Normal Held Item Clause:

Meaning, no Quick Claw, King's Rock. You know, that sort of stuff.
Wait, so the items that have a random chance of working aren't allowed in a Metronome tournament?

I can sort of see why the Leftovers clause would be in effect, but not allowing Quick Claw and King's Rock seems against the spirit of an essentially random tournament.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I'm interested =o.

But I'm also asking why random effect items like Quick Claw are out. It helped me out in a pinch and it made for a epic match *usually.*

No problem, Kai. I'll probably get those to you sooner than I can get Sphere all his TMs...

His list is killer. T_T

On top of that, I still need to get a bunch of dumpers to hold the various TMs, and I still need to come up with nicknames for my Pokemon in Emerald, I decided to clone all of them so I would still have something to salvage and use in game. <_<

And finally get a Blaziken decently leveled up enough to learn Brave Bird.

I was thinking about riding with Kirby Super Star Helper nicknames, but Rocky would seem like such a bad nickname for Tyranitar...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hey, beats me why they're banned. I guess they want it to be truly random, but. Who knows.

I wouldn't care if Quick Claw was unbanned, but I say leave King's Rock and the rest where they are.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Sphere, I'll get you those TMs as soon as I can. I haven't had a whole lot of time to play since I've been really busy lately. T_T

And I have a crapload of Lucky Eggs also if anyone wants any. <_<
Oh crap, thread came to life. No problem, I can wait and there's tons to do anyway so take your time. I think I've figured out how to get around the level 18 pokemon evolving. If Compound Eyes (or any ability that requires that pokemon to be in the lead slot) still works, then I could just faint it and have the covet/thief pokemon in the second slot. No switching and now worries about leveling.

If only I can get the backlot bastard to mention seeing a Chansey without wading through:

Porygon
Igglybuff
Mime Jr.
Cleffa
Clefairy
Eevee

etc... But could I have some of those Lucky Eggs too? I just brought over a Bulbasaur and Squirtle, and it'd be great to have more than one while I train the green guy up until it gets Seed Bomb then breed it with the adamant female once it comes over.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

DAMN YOU. I've already established my thieves, if I had known this sooner I would've migrated my Butterfree from LeafGreen. Not a big problem though, I've got a Zangoose with me with False Swipe and Thief for those times when I want to pokeradar something and/or steal. Then there's Delcatty with Covet, with tons more PP.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

One Pokemon should at least have 10 ribbons on them. Easiest way to do it is to complete that woman's story each day of the week in Sunyshore, the Footprint Ribbon near Pastoria, and the Hall of Fame Ribbon for beating the Elite Four.

And I finally have a new member for my team.

Garow (Gengar) [M]
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Confuse Ray
- Shadow Ball

I'm debating on what I should do with Confuse Ray... Keep it, or replace it with something else... If so, can anyone recommend a better move set?

I was speaking idiomatically.

Hmm I wouldn't change anything. It's got a good type coverage and you're able to throw the opponent into a confusion status if you need that extra turn to setup something else. Though, Hypnosis may give you better results if you don't mind a 70% success rate.

You'll just have to test him out =p.

Oh yeah. I trained a new pokemon but it's not for competitive play. I decided to train one of the weakest pokemon in the game, Spinda .

Right now I gave it this moveset for now:
Teeter Dance (I wonder what it'll do in a 2v2 match)
Faint Attack/Dizzy Punch (still deciding, but I kept Faint Attack at the moment.)
Endure
Flail
Hold Item: Salac Berry
Ability: Own Tempo

You can already tell I can do alot of wacky stuff with this guy. Any suggestions?

As I mentioned earlier, a doubles tournament. I got some new Pokemon I wanna try out in battle and most of my previous Pokemon are set up for Doubles and Singles...

But, I wanna see if I could pull off a successful Slacking/Shuckle combo... I have an idea in mind, but speed is a complete issue, which was one of my problems in the previous tournament... Speaking of which, what were the results, Kairyu?

A doubles tournament sounds good. Assuming we're all here I don't think the Metronome Tournament will last more than a day. So we can follow up on another tournament the next day. Or in a few days if we need time to prepare.

Crap I almost forgot. I didn't post the results yet =O.
And I didn't see Crash today or yesterday while I was online. But I PM'ed him about that just now.
In either case I'll add up the points tomorrow and find out who won by a mile, I think we're all getting tired of waiting!

move 2: Baton Pass
move 3: Protect / Calm Mind
move 4: Hypnosis
item: Leftovers
ability: Own Tempo
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SDef

[SET COMMENTS]

Spinda Wishes that it had better stats. And a better sprite. You've gotta admit, it looks ugly. Incredibly ugly. It couldn't possibly be more ugly; if it walked into a fire, it'd look like it just came out of Extreme Makeover.

Now, as soon as it Wishes, you can Baton Pass out to pass the loving Wish to another Pokémon and restore half of its Hit Points... if Spinda doesn't die first writhing in agony from a Luvdisc Tackle. Protect helps stall its inevitable doom, scout for Choice Pokémon, and restore its own health from Wish. How exciting.

Instead of Wishing, Spinda may Calm Mind to rest in peace. Preferably under a grave. One turn should be all Spinda can take, so Hypnosis the enemy. How Spinda can do this is beyond me - you'd think its incredibly ugly features would be enough of a distraction to render its opponents utterly incapable of being hyptonized, but what do I know. Once you're all "set up", Baton Pass out to another Pokémon whose body is made out of muscles instead of paper.

[SET]
name: One-Trick Bear
move 1: Trick
move 2: Hypnosis
move 3: Psycho Cut / Faint Attack / Sucker Punch
move 4: Return / Double-Edge
item: Choice Band / Choice Scarf
ability: Own Tempo
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Att / 252 Spd

[SET COMMENTS]

If Spinda has Choice Scarf, it outspeeds everything on its teetering legs. Take advantage of Spinda's horrendous face, using it to Trick your opponent (Spinda's face is like a train-wreck; it's horrible, yet you simply can't look away) while you swap their items, hopefully Tricking Spinda's item onto a tank or sweeper that wants to set up.

Now the advantage is in your hands. Hypnosis someone else, and you've just disabled a third of their team. And just as suddenly, Spinda's usefulness runs out. The only thing he can do next is Psycho Cut, Faint Attack, or Sucker Punch the Pokémon that otherwise resist Spinda's STAB moves.

[SET]
name: Enduring Flailer
move 1: Endure
move 2: Flail
move 3: Baton Pass
move 4: Faint Attack / Sucker Punch
item: Salac Berry
ability: Own Tempo
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 Att / 4 Def / 252 Spd

[SET COMMENTS]

Whenever you think you're about to die (read: fairly common), make your Spinda Endure all the insults at his unsightly physique and survive at 1 HP. Send it off Flailing and crying madly against its attackers for a 200 base power attack multiplied by STAB. Baton Pass out to give another Pokémon a Speed boost, knowing that their trainer finally chose them instead of Spinda. Faint Attack or Sucker Punch that them there Ghosts.

[SET]
name: Focused Counter
move 1: Counter
move 2: Focus Punch
move 3: Return
move 4: Faint Attack / Psycho Cut
item: Focus Sash
ability: Own Tempo
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 HP / 4 Att / 252 Spd

[SET COMMENTS]

If you're good at prediction, this is where Spinda's black belt training finally pays off. Whenever your opponents dawdle instead of attacking Spinda like they should be, let fly a Focus Punch to ram their faces in and make them as ugly as Spinda. If you can manage to anger them into physical attacks, Counter back their attack - thanks to rigorous training in secluded mountain temples and the Focus Sash around its waist, Spinda always survives the first attack.

Once you're weak or the enemy knocks your Focus Sash away, use the last two moves to flail around before you die: Return to try to reclaim Spinda's former glory, Faint Attack to fight sneaky, or Psycho Cut to show Spinda's true colors - a raging schizophrenic.

[Other Options]

Disable causes the enemy to become completely appalled at how much Spinda sucks horribly in every aspect of everything, and be unable to use the last move it did out of pity.

[Opinion]

Suffocate in a Heatran.

Seriously, what was GameFreak eating when they shat out this pitiful excuse for a Pokémon? It has a great movepool - in fact, it's one that extends out ad infinitum - but its stats went down the crapper.

At least Spinda has many uses, which are:

[Counters]

Good one.

Mawile takes anything of Spinda's - except Focus Punch - and Intimidate turns Spinda's limbs into jelly. Relicanth takes the same moves, and it can Head Smash Spinda and irreparably fracture its skull (not much difference with or without a head, anyway). If Relicanth has a Choice Band, it can come in on Trick Spinda relatively safely, and if Relicanth has Sleep Talk, it can take Hypnosis. Sudowoodo makes like a tree and ignores everything Spinda throws at it.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind participating in another tournament.

The descriptions on the movesets are wonderful... But I could only wonder why the hell they made Spinda so horrible. I always thought it was a cool Pokemon and before I actually looked at it's base stats, I was just about to raise one.

Since Kairyu's doing that, I'll see what else I could do.

I've got a weird question. I can't explain this one.

Last night, I was purging my boxes of unnecessary Pokemon. You know, releasing them. I had a Lvl. 7 Buizel that I don't need, so I sent it away.

But it came back?! "Was it worried about you?", the game told me.

I've never had this happen. I never even used it, so it shouldn't have built up any affection. Is the refusal to leave a sign of something good, like Max IVs or anything?

This doesn't make sense.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

So I basically made a variant of a Enduring Flailer, awesome!

And yes the current one is over, me and Crash just have one match to finish off then I'll post the results.

I often wonder why most normal type pokemon have horrible, HORRIBLE base stats.

Haha, instead of a Spinda Tournament we should have a normal type tournament. Minus the upper tiered pokemon like Blissey and Miltank.

Wow, never heard of that happening. Then again I never had to purge my storage area yet.
Maybe it was the first pokemon you caught in that game?

The only idea I have on Crash's problem is that the Buizel knows an HM move, and the game won't let him abandon it for that reason.

Could you check the Buizel's moveset to see if this theory is correct, Crash? =o

First, .

Second, I've never heard of that happening before... This is interesting to research about.

After running several tests:

I checked the HM Theory, I released my Charizard, the bastard loves me. He left.
I released Vincent, my Lucario, my most loved Pokemon. Bastard left me.

I'm gonna try to do some research online...

[edit] I researched about it online, one board said that you could release traded Pokemon, therefore it kept returning. That already breaks the theory because it's Crash's, but I tested it out anyway, The Charizard I had was received in a trade, so that couldn't work either...

[edit 2] Ok after the two first theory's failed, for kicks, I tried releasing a Mew that knew nothing but HMs. Nothing. He still left. <_<

I'm stumped. Most sites are saying that it either involves a max friendship level or it knows an HM move.

Psh, that's bull.

They also say it just happens by chance. I might believe that, but every site is saying the same thing... Even the Gay Pokemon Fan Livejournal Community. <_<

Anyone know how to get Wormadam's other forms? As far as I know, you simply go to the correct place and level it up. Problem is, I tried that (going down into Galactic HQ's warehouse/basement) and gave my level 19 female Burmy a rare candy and... it turned into the grass form.

What gives?
