sigh*
How ya doing, buddy? |

I never watched any Spike TV awards before this. But have any jRPG ever won best RPG or at least been considered?
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

Hard to say if they've ever been considered, but they have been nominated from time to time. Like in this one, where every game other than the winner originated from Japan.

Bioshock hands down was gonna get GOTY anyway. So it's not the least surprising to me in that category.

My favorite part was where they were like OK guys let's have a recap of the awards then they named a bunch of games for awards they never fucking mentioned
THIS POST WAS FUELED BY GAME FUEL FROM MOUNTAIN DEW FUEL THE HALO GUY INSIDE YOU What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Wait wait wait. Best multiplayer game is not Orange Box (TF2) of 07?
That should tell you something about these awards and their integrity. Shame on them for not mentioning Odin Sphere, and including Twilight Princess (not 2007). I guess it's to be expected that Persona 3 wouldn't win over something as hyped as Mass Effect, even though it did get really high praise. The game is now out of print. :moreyouknow:

The VGAs have always been a massive joke anyway. As mentioned before it's all a huge popularity contest. Most addictive game Halo 3. Are you fucking serious. Warcrack is still the biggest addictive game. (OH WAIT~ It was sponsered by GAME FUEL. O okay. Makes sense. lulz)
Anyways, yeah. I caught the last hour of it when I awoke due to it being so fucking hot. Only part I enjoyed was the Video Games Live montage I heard with Frogger, Pong, etc. Best sports game. Madden. Laffo. I guess its mandatory for Madden to win some kind of award each year. Call me when Madden gets to be as good as ESPN NFL 2K5 was. Overall a huge disappointment this year, although Little Big Planet looked cool as hell and whatever that one game was, [Prototype]? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Of course they're a joke. Because all they do is choose from the "BlockBuster" games. Games like Persona 3, Growlancer, etc will never be up for VGAs and therefore they're not really choosing from everything. Instead they're choosing from their own biased little pool of crap.
When the GOTY nominees are the same as their Xbox 360 GOTY nominees, wonder who's funding them? What a BAAAAD joke... Also wonder if the Mountain Dew & Halo 3 marketing campaign is what decided that win... laughable... Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Considering we just had a huge row about review sites basing their scores on how much advertising money they were given, did anybody think there was even the remotest chance of something obscure making the list?
Hell, for that matter, is there anything on that list besides Mario and Zelda that's NOT a western-made game? I think it's pretty obvious who's paying the bills here, and it's not Atlus. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
Disclaimer: BioShock is a fantastic game.
Now, games I have played that released this year which I got more playtime and overall enjoyment out of than BioShock: The Orange Box Super Mario Galaxy Crackdown (Why did this get zero nominations, let alone awards. Let's just forget about everything that came out before August.) Halo 3 Rock Band This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Only thing I liked about the awards was the orchestra playing video game music. >_>

Pac-Man Championship Edition was robbed. It's hard for me to get upset about this when it's basically thrown together by corporate to promote/pat themselves on the back. I read Aquaria was voted best of show at some independent game development convention, mayhap we should start seeking out things that actually have credibility?
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |

How the heck did, in an incredibly biased and advertising dollar driven set of awards, Dirt beat out Forza 2 for best driving game? Microsoft must have used up their budget making sure that Bioshock and Halo 3 got a bunch of awards, and that Halo 3 had an award created for itself.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall. |
And well, as someone said... this Awards are not even good for a joke. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
