EDIT: Speaking of flexing, further reason to love my job. Forgive the shoddy pics though, I don't have the means of properly editing and cleaning them up here at the office. ![]() Fancy slip that will get smudged within a second. ![]() The cover is super shiny and will be full of finger prints. ![]() ![]() ![]() It opens to this fold out, with a press disc, review code and a kind of booklet/magazine in the middle. ![]() Back of the magazine ![]() The magazine is just a few pages a is just typical hyperbole about what an amazing achievement in entertainment the game is. But the artwork is lovely. Interestingly enough, this review code is playable on a regular PS3. I guess they want/need far more people than only the established game media here to cover the title. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
So what was the reason behind them making beautiful, exclusive press kits which 99% of gamers won't end up seeing, again?
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Yeah, I can't imagine why you'd want to impress the gaming media who will be reviewing your title and then publishing said review in some form of mass media. That's just stupid.
I was speaking idiomatically. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall. |
Far be it from me to defend them, but they have been doing it for years now, you know.
Just because you've never been invited to a fancy and expensive launch party for a particular title doesn't mean they haven't held them. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Apparently there's a 'limited time' download for the Folklore demo on the UK store?
Why it is only for a limited time and why it is for the PAL store only is beyond me :/. and i know you have like 3 PS3's set up at work to run f@h qwarky. i will regain my status as ultimate folding champion. FELIPE NO ![]()

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Hey, that's some funny shit, people. Specifically, don't be so quick to diss. There's something to be said about what Elixir pointed out, even if it was heavy handed and s~snarky. Yes, gaming journalism and exclusivity for the press is what a lot of the common player folk miss out on. That is the point, I'll concede that. With position comes privileges.
However, and Brady brought this up in the Fallout 3 thread I believe, it's becoming more of a trend to keep the reviewers dumb and happy rather than legit and professional... Hmm, well, not necessarily dumb and happy. But most certainly focused on a few benefits to being privy to review copies. It's more than just snazzy extras, but it plays into it. Now, and I could be wrong, unless that content was going to become available later on, there is something messed up about keeping content like an art book privy to just review copies. Especially when we're trying to expand the game medium so that it will gain the appreciation that some of us feel it deserves. In spite of being a completely different subject than this thread contains, I think there was some merit in it, just poor choice of words. At that, I can get behind it more than "You owning Ikaruga will devalue my copy of it" (needed reference point). Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
I wish that I was dumb and happy... But the truth is I can't ignore when a game is bad, no matter how snazzy the packaging is
![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Right. Yet, some reviewers/previewers don't quite have the same passion you, allegedly, do. I believe there was some unrelated fiasco regarding some review on the Giraffe X-Box Live game, where the reviewer got caught red handed basically not even playing the game to a level where it could be accurately assessed.
Allegedly. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |

There's all this discussion about a press kit? It's....just a press kit. It's a professional thing. Do you send an anaylst your company's financial reports paper-clipped and rubber-banded together, or do you send it in a nice portfolio to put forth the impression that you in fact are a professional business?
It's just a press kit, folks. Edit: Gonna add a little more here. Another way of looking at it. You're doing up your resume`, right? Do you supply it with your ssj47_dbzfan_678305@hotmail.com email address, or do you create a jsmith@gmail.com and use that instead? I like that metaphor better. Yeah. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? Hey, the Folklore demo isn't bad! Finally, I got to experience some Wii feeling
![]() How ya doing, buddy? |

'wow that suck,' lol
FELIPE NO Nothing wrong with not being strong
Nothing says we need to beat what's wrong Nothing manmade remains made long That's a debt we can't back out of |
Playing a demo tomorrow or next week or a day after it is available in another market is simply not as good as playing it minutes after it first becomes available somewhere. Nerds are incapable of patience it seems. Did I mention DEMO.

I'm all for guys impressing their reviewers with games and bonus content. But still, doing that only masks the game itself with glorified extras. They can't really comment about the additional content added since the target audience won't be receiving it. It seems like a waste. I'd buy games even if they're shitty, if press kits were publicly available. Not many games come with bonus material at all these days. Art books, fancy cardboard casing, post cards (hey ICO), bonus soundtracks, etc. All good. What do you have to lose? Nothing screams "Buy me! Buy me!" more than a game with bonus stuff sitting next to the rest of the sheep on the shelf. Make better sense? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
oh well sorry for not knowing that the demo was coming on the US PSN Store today too >.> it's not like it never happen that a demo was not release at the same time on all PSN store...
anyway it's on the US one now, so I'm happy... Additional Spam: the first thing that i have to say about the folklore demo is that it look horrible on a SD TV. I could even read what the character was saying and it was even worst when they highlighted some word in red. When they were saying to hold R1 to absorb the soul it took me 2 min to find out which button to press because I couldn't see clearly the button icon. The cut-scene where great and very clear, but the game itself was very blurry and was hurting my eyes... I hope they will change that in the final product... inside from the fact that i don't have an HDTV yet. The game was pretty fun. I like the concept and the art design of the game. It's pretty fun to figure out which folk is better on which enemy ^^ my only little complaint is that both character seem to play to much alike. For me the basic idea of choosing between 2 character is mainly because they are pretty different, but in this game it's so that the gameplay is very similar. I guess it will change more story-wise. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]()

I just finished going through the demo with the girl and definitely enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was having to jerk the controller around to absorb the soul, which seemed pointless and tacked on much like the general concept of motion sensing on the PS3. It's like when it initially went into development, you probably had to hold R1 and then hit X to absorb, but then Sony was like "gotta use that motion sensing guys, figure something out" and so here we are. I am also wondering if the lack of voice acting is just on the demo or if it will be that way in the final game. Honestly, for the first minute or so, the lack of voice acting was distracting since it is so prevalent these days.

It's just the demo. I can already tell you that based on the import version.
How ya doing, buddy? |
That's good to know that it's just the demo because the voices of the characters in the trailers seemed well casted that it would have been sad if the ingame was lacking this... but it's not. ^^
As for the demo, I beat it with Keats and it was AWESOME. The motion stuff responds accurately and when finishing the boss was a rewarding experiance. Nothing like ripping the soul out of someone to finish them off, Mwahahahahaha... I was speaking idiomatically. |
I have recently inherited a "Broken PS3", Meaning it works fine except for reading the actual disks; It shows that it reads the disk but never actually loads the game. It run's everything else, Internet and demos etc...
So, Lack of reset won't allow us to get a "Free Repair" from Sony, Making it cost us 200 Dollars in order to get it repaired. I've read on the Sony Forums of the "Blue Ray Laser" suddenly stop working, Assumably what's happened to me. So any possible way in which I could ressurect the broken PS3 without laying down 200 dollars? If not, I guess i'll have to bite the bullet. I know it may sound dumb that i'm posting on something that seems un-fixable, But 360 Users have the "Wrap Your Xbox In a Blanket" Method, So it could be up in the air on fixing this faulty disk drive. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
If you got the thing from someone else for free, I don't see how you can complain about $200 for repair.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Good news for Slayer and other Canucks with those PStriples.
The Warhawk with bluetooth headset bundle is 20 bucks cheaper in Canadaland from that there Best Buy than it is in the US of A. Links: 60 USD bucks at EB~ 40 Canuckars at BB.ca~ Most amazing jew boots |
If I'm not mistaken the game is also supposed to be $40 on the PSN right? If so, I might as well just get the hard copy.
Though I already have one, there's no mention of a headset with the game on Best Buy's page. Perhaps that explains the price difference. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
?????
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Bah, leave me alone, lol. ^^;
I wasn't looking at the title, I was looking in the features area for like a BONUS thing. Ah well... This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
