KIMCHI
Kimchi, the quintessential Korean food. Red, spicy, crunchy (unless really really REALLY overripe) and tasty, this particular food is present in most Korean households, mind included.
Have a bad taste in your mouth and can't get rid of it? Eat Kimchi! Have sinus congestion and can't taste anything? Eat Kimchi! Have a vampire infestation? Eat Kimchi! Have avian flu, AIDS, or any type of ailment? Eat Kimchi! Kimchi lovers UNITE! Haha, okay, so I guess the point of all this is to spread Kimchi love and to joyfully sympathize with all other Kimchi lovers! ![]() How ya doing, buddy?

What do you eat it with? Because my roommate (who is Mexican, not Korean) got it one time and I told her I wanted to try it, but I tried it by itself, so I didn't like it
![]() Anything in particular besides rice? There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Maybe your roommate just got some crappy kimchi. That happens sometimes...the seasonings aren't right or whatever. Also, it's spicy, so some people don't like that. And you get dragon breath from it too...anyway, just try it again! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Dragon breath is an awesome description. =O I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Last time I ate kimchi, it was not spicy at all. Only sour...

Thanks to Fjordor for the funny image!

I've only had kimchi in sushi. It is, indeed, crunchy and spicy and good. Opens up your sinuses, that's for sure, and it tastes awesome with raw salmon.

I personally like the smell; however, a majority of my non ethnic friends abhor it. Asia Markets and Dong Dong Oriental markets carry it here in St. Louis...I'm not sure about where you are. FELIPE NO

Yeah, kimchi's great. I ate that a lot when I was in Japan. Mostly the Japan-manufactured shit though, but I had some korean friends who actually got kimchi sent to them by their moms so I got to taste the real stuff.

Who doesn't love Kimchi? I dated a Korean girl for a few years, and was spoiled by her mom's cooking. Kimchi is GOD.
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |

Mmm, kimchi (actually saw some in a Safeway store today!)
There's tons of it in my household, though I rarely ate it as a kid. Nowadays, my Korean-blood sings for kimchi, especially after eating half-assed meals and dormitory food. My grandma also lives with me, and she's a kimchi-making machine! There's the typical cabbage kimchi, but now we have nappa and green onion kimchi. Sadly, most of my friends can't stand spicy food, so I don't think they've tried kimchi before D': There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Or that, the sourness just comes from Kimchi going bad (not enough spices). This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Now you have got me interested in this food. I wonder where I can get some.

Asian food market?
I enjoy it. Home made stuff is definitely better. I've also tried "kimchi carrots," which are very tasty also. I was speaking idiomatically. |
I admit that that would probably be very easy to do, assuming that I lived in the city in which they were Asian food markets. However, there are none in this area.

This might come off as an insult to you Kimchi lovers but I've had Kimchi that came in those microwavable, disposable cups and I loved it. Moreso than the actual Kimchi. And I don't know why. ;_;
