Lost your Remote?

Well so have I!

How often do you people lose the remote? Where(in the couch, in another room, in the dog's mouth?)It can be really frustrating at times. I'm in the middle of searching for mine right now.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You could just get up and change the channel, you know.

I agree with Capo.

Then you could look at every unconventional place you could think of, and that includes the bathroom. If anything, just go buy one.

But there are channels with three digits in them! Three!

I probably lose my remote about twice a week. With my TV being in my bedroom, I usually have the remote on my bed, and since it's almost never actually made up, I usually end up losing it in the covers. I get angry while searching for it, but it usually only takes about ten seconds or so to actually find it.

I rarely misplace my tv remote, but I have a tendency to search for the stereo remote a lot. It happens to have certain buttons on it that aren't on the stereo itself, so it's indispensible in certain situations, plus my stereo is hard to access (except for the cd tray) so that can be frustrating.

I usually have to look for it every time I need it (which thankfully isn't that often), and it's usually not very far off, just somewhere random in the living room, nowhere near the stereo.

I usually don't have too much trouble finding my remote because a lot of times it usually ends up under the bed.

Back in my house on the other hand is a completely different story. i have a bad habit of always having a remote in my hands whenever I have to walk anywhere around the house, and usually I end up laying it down somewhere and I don't remember where I had layed it down. I usually end up wasting about half an hour trying to retrace my steps but all in all I end up finding it even though it can be a bit of a headache sometimes.

Luckily, I have a place that I keep my remotes after I turn off the TV. I actually have three remotes that I use regularly, so sometimes I may lose the third one from my DVD player. Otherwise, I probably lose a remote once every few months or so.

Why in the world has nobody invented a paging device for remotes, like most cordless phones have built-in? Seriously. Just something small enough to slip into the battery compartment or something, then you keep the paging base by the TV. Push button, remote goes beep.

That said, I tend not to lose my remote, but other people lose it for me. Grr.

It's usually found somewhere on the path from the couch to the kitchen or bathroom.

You can always rig one up yourself using one of those key ring pagers that beep when you whistle. The trick is finding one small enough that you can tape it to the underside of the remote without it being too intrusive. Or if it can fit in the battery slot, all the better! This also removes the need for a separate paging device.

I lose my remote every so often. It's the same fate that happens to just about anything that's not nailed down or tethered to anything else. Sooner or later you've got to go on the "quest" to find it, and your reward is the dust-bunny sopped apparatus, and you just *hope* the batteries still work.

Heh, that reminds me of the device my mom used to have on her keys. It was supposed to beep whenever you clapped. Sometimes it worked, but more often than not it would go off in the car, in church, etc. At least it was good for a laugh.

I used to lose my remote all the time, but several things have changed since college. First, my TVs (living room and bedroom) are no longer the same brand and the remotes aren't interchangable, so the remotes stay in the correct room. Second, I have a cover on my couch (to make cleaning cat hair easier), so the remote can't fall down behind the cushions anymore. It's usually easy to find the remote, because it's either on the couch, on the TV stand, or on the computer table next to the TV.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It doesn't matter so much if I lose the remote for my VCR because all the buttons I'll ever need are on it. But my DVD player only has 5 buttons. Of those 5 buttons, there isn't setting subtitles and no buttons for navigating the menus. Thus I always get frustrated when I can't find THAT remote in particular. Usually it's in the weirdest of places too. I tend to carry things around without realizing it. One time I found it in the fridge :sheepish:. As for the tv remote, it doesn't have one. It's a 20 year old tv with just those turn knobs to change the channel. =P I'm old school.

Remote being lost? Hasn't happened in many months. Talk about lucky, especially with two renters.

Course, they really need the remotes because my HTPC setup would be useless without them

Frequently.

Well, I don't lose it. Other members of the family do, hence why I can't find it when I want to go watch TV. And normally it's not so much that it's lost, just that I can't see it. Like when I use the TV downstairs and can't find the remote because it's on the computer desk behind me.

This totally reminds me of a joke I read on office-humor.co.uk the other day...

Spoiler:
One night, after the couple had retired for the night, the woman became aware that her husband was touching her in a most unusual manner.

He started by running his hand across her shoulders and the small of her back. He ran his hand over her breasts, touching them very lightly. Then, he proceeded to run his hand gently down her side, sliding his hand over her stomach, and then down the other side to a point below her waist. He continued on, gently feeling her hips, first one side and the other. His hand ran further down the outside of her thighs. His gentle probing then started up the inside of her left thigh, stopped and the returned to do the same to her right thigh.

By this time the woman was becoming aroused and she squirmed a little to better position herself. The man stopped abruptly and rolled over to his side of the bed.

Why are you stopping darling?" she whispered.

He whispered back, " I found the remote."

(I don't watch much tv, and the remote is always on the couch, so I'm afraid this isn't really a big life crisis for me.)

I tend to lose the remote in one place only, in my bed. It gets lost there maybe once or twice every other week or so. Because the TV's so close to my bed, I tend to lay the remote down in my bed rather than next to the TV, like I usually do.

I can't stand it when I lose a remote, so I have a little rule now since I moved in my new house, always leave the remove by the DVD player when you are done, my feance always tends to leave in on the couch or in the kitchen somewhere though.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

We never lose remotes here in the house because we're just not that careless with them. My uncle, on the other hand, always complained that he was losing the remote and one day when my cousin and I were out at some 99 cent store I found the Holy Grail of all careless remote users: THE JUMBO UNIVERSAL REMOTE

He hasn't been able to lose it yet~

Most of my remotes are always in close proximity to the TV. Most of them just lay around, but I put one of those velcro strap thingies on one of them to keep it by its TV. Another remote gets misplaced pretty often, but a routine sweep through the couches, side tables/stands, and the kitchen will get it; but while it's missing, all hell could possibly break loose.

To be fair, a remote is a pretty large thing to lose anyway. Something about losing it just screams 'STUPID' really. Similar to losing your phone, but everyday and in a place you know better than your pocket.

I have four remotes and they stay on the couch. Where else would you even take them.

Hold up, let me take my Blu-ray remote into the bathroom while I take a dump.

There are more things that can be missing apart from remote,,,,books, wallet,,cellphone and my favourite "keys",,,In the future, they should create a technology that find the items that we lost in the house instead of creating more robots and flying cars,,,,

I usually lose mine down the side of my bed somewhere. Or I put it somewhere in my room and totally forget where I've put it. The other times it just sits next to my lamp.

My HDTV has tiny buttons on the side to change channels with, so getting up to change it is pretty annoying.
