This is definetly a low blow to the psp scene community, but it's not the end of the world. He'd probably lend the source code to someone anyways. Not to mention that there are plenty of people working on custom firmwares. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

well, seeing as 3.40OE is the latest I've only seen games needing..
and seeing how the good games are almost already out... FELIPE NO WALK WITH THE DREAMERS,
THE BELIEVERS, THE COURAGEOUS, THE CHEERFUL, THE PLANNERS, THE DOERS, THE SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE WITH THEIR HEADS IN THE CLOUDS AND THEIR FEET ON THE GROUND. LET THEIR SPIRIT IGNITE A FIRE WITHIN YOU TO LEAVE THIS WORLD BETTER THAN WHEN YOU FOUND IT. |
Because Dark Alex (the guy who codes the custom firmwares) has stopped working, something tells me the homebrew scene won't be progressing much for a while.
I'm still using 3.03 OE. :d What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
OK, color me stupid but I just had to ask.
I've been trying for awhile to get my PSP to play videos and so far, I haven't been having any luck. For example, I tried to get Rock's encode of the Ace Combat 6 trailer that he posted here, but when I loaded it into \MP_ROOT\100ANV01 as MAQ00001.MP4 and tried to play it back, I'd get an "Unsupported Data" error. Anyone know where I'm screwing up here? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
You need to have at least firmware 3.30 (OE-A or official) for that video, because it uses an advanced h.264 profile. There's no need to rename the file, just put it in the \VIDEO\ folder on your Memory Stick.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
OK, I'll give that a shot. I should've mentioned that that I was running it on 3.40 OE-A. To clarify would the \VIDEO\ folder be created in my root directory? As in E:\VIDEO\? Or would that be in the E:\PSP\VIDEO?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
As far as I know, it can be in either of those, but go for ROOT:\VIDEO\ just to be sure. Furthermore, you can get rid of \MP_ROOT\ and ridiculous video file naming alltogether now, since \VIDEO\ is the new unified folder for all PSP video formats.

Did you convert it again using popstation 3.30?

How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
It should come with the OE installation. It's more or less 3.30, if not exactly. Not sure...
edit: Or when you're converting CC. Use the Game ID: SLPS 01222 (Don't what it does, I just read it off somewhere). What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() Want obscure Classical Music CDs? Search: http://www.lib.uwo.ca/ PM me the code, I'll rip it for ya [MAX 2 CDS/User]

http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/11/s...-video-output/
God dammit, I don't want to buy another PSP, but it's slimmer and has video output now ![]() Hell, I probably still won't get it, even if Darth Vader really is on the back of it. How ya doing, buddy? |
Extended battery life and video output are the exact two things I'm really missing on my PSP. I was hoping they wouldn't get rid of UMD and the current layout. This is perfect.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
The redesign looks nice, although not a particularly substantial improvement. Mainly I just want it for the video-out, although that *may* be possible on the original PSP if they would release a cable for it (it appears the new serial port on the PSP is slightly different from the original). I'm curious about just how big of a difference there will be in battery life. Shame that they removed the IR port and the UMD loading drive looks flimsy now though.
It is, however, a decent amount lighter: around 5.5 ounces compared to the original which was over 8.3 ounces. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
33% Lighter - Doesn't really matter to me because I'm not carrying this thing around in my hand most of the time, I guess it would be helpful for playing it.
19% Slimmer - I didn't really notice the difference >_> Improved Battery Life - I rarely play away from the charger if it's a game that requires a long period of time, and my battery life is good enough as it is. Maybe if I was putting the game on maximum brightness... New and Improved UMD Drive for faster loading of games and zero lag - I'll believe it when I see it, but lol this is pointless for homebrew users anyway. TV Output - Doesn't appeal to me... The features are nice, I'm not going to lie. However I don't think they warrant the purchase of another PSP; it would be nice for someone who didn't have one and was thinking about getting one. Wonder how long until that gets hacked. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Insted of the video-out option, it would have been a lot better if they changed the freaking position of the analog stick. It's too damn low and it's very unconfortable. Just put it above the d-pad and you'll make my gaming life a lot easier.

I don't really care much for an output but for battery life, it's a must? Plus, I think with this new version , we can have a better dpad for 2d fighters.
@ sepharite - I never converted Chrono Cross but I guess I'll have to rip the isos and convert it myself. Is there a new pops converter around? Only place I know is DA but his site is down now. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I wish they would give an estimate as to how much the battery life is extended.
If it's like 1 more hour or something that's lame. FELIPE NO |
I bought a PSP just two weekends ago. Couldn't use it until last weekend, since I needed USB plugs for it (had to order them. If I updated, I'd ruin Homebrew possibilities =o Plus no router so no way to DL the update. Blol.
I don't feel regret about a new PSP just now coming out (or announced). I always keep this thing near a charger, never play it for massive tracks of time or anything like that. Currently in love with the fuckin' thing. PSP Homebrewed with PS1 games is beyond the definition of awesome. Only PSP game I have is MGS: Portable Ops which is interesting, but it's horribly clunky and claustrophobic-feeling. I'll beat it eventually, but I'm enamored with old PS1 games. At present, my 2 gig card is half full. The games on it are Vagrant Story, Tenchu 2, SaGa Frontier 1, & Front Mission 3. Got damn nice Popstation GUIs for all of 'em. Soooo pretty =D Got Lunar 1, 2, and SaGa Frontier 2 on my HD waiting to be thrown on sometime in the future. I think I'll keep my collection confined to these four for now <3 Best money I've spent in years. Most amazing jew boots
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

The big pants expanding screen is still left to get scratched to death, I really thought they would have gone with some Tonka tough clamshell design or something. But video-out is a bloody awesome addition. MAYBE I WILL FINALLY BUY A PSP TO PLAY THE SIX PSP GAMES I HAVE SITTING AROUND WHEN THIS LAUNCHES.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I'd like to get this new PSP when it's released, though I really like the original version just fine. The new D-pad will make Tekken: DR and Darkstalkers much more fun, and the video out should make playing all the PSP Metal Gear games easier. I was never a big homebrew person when I had my old PSP, but now that PS games are working well, the possibility of playing Front Mission 1-3 (and Alternative) is pretty exciting.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This new PSP that was shown at E3 really interests me now that they got it an extended batterly life. But I would like to ask one question...exactly which systems can be emulated as of this moment? And how good is the compatibility rate? Outside of emulation, I think the only game that interests me is the upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics remake they're doing.
I also heard that it was being released at a $169.99 price point. If that's true, then this is a damn good deal. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I wouldn't buy the new PSP. Yeah, the battery life and video output is tempting, but a new PSP means a new firmware. New firmware means no homebrew.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
Stuff goes here~
|
Damn, I suppose I'll hold out on a PSP until it's been out for a while and some homebrew support comes back on the new PSP firmware (tacitly waiting for a wishful price drop)
I was speaking idiomatically. |
The new FW in the PSP Slim will be broken eventually. There's already a custom FW for 3.51. O_o
How ya doing, buddy? |
