The Donation Scandal
So there was that whole thing today where Hillary had to give back a donation that she got from some guy who was a bad dude and everyone else started scrambling to make sure they didn't have donations from similarly bad dudes.
So, this is what I don't get. What is bad about her getting a donation from this guy? In my opinion, politicians should act based on what they think is right. What we see too often is that politicians sense of right is based on who gives them the biggest donations...someone who gets a large donation from the Big 3 isn't typically going to start voting a bunch of things that will hurt auto makers, even if it would be the right thing to do. So isn't her returning the donation an admission of that? Politicians are always quick to say that money shouldn't influence things and it doesn't...after all, "XXXX Will Take Your Money for Favors" doesn't look very good on a campaign poster. I like the idea of electing statesmen, people who wouldn't be influenced by money and wouldn't be compelled to give back money, lest he be tied to having to do some favor for said person. Essentially, what I get from her giving back the money is, "See, if I kept it, I'd have to do this guy a solid." That is exactly the type of logic I'd like to not ever see anywhere near a ballot box, but it just seems like everyone does it anyway. Jam it back in, in the dark.

It's like if you were a broad and you accepted shopping trips and fancy dinners from a dude you had no intention of fucking. If it were a ride to work or a pop or something once in awhile, however, there is no obligation.
Does that help? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yeah, but these politicians take money from tons of people they have no intention of fucking.
She's a selective hooker.
That I hadn't seen, though. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

It's also largely a matter of convenience. The Hillary Campaign is practically swimming in money, so it looks good to give this one donation back to somebody that could be a political liability.
Of course, it's not as if Clinton has just started acting like this bias exists. At the CIO "debate," she made it clear how valuable lobbyists were for things like nurses, even though a lobby for nurses no more represents the average American than a lobby for tobacco or anti-tobacco. There is also 'bros before hos' in politics too, and of course the emotional backbiting, the crying breakup anal sex, and misogynistic nice guys. I haven't yet found out whether ladder theory is true in politics though, I think I need to be an insider to collect that sort of information. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Yeah, the Wall Street Journal article uncovering it basically detailed it and eviscerated her for doing so. I recommend reading the story.

When a person or group endorses a candidate, it's assumed that the candidate in turn supports that group's interests. See, it's understood that lobby money is a roundabout legal form of bribery - we pay to get you in office, you look after our interests once you're there. This is also why a lot of people are not too impressed with Hillary claiming to be different from the Republicans and then cheerfully taking campaign money from anybody even vaguely connected to the Democratic party.

It still cracks me up that the media goes all apeshit over this but ignores the fact that earlier in August Romney's national finance committee co-chairman was charged with fraud, perjury, money laundering, and obstruction of justice. Liberal media indeed.
