One more reason to dislike Lukage. :tallymark:
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Super Mario Galaxy, more like Godlike Mario Galaxy. I love this game so much. Battlestarman Galactica is the first Wii game I've been absolutely addicted to since Elebits, and it's similar gameplay as far as the... star... bits... oh. But yeah, that's about it. Just expressing my awe and reverence of this divinely awesome game. Mii likey. Mii likey a lot.
<3 What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
And here I was about to use my card on Mario Party DS when it came out. How ya doing, buddy? |
I just played it for a little while, long enough to grab the first three stars off the Good Egg Galaxy. Tell me, do I just really suck or were the controls just a little weird to get used to at first? Game isn't exactly HARD but I nearly had a game over from falling off too much into a black hole (couldn't move the way I wanted to) and I got hit tons of times from missing when I tried to jump on enemies. I guess I can just blame it on me being out of practice with games, but...
![]() But yeah, awesome atmosphere. Shooting through those launch stars is like freeeeeowwwwwwwwwwwww. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Saka, it sure does take some getting used to. The controls I mean, especially when you're on a small sphere walking around and you could flip the controls easily. But after playing for two days and a mild headache, I got the controls down.
I got like close to 40 stars now and loving every bit of it. I'm excited about finding hidden/green stars. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
If you guys haven't, I'd recommend trying out two-player. The experience is oddly satisfying.
You can also piss off player one by making him jump when he's not expecting it. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
How do you make player one jump when you're player two? =o
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Just highlight Mario with the cursor and hit A once to make him jump and again to spin.
Normally player two's cursor just collects star bits. However, when they press/hold A, they can interact with the environment in a much more direct way. Stunning enemies, flinging those green glob things, shaking bushes and flowers to make coins and more star bits appear, and stopping boulders and stuff. That might be common info, I dunno. For the first half-hour, all I did was just collect star bits without pressing anything. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I haven't even been able to play in co-op mode yet.
Translation: I have no friends. ![]() How ya doing, buddy? |
One of my roommates is usually around to pick up a second Wiimote and join in. While it's annoying as hell when they try to make me jump off ledges, it's extremely helpful since the second pointer can stun enemies and collect start bits.

It's official: Super Mario Galaxy is now the 2nd best game of all time, and the reviews are STILL coming in... (at 100% each, of course)
FELIPE NO |
Gotta say I really like the character of Rosalina. She's pretty awesome. The storybook thing is a pretty cool little bonus to the game.
![]() What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
<@a_lurker> I like zeal better than guru.
<@a_lurker> There, I said it, I'm not taking it back. |
How ya doing, buddy? |
And Ence Tekken 3 is up there cos you know, everything get's reviewed agaisnt the games of it's time. Tekken was pretty sweet and unbeatbable back in the day. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Wow, the story book is kind of depressing.
Finished the game last night. It's an interesting ending. I wish the final boss wasn't as easy. I was really hoping for a OH HO YOU THOUGHT I WAS A GONER BUT NOPE HERE COMES THE REAL FINAL BATTLE. I thought I almost got it too as the cut scenes rolled along but nope. I guess I just wished the game was a bit tougher here and there. I'm not a huge fan of the 3 hits health bar because I do tend to make stupid mistakes and coins aren't as readily available as 64 and Sunshine. And really when you've been screwing up due to being upside down you're less likely to risk jumping and squashing an enemy and keep hearing that irritating low health beeping. It's kind of odd how I feel about this game. It's a lot of fun but it doesn't have the same HUGE playground feeling that 64 and Sunshine had. A few stages do but most stages reflect an older Super Mario Bros. feeling of get to the end you probably won't really be coming back here again on your own volition it's been a great ride, fella. I love Luigi. He has way more personality than Mario because of his personal demons. They really worked him well into the game and I'm sure it's going to be fun playing as him. Everyone should definitely get this game. However, I must say that Nintendo better get another Mario platformer game out within this generation. I get a feeling that once I've played the heck out of this game I'll be wanting more. I felt like that after Sunshine. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yeah, I'm not so big on the three-hit health bar either, given that I tend to completely fail at jumping on enemies. Then teh constant beeping when I'm at 1 health gets annoying...
I die way too much at the stupidest crap. I swear I lost about 8 lives doing the ray surfing stage. If it weren't for the 1-up in the middle of the stage, all would have been lost. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
If you thought that ray surfing stage was annoying, wait till you get to the slingshot one. I think I lost about 10-15 lives there. There's so much things that I've done so far that I totally got sidetracked from the main game (aka doing the comet challenges and going to those optional galaxies). By the time I finished the fountain dome, when the kitchen dome opened up I already had enough stars to go straight to the enemy base. >_< I was speaking idiomatically.

Speaking of comet challenges, is that the only way to complete a galaxy? I've got the three stars on the galaxies I've opened up so far (Terrace and fountain) but only the galaxy that I did a speed run on (junk galaxy) is marked as completed, with 4 stars. Seems kind of weird to have to rely on a random event to complete a galaxy, unless you just pay 15 bits every time to move it to where you want it to go...
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Well, I'm going to assume it makes these little random comets and basically it's your job to follow them. It will position the comets where you haven't gotten a comet star until there are no more new stars to get. It may be random per say but if you're waiting on a comet to get to a specific stage because you just HAVE to have a complete Kitchen before you move on to the Engine Room then you're just wasting your time.
Additional Spam: Okay whoever came up with the Ghostly Galaxy Purple Coin stage needs to burn in hell. It's those fucking blue pull stars and mines a time limit of one minute. Fucking impossible. ![]() FELIPE NO |
![]() It's on first place now on game rankings!! I definitely need to get myself a Wii now >_< But I don't have the money ;_; What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
LOL. SD said I had a "James Bond" moment at the final boss battle. I typically messed up a lot and that 3 health bar is more than plenty. It'd teach me more to keep my controls in control. But at the final boss battle, I already know what to do since I fought him in similar fashion before and therefore I had became a "James Bond" in fighting him.
![]() And... I had no trouble getting this far, but I do hate the spooky race. :\ Damn meats. And the trial ray race often end early for me and when I was doing so well, I finished it when I wasn't expecting it. Really now... 3 minutes? o.O' I finished on something like 1'18. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
How odd, I had no issues with the ray racing. I thought I would too but I found it to be quite intuitive. Sling shot I had no real issue with beyond one or two deaths until I decided to play it safe and try more precision. The cannon got me confused the first time because I thought it would be like 64's cannon where it arcs so you can't aim straight. Mario goes flying off to die because I aim above the target and then the whole world laughs at me.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
The problem with ray surfing is not the controls, but the friggin' waves. I'd try to take a corner and then WHUMP, big wave sends me into the air and the ray and Mario get sucked off into the abyss.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
Hey guys, I'm planning to get that Wii next week and Galaxy is going to be one of the Auto-purchases, so I'll be poping in here for my impressions =D Game looks absolutely FUN from the preview videos I've seen.
