Ok, good. I thought I was the only one who felt like that push to talk crap is the most retarded bullshit ever. You'd think this is something that would have been complained about enough in the beta to have gotten eliminated.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall. |
I personally see nothing wrong with the game, campaign co-op is pretty intense when you're playing with people you know and the multiplayer is a step up from Halo 2 though I don't really like how you have to jump through so many hoops to do or play something anymore.
Love how the Brute Shot is useless now though, and it seems like any close quarters battle with someone can go just about either way no matter what weapon the other guy is holding. I like the game for what I've played of it, but I'd rather not pass judgment on it until I've played enough of it to warrant doing that. FELIPE NO |
This is easily the best Halo yet.
Also, the aim of the Brute Shot has been greatly improved by removing the arc and bounce of its rounds. Highly effective weapon, especially for melee. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Yeah, it is much easier to aim but it used to only require you shoot someone twice with it to effectively own them in Halo 2, now it requires at least three times to kill them. As for using it close quarters, it's sluggish enough to where someone with a faster weapon will almost always beat you since you won't get an immediate kill if you fire a shot from it and then melee with it. If you had an Assault Rifle and used it, then switched to the Brute Shot and melee'd that could be effective provided you have time to do it.
But like most weapons, it's all situational. I'm sure the Brute Shot would be awesome against vehicles now, though I haven't tried it. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Only thing about the whole push to talk problem, is that there are matches where you can talk at your own leisure, and other matches where you need to push to talk, so isn't there anything around within the game that enables that?
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Any time you have more than 4 people on a team you have to push to talk.
Can't change it, apparently. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() #654: Braixen |
I'm not familiar with "push to talk". Is there a button on the mic part that you have to press or something? I don't remember seeing it while playing last night - only a mute/mic_on switch. I'm sure I'll figure it out but uh gonna ask anyway.
Also last night was fucking awesome. First time on Live and I had a blast. Started it by asking for some help from Zeal on those giant walker things in campaign mode. I couldn't for the life of me find the weak point once I was on top of it. I crawled all over it and found nothing. Zeal and I were about to take it on again when we decided to join in with the #xblive crew instead for some massive multiplayer action. Oh, I sucked and I got the least kills most of the time (although that one round which I was opposite Team Awesome I somehow managed to get the most kills, like 10 or something, regardless my team was still raped beautifully) but I had a ton of fun. So glad I got a 360. I definitely have to do a long campaign session with you guys this weekend or something. Thanks for the good times. =))))) I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
You have to press the directional pad to talk.
I was speaking idiomatically. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

I'm not sure how Bungie managed it, but I can now MP with people across the world (well, except Skills) with little lag. Vast improvement from the beta netcode.
Meleeing Tails whenever I see him. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Acer, did you join our Forge session last night? I know I got the friend request from you around that point but didn't know if you'd hopped into the game too as I didn't see you (too busy looking to betray Tails for lol).
Most amazing jew boots |
I was playing with Zeal, Tails, Devo, Blah, Iwata, Garr, Taco, and few others from like 11 pm to 2 am. I don't remember you being in that group but I did send a friend request to you. =)
So naw, I don't think I was in your Forge session. You guys do anything crazy with them tools? =D Oh and hey guys how do I join the GF Leaderboards? "Gamingforce Members Leaderboard" - A Custom GamerScore Leaderboard :: MyGamerCard.net What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

I beat the game today. H3 Ending >>>>>>>>>>>X1000 Halo2 . Play it, beat it, wait for credits to end. Loved it.

See...now is when I wished I had XBOX Live

The sheep mentality of this forum is hilarious. It's practically follow the fuckin' leader around here. I wonder what trend will be next? Oh well, I don't really mind all of GFF jumping on the Halowagon, just please don't jump into multiplayer first and then attempt to give your "impressions" on the game. Better yet, please don't beat campaign on normal or easy and give a "review" of your handicapped experience.
Online co-op on LEGENDARY, first. Then you're gonna go into multiplayer matchmaking. Halo has ALWAYS been about the cooperative experience, playing with others and getting together. Halo is social. No wonder so many nerds hate it... How ya doing, buddy?

I'm confused. You say, "The sheep mentality of this forum is hilarious. It's practically follow the fuckin' leader around here." So you don't like how people are enjoying the game that you obviously love? Odd, but ok.
And the reason why other gamers don't like the game is because of the senseless killing and the lack of character design in multiplayer, and the random physics. A guy in a 3-ton suit should not be fgloating. And it gets boring shooting the same looking guy 10million times. There's lots of hardcore gamers who like Warcraft, Unreal Tournament, Gears of War, etc that don't like Halo. So it's not the community aspect that non Halo fans don't like. Also yes you can judge the game based on Normal difficulty. Because 99% of newcomers and 60% of previous players are going to play the game on Normal. And most of them will never play the game again. Therefore it's how the game was intended to be played. And if it's too easy or what have you then that's the developer's fault, not the gamer's. I do agree that 4 player co-op is pretty sweet though. How ya doing, buddy? |
The XBOX Live co-op was, hands down, smart. Just because you see the strategies people use in FFA/Team deathmatches but with Co-op its much more interesting.

next, if you said you don't mind that they did...why did you post this in the first place?
and ya know what, let me ask you, in Halo...on legendary did you fight the flood? on Heroic...did ya fight the flood? On normal did ya fight the flood? Yes, Yes and Yes. People can give their own damn opinions and it won't be handicapped. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Anyone here having disc reading problems?
Forums are now flooding with disc error problems. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I've a question - does Legendary mode play fair like in Halo 1, or is it still the cpu cheatfest as in Halo 2? Specifically, regarding damage scaling (Halo 2 Legendary got you killed after 4 plasma shots, Halo 1 didn't scale that horribly - instead, the 4 billion grunts could actually aim and chopped you to pieces in big numbers).
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Not really true. The person you responded to simply said "multiplayer". This includes splitscreen, LAN, AND online. Even without the online component, the game still received huge praise for it's multiplayer gameplay, and much of the talk about the game was about it's multiplayer (same with Goldeneye back in the day). For many, many people, their only experience with Halo was through playing multiplayer at a friend's house. In addition, the original Halo was online, in multiple ways in fact. The PC version (released a year before Halo 2) had full online multiplayer. The Xbox version could also be played online through Xbox Connect/Xlink Kai/Gamespy, a method which was strikingly popular (hell, it was pretty much the only game people played through those services). More than a few people owned the Xbox version of Halo and got the PC version only so they could play it online. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Halo's multiplayer was thrown into the game at the last minute of development, admitted by its creators, Jason Jones and Alexander Seropian. The fact that the multiplayer aspect alone became so popular is testament to what a well designed game it was. Ironically, the original Halo still has some of the best multiplayer ever made.
I'm also aware of simulating LAN play using XBC and the like, as I used to do it all the time. Nevertheless, the game was never intended to for online play, so it can't really be considered an official component. I also don't consider the PC version official, as it was outsourced. I was speaking idiomatically.
