Can't Access "E-mails/Logins" Site

Heya,

My brother just re-formatted his computer (media center win xp) and for some reason he cannot access any sites that require a "login"

Yahoo, Gmail, School E-mails, Messengers etc - the websites always can never be found... on my other two computers it can

I'm guessing it has to do with security of the computer or something.. but I did turn of windows firewall - not sure what else to do

How ya doing, buddy?

^By Auro from the FFXII board... Thanks ^^

Check cookies settings in any browser he's using.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

stupid question - how do I unblock it or check for it?

Both IE and Mozilla Firefox have the same problem... which is why I'm kinda thinking oO because I never even changed any settings and the fact that both are like it... anywayz when I get home I'll play around with both browsers and see if I can figure out where it is

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

for Firefox:

tools-----options

I was speaking idiomatically.

Some firewall software can block cookies as well. I know you turned off Windows Firewall but if there's any other internet security packages on there, that could certainly do it. If you're not using anything like that, then I have no idea what could be causing it. What kind of hardware does he use to connect to the internet? Wi-Fi?

Well we had Cable Internet... now we're using DSL (not sure if that answers your question) but in both situations we wouldn't access e-mail accounts/accounts that require login

It's weird 'cause Windows Firewall = off... and we have no other software installed either >....<

I know that some routers have configurable security settings, but it's unlikely they would be on unless someone knew what they were doing.

Are there any other computers in the house? Really at this point it's starting to sound inexplicable, and your best bet is to try another computer on the same connection to see if you can access those sites then.

If yes, then the problem is with your installation, if no... your connection.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
