Barracuda gave me trouble on hard, but only because you're hitting those damn triples every couple seconds through the whole thing. I just took my 3 stars and got past it and probably won't bother with it again unless I have to. Heart doesn't strike me as a band to build a GH grid around anyway. Seems the 2nd tier usually has a few gameplay clunkers (Message in a Bottle/Heart-Shaped Box in II, that stupid Limozeen song in 80's).

Crap, I didn't know you could stock up on attacks. I figured it was like Mario Kart and I just emptied them on the CPU because I was afraid they'd get replaced by another I'd pick up.

My favorite song thus far is probably "She Bangs the Drums"...Cool song, really fun pattern all the way through. Really liked "3's and 7's" on medium (and the song itself), but it pwns me pretty badly on hard. And "Talk Dirty to Me" is a great warm-up song, like "Strutter" was in GH2. And I got my money's worth when I hit on "Welcome to the Jungle".

Not sure if I'm a fan of "One" or not...It's kind of like GH3's Freebird with the structure, but the last two minutes of that one pattern (G's, following by a triple) and the solo (filthy stuff) seem like kind of a weak payoff for the rest of the song.

*should've been "Ride the Lightning"

MUST. PLAY. MORE.

I must give props to those who can play on Hard/Expert. I've been able to get through a few songs on Medium (trying to beat "One" right now). Sometimes I wonder how I manage to get some of the notes. Its like my fingers just happen to move of their own free will or something. It creeps me out. =/

And I managed to beat Through the Fire and Flames on Easy. I know, not an accomplishment to most of you, but it is to me, damnit!

I came close to buying this for Xbox 360 tonight, but also saw it on PS2. Is there any difference of it being on PS2 than there is from the next gen systems? (Aside from the obvious graphics) I'd get the PS3 version, but it was sld out.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

There's no online play on the PS2 version... And apparently online play is a big deal this time around.

Either way, the next gen versions, including the Wii version, seem like the superior versions over the PS2 anyway. Unless you don't own a next-gen console, then that would probably the only reason to get the PS2 version.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I have all the next-gen systems, I just don't know if throwing $100 just to have a wireless controller is worth it. I almost did it tonight, but stopped myself mainly because of the crowd of people at Wal-mart. I know I asked this before but don't think anyone answered, if GH2 and Rock the 80s work with the PS3 controller? That would be a determining factor if I get the game for next gen or not.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

No the PS3 guitar does not allow for PS2 GH games to be played on the PS3. It sucks I know. So you have to keep your PS2 around still if you want to play thoes again.

But if you're ever going to want to play GH4 when it comes out in a year or two you're going to need a next-gen guitar anyways. So whether you buy it now or then, you're going to have to get one sooner or later.

I'm finding out...Speed is good thing in this edition. In the previous games, you had to hit the gems much closer to the center. Now it's more lenient and on expert speed, I almost can't miss as long as I don't let the gems by (obviously). I'm almost mashing instead of timing my strums. Of course, that's offset by the upped difficulty and many more notes, but I think I might mess around with Hyper Speed for hard mode, because I'm hitting basic strings of notes much easier with the speed boost on expert.

Anyone think you die a little too quickly?. I got to 97% on "Rock You Like a Hurricane", missed a wave and a half of notes and I died...I was borderline green/yellow at the time.

What do people think of "Impulse"? Nice seeing the "made specifically for GH" thing continue...Not the killer Jordan was, but it zapped me out of nowhere on Expert at 67%. I beat it on hard though without too much trouble. Mmm yeah...JUST like Jordan.

And I'm loving this stupid Superbus song...Not hard (even on expert), but fun. And catchy.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm so glad I got the Wii version on Sunday. It's nice that Epic Games aren't the only PC developer acknowledging the superiority of low-end AMD graphics solutions to NVIDIA's mid-high solutions (see recommended specs for UT3). I'm also not reading anything about the 8600 being supported (and I'm not optimistic given their explicit warning about 8400-8500 cards in Vista with AMD processors), or anything about Mac.

The Slayer song is hard, but not in the "I'm having fun" kind of way. That and the One solo actually feel kind of ridiculous...Shame, since I regularly listen to both.

I gotta say, the upper tiers on the other GH games were a lot more fun than GHIII so far...Easier yes (for the most part), but Hangar 18, Beast and the Harlot, Seventeen, Freebird and Electric Eye were actually a blast to play. One is kinda like a limp Freebird and Raining Blood can go back to hell (and "Number of the Beast" is the same stupid 3-note chord through half the song and I can't even get to the scream on expert) Oh well, Cliffs of Dover is great at least and 3's and 7's could easily be a final tier song and is pretty fun.

Bajeeeesus. From those specs I'd say it's either graphically a port of the 360 version, or it's just Aspyr being shoddy again.

Obviously Neversoft doesn't know about frets on fire or whatever that is

Once the guitar hero controller hits for PC, expect a new version to include support for said controller lol

I rented it the other day, since I can't afford to buy it right now.

This one seems a lot harder than the others. Hard Mode is kicking my ass. I'm stuck on the Japan tour, I think. (The one with Before I Forget, Stricken, 3's and 7's and Knights of Cydonia.) I managed to beat Stricken, but the others tear me apart. I can get to around 64% on Knights, but I can't even break 10% on the others. I don't know how I'll ever get to Expert. =(

@Knights of Cydonia:

Fuck you and your god damn triplets. FIRST song on Medium that I've failed in the entire game. Even when I slow it down I can't get them. Which is REALLY embarrassing because Knights of Cydonia is one of my favorite songs in the game

This is my first Guitar Hero game and so far I'm loving it. Beat the game on Medium the other night and I've been practicing pretty heavily to actually get the finger-sliding down for hard mode.

I think I may have just gotten extremely lucky, but Devil Went Down to Georgia was actually the easiest battle in the game for me. The first attack I got was Difficulty Up. I used it immediately and Lou crumpled like a paper bag. I actually stared at my screen stunned for a good half a minute since everything I've read described this battle as a major pain.

I bought the Wii version and I'm wondering if we're actually going to get any DLC. Nintendo has been pretty notorious about this sort of thing, but maybe we'll see some after this whole Wiiware thing kicks into gear.

Also, WHERE ARE MY EXTRA CONTROLLERS NEVERSOFT?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

This picture of a My Little Pony represents my failure to review the Mix CD that was sent to me. Like this image, I am a shining beacon of shame and disgrace.
