Who are we supposed to go to if we don't get our commemorative coin? Cuz I totally didn't get one either even though I pre-ordered. And I hope the reason isn't limited stock because the fucking Gamestop employees leeched the ones meant for pre-orders. I know they do pull that shit sometimes.

They tried to do that shit to me when I pre-ordered Dracula X Chronicles . I ended up walking through the "employees only" door and caught a few shipment boxes that had 5 simon belmont figurines. Grabbed one and punched that skinny motherfucker a goodbye =]. You gotta be like that with these leeches man especially the skinny nerds (no offense to those around here) who look suspicious o.o.

As for the coin.. I grabbed mine at target thanks to a friend. Who knew they were taking pre-orders. Target of all places.. At least they hold the coins for those who reserved it (5 out of 10 coins)

Jimmy told me that he thought its possible that they didn't just simply get the shipment of the coins. I really dunno... those who were in line that afternoon (obviously GS told them that they'll get Mario that afternoon) didn't get one. I'd definitely noticed. Sigh... who knew buying games would just make me all materialistic for some little fucking trinket (I'm looking at the damn wright plushie).

On a positive note, I kinda found out (more like I didn't care) that there's a two player option. It'll be so awesome so I'm awaiting on Jimmy to come home from work to play. He's excited about this game too. Although this game is purely mine in purchase-wise, so I got dibs on playing this through and through.

How ya doing, buddy?

Those Simon figures are so cool! I saw one at a GameStop just sitting behind the counter. Asked the clerk if it was for sale... nothin' doin'.

Did you ask for one when you got your order? If they really ran out, try going back with the receipt and tell them you're presently coinless and see what response they give you. I'd imagine Nintendo has a service number for this sort of thing if it's a major problem and the shortage is happening at several stores; maybe they can give it to you.

I have to say that this game is awesome! Buy yours at Toys R Us, folks. You get a $25 gift card with purchase. Better than some fucking coin!

Unfortunately for me, the game doesn't come out until tomorrow. I was kind of mad until I heard the message gamestop left on my answering machine. It was the guy who plays Mario's voice. Mario actually left a message on my answering machine. Me and my sister were laughing hysterically at the message. It was defintely the peak of my day. After I heard the message I was not so angry that I still have to wait another day.

Did anyone else receive the Mario message?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I got the game. Have to wait till I get off work to play it though. However I noticed that every other game today was pushed back till Thursday or at least for Canada... WTF?

Assassin's Creed
Kane & Lynch
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
SvsRAW '08 (but the Wii one still released today)

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It's at 97.4%... two more 100% reviews and it'll most likely pass Ocarina of Time...

Your gamestops sound stupid. Mine was giving it out with the game without you even having to ask. And they said they had one for every single pre-order.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Just got back from the TRU at Winchester/San Jose, what a joke.

Called this morning arund 10:30 to ask if they had it in stock, the lady who picked up said no. I was like, well, okay. Had class in the afternoon so I called again when I got out around 4 PM. Guy who picked up said the shipment hadn't come yet, but "DHL is swearing up and down they'll get it here around 5." So I say okay, and drive on down. Get there at 4:30 and wait... and wait... the associates there are telling people that "we can't confirm the shipment is coming until we see the truck." What the heck is that? And apparently they DID receive a shipment earlier of 30 (though there were 85 preorders) and they all sold out. TRU swears they'll have it in by tomorrow, but I dunno about that. The only nice thing is they apparently will honor the GC deal if you preordered regardless of when you actually pick the game up.

Word on the INTERNET is that TRU is seriously letting people down all over (and especially in California). No wonder nobody really shops at TRU for games.

To anyone who hasn't reserved it at TRU and is still considering getting the game, might I suggest you go to Circuit City or Best Buy instead? I've read that those chains are pricematching SMG to TRU's price. Sometimes they sell it outright for $25 or sometimes they just give you a $25 gift card. And I'm sure they've got plenty in stock, too.

I took a bike ride up to the nearby Gamestop today, walked in, walked out with a copy without a pre-order.

It deserves all of the great reviews it's getting. The soundtrack is amazing, the game looks great, and the WAGGLE JUSTICE controls work extremely well. Maneuvering around worlds with the perspective changing constantly was a little disorienting at first, but after the first star or two I didn't have any problems going from planet to planet.

Also those little miniworlds that open by feeding those star things are hard as hell. One where you have to pull back and launch Mario from launcher to launcher took me at least 20 tries.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I basically had the same impressions as Taco. My head was a little weezy at first from the perspective, but I said F*** it, and carried on. And I'm glad I did cause this game oozes awesomeness. ^^

I hated that one, you had to be so precise, and I swear I was off by a quarter inch on the last launch!

I have nothing else to contribute other than the fact that this is the second game of the year that hasn't gotten a single disappointment yet (a couple others were close). Delicious cake!

Jimmy told me that he thought its possible that they didn't just simply get the shipment of the coins.
All GameStops // EBGames received at the very least, a number of coins equal to their respective pre-orders at the same time they received the games themselves. It is the same with Phoenix Wright plushes, Castlevania figures, and any other pre-order bonus that they may have. It may not be equal to the actual pre-orders, but it is enough for what they mail off to the companies as pre-orders (which may screw over people who pre-ordered after that happened).

The thing that you have to keep in mind is that although they arrive at the same time they necessarily may not arrive in the same box. Depending on the time of day that they get their shipments (and the mood the workers are in) they may or may not want to bother going through the boxes to find stuff.

There's also this clever little invention called the drawer. For the most part employees are allowed to cram whatever they want into their drawer. I know some people who stuck a few of the coins into their drawer and turned around and told people coming in with their receipts that they ran out of coins.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Bought my copy at Target and there were like 40 of them in the case. The guy also gave me a coin and I didn't even preorder the game (guess they didn't have many preorders there -- haha).

I didn't even bother with trying to go to Toys R Us. It's too far away from me and opened 2 hours too late for my schedule today, and I've been disappointed by them not having things in stock that they're supposed to.

We went and got it at Toys R Us and they didn't have a coin for us. They did, however, have a $25 Gift Card for preorders which I used to buy a Classic Wii controller today. Not that that fucking thing is gonna see any use any time soon since I'm gonna be playing this game until I pick up every fucking star.

Oh god, I <3 this game so much!

This is honestly a horrible month for me. There's too many games coming out in a row. Mario, Umbrella Chronicles, Ghost Squad, the Zapper... and everything else I could ever want. Blah.

And I'll probably spend all my time playing Mario until I have all 40-million stars. Also, comet-affected zones suck. Fuck that shit, and may it burn in hell.

I don't really have a complaint with the game, except that now looking at my monitor, I expect the display to be spherical instead of flat. No, really, I've been playing too much. The game's fucking amazing. The music is what really gets me goin'! Some of the boss music is downright epic and the levels' music is great! I'll probably do another minirip of songs from select levels.* Sucks that sound effects are probably unavoidable though.

*note: I know someone else ripped some songs, but they're all missing the intros and are otherwise sucky quality, so

edit: one of my favorite things was in the first area where you use the blue stars to pull you toward them-- on the first planetoid (the metallic square one), you don't have to use the stars! If you get the right momentum, you can actually slingshot your way to the next one with the gravity of it!

If you are getting Super Mario Galaxy and want a deal, get it from Best Buy:

Quote:
"Best Buy is instituting a company wide price match for the TRU ad for Mario Galaxy for WII + 25$ Gift Card.

Your best buy employee may not be aware as it was posted late closing tuesday night on the employee toolkit

Have your cashier ring up Mario Galaxy and enter promotional SKU # 6867688
It will bundle Mario with a 25$ issued Gift Card."
This rings up as either full retail ($50) price with a $25 gift card, or $24.99 with a gift card. Not sure what, but either way it trumps Toys R Us's deal. fu geoffrey

I think Best Buy realized that Toys R Us was stealing sales from them... So they decided to take action.

It's a weird situation for me. Even though I already own the game, in one of the nearby shopping plazas, there's a Toys R Us on one side and a Best Buy on the other. <_<

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I think it's more like Best Buy realized TRU completely dropped the ball on this one, saw a business opportunity and took it.

Anyway, I've got the game now. Finally after 4 trips, multiple calls and days of waiting, I've got the game. I managed to use a 15% off coupon from Babies R Us as well for additional savings -- the guy who rang it up was like "sure, I'll try it" and then "wow, you saved a lot." The coin is in such nice packaging! I'll be able to play later tonight after I finish some errands.

This is actually the first Wii game I've purchased since I got the system in July (with Mario Party 8, Wii Sports and Wii Play), so I'm expecting a great time. This $25 gift card will come in handy during Toys R Us's Buy 2 Get 1 Free Wii game deal next week... Looks like my collection may suddenly double!
