Meteor Showers

The 2007 peak of the Perseid meteorshower [sic].

So, this weekend is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. I'm planning on finding a nice, dark field, bringing some hot chocolate, and watching it. Anyone else planning on seeing shooting stars this weekend?

Have you been out viewing meteor showers before? Back in my undergraduate years, my friends and I climbed out onto the roof of their apartment, lie back, and watch the Leonid meteor showers. It was awesome - aside from the small ones, we saw a couple of real fireballs!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I've never been fortunate enough to be in a favorable location during a meteor shower. This weekend I will be up North for a wedding, so maybe I'll finally get a chance.

I've seen some shooting stars before, though, which were real cool.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I have only witnessed a shooting star probably twice in my lifetime (and recent for that matter).

So what is the frequency in shooting star sightings in these 'showaz?

Sadly enough, I have NEVER seen a shooting star at all. Even during the alleged "showers", nothing appeared before my eyes that remotely resembled a meteor, save perhaps a satellite. Maybe I am just blind to the speeding objects of the heavens.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I missed it, just like I missed that comet that I wont be alive for when it comes back around Earth.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
