Spoiler:
Looking at the nature of the damage on REX (look at the radome), it would seem likely. Maybe Snake went there and salvaged it somehow?

Also, the scene where Raiden is throwing up the artificial blood reminds me a lot of the scene in Alien where the android officer gets cut in half.

During GC last year 2 Russian gaming journalists had the chance to interview Kojima at the event but instead played a track by popular Russian flute player that sounded an awful lot like the MGS theme that was composed in the 70s IIRC. It seems ever since then the theme hasn't shown up with it being absent in every MGS4 trailer and was even snipped from the "MGS Theme" track on the 20th Anniversary album released not too long ago
But if this had made any kind of ruckus, wouldn't we have heard about it?

Argh. I did it. I watched the trailer, but in all honesty, with wasn't that bad at all. It's definetly worth viewing regardless.
Spoiler:
But what gets me is the question of what the hell Snake is doing with Rex that doesn't have a rail gun, or any other means to battle with Ray... What the hell?

Oh shit you're right, even the rail gun missing plus the cockpit is open. That has to be Shadow Moses. Man, they really did show too much now, that has to be last location you visit. Shadows Moses is where it all started and now it looks like it'll be where it all ends.

In fact, Kojima specifically mentions this at the end of the trailer, if anyone was wathing, but in anycase, he goes on to state that The Boss is to grow at an exponential rate and later surpass Snake's age becoming over 124 years old, before dying of decay. Snake later reharvests her energy in order to transport back in time to Shadow Moses where

Well back home from vacation to the UK and now I had the chance to watch the HD English dubbed trailer. Some good stuff in there but didn't really have that much of impact compared to the trailers for MGS4's predecessors. Infact the only trailer that seems like a typical "Kojima" trailer was at last year's E3 which introduced the characters with that vocal track and suicidal Snake. I think the main issue is with the music as again all the previous Metal Gear trailers featured the "Main Theme" prominantly and it's been notably absent in every MGS4 trailer to date including this TGS one which marks the last major event and trailer that the public will see.

Kojima supposebly said the theme was in the game but I'm even more doubtful after this trailer.

Spoiler:
BTW, did anyone notice the snowy local Snake and Liquid were fighting at? Could that possibly be Shadow Moses?
Spoiler:
It looks like it but the one question I have is what is REX still doing there? I would figured that after the events at Shadow Moses the government or even the Patriots would of retrieved and disposed of it, unless of course Ocelot selling the specs on the black market pretty much left REX to be left there with the rail gun dismantled and the entire base locked down and under surveilance...?

But if this had made any kind of ruckus, wouldn't we have heard about it?
Not unless they wanted to draw more attention to it than it already has. It almost seems like they're trying to quietly axe it incase of I assume copyright infringement by not including it in the trailers and snipping the theme portion from the MGS3 track on the 20th Anniversary CD. The problem is that it hasn't really worked since it already has drawn much attention thanks to the fans so there really is no idea if it'll be in the game or not.

Here's the video in question though of the 2 Russian journalists meeting Kojima and then playing the music:
YouTube - Metal gear solid main theme - plagiarism?

Argh.
Spoiler:
Because he's that bad ass that he's going to take on a Metal Gear that was designed to be THE Anti-Metal Gear that's twice the size of REX with only a Vulcan Cannon and a laser..

Also the demo for MGS4 unfortunately won't be on PSN. Seems like there was a miscommunication and while Kojima Productions "would like" to release a demo, at this time there are no plans to do so.

There's plenty of videos of the demo on the net though but sadly those playing it can't play nought for shit including this one at Jeuxvideo but you do get to see the Codec in MGS4:
Jeuxvideo.TV : Vidéo Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns Of The Patriots

Along with some new clips at IGN:
IGN: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Trailer, Videos and Movies

Also for anybody interested Jonnyram over at NeoGAF scanned the entire 52 page booklet that was handed out to each gamer who played the demo:

The MGS Theme was on the 20th Anniversary album
Video Game Soundtrack - Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary Collection - Order Now!

However I do agree that the MGS theme does sound a good amount like that Russian composer's song. The notes are similar, but it's the movements that are WAY too similar.

I also watched the new TGS trailer. It wasn't that big a deal on spoilers. And yes it rocked of course.

It's not though.

The track "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme - The World Needs Only One Big Boss!" is basically the main theme track from MGS3 except when it gets to the 5:04 mark when the Metal Gear theme is supposed to kick in the music shifts to the MGS2 track "The World Needs Only One Big Boss" and the MG theme is never heard.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Bleh, that sucks. It doesn't even sounds like they intend to release it. Why must they deny us the chance to play it!?! Hmm, maybe they're planning to package it an upcoming game of theirs...

Ohh, nice find! The first 30 secs or so kinda sounded like the PotC theme. But yea I didn't realize that they considered the vocal song (from 2006 E3 trailer) to be the game's love theme (sure didn't sound like one), that's very interesting. Now I wonder who's love theme this could be? From the TGS trailer I'm detecting a possible Snake + Naomi relationship building up, possibly their's? Plus remember from MGS, Naomi was about to make a love confession or something before being detained.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Do you really think GITS invented the concept of optical camouflage? The concept has been used in stories from as far back as the 1970s.

The intro of MGS2 is balatant ripoff of GITS intro.
As if snake is trying to ape major.
Difference is , snake jumps from bridge , and major from building.

And btw read old interviews of kojima may cry, he said himself that(being fan of gits/misamune works) he took lots of stuff from GITS.
Not just GITS but also that blasting boss from MGS3 , he said he took from some anime.

Also it's nothing new that MGS elements are based off of other hit media items. For example, back in the MGS1 days Kojima had an interview with GamePro where he said that he really loved anime and that a lot of ideas have been inspired from them (hence the Ninja Grey Fox). I'm sure that the Pain was not inspired by Ninja Scroll... right? With the guy who commands hordes of bees. Also the "Man Cannon" in the new MGSO I'm sure was'n inspired by Halo 3 (unconfirmed, but not surprising if it was). Then of course Snake based off Pliskin and so on and so forth. That's what's always been great about MGS, is it's media refferences, Kojima has never said that he's always made everything himself.

Exactly! Study of literature calls this post-modernism, meaning: Hey, when there's nothing new anymore, we can still indulge in intermedia references!

It's how you do it though, not what you do. Kojima does things with class and good humour. He's not portraying things in some negative way, so lighten up. It's not like that's all his games are, not even close.

GITS was first thing on SCREEN to give VISUAL interpretation to what you call literary works.
Visuals are totally different dimension and there is lots of other original stuff in GITS. Thats why it is still considered as masterpiece. The building jumping SCENE which i mentioned isnt in any book/novel or is it?

How many people know that there exist GITS before matrix, but general populace still rave about matrix.
Matrix copied whole credits thing from GITS, some scenes from Akira etc , developers accepted this but still matrix is original for majority and it takes all credit. Matrix is benchmark because most of moviegoers/matrix lovers dont even know of GITS existence. People like you and i , who know of original stuff aren't in majority, dude.

MGS copied direct intro scene, who takes credit of brilliant direction ? kojima, why? coz majority dont know about GITS.

Uptill now all single of you were liking MGS theme, giving credit to harry and koji direction that how good he directed harry to compose the theme, NOW we came to know that its copy paste material, who takes credit? not the poor russian but showman kojima, postmodernism my ass.

Anything that pops up good in MGS , gamers (rather say noobs), reaction is 'kojima rulz, he is mastermind and blah blah', but how many of these noobs actually know the originally source?

How many MGS players have seen ninjascroll?
But all will say kojima is genius, bees in action ,wow.

This is what i meant, and giving reference is one thing but ripping something off blatantly, like copy/paste , is other thing.

Living on creative material of others isn't admirable like people do in case of kojima may cry.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Harry Gregson-Williams did NOT compose the Metal Gear Solid theme, TAPPY did (if he "borrowed" from the Russian composer is a different animal). Do your homework, pal.

Also, it is pretty funny how you defend your precious anime by accusing the MGS fans of doing the same while, y'know, GITS' (which I love BTW) story, just for example, did not appear out of thin air (*cough*Blade Runner*cough*)

Alos, I don't think the MGS series won't go down in the history books for MGS2's opening sequence (which by itself is more of a reference to the Terminator trilogy), but for stuff like the fight against Psycho Mantis. And, hell, it's not that the MGS series doesn't know its roots: does the name OTACON and his ramblings about how much he likes animes and mechas and such ring a bell?!?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
