Transformers 2

Spoiler:

Okay, so I just saw the first movie and it was fantastic but I was looking online and I found out that there is a second movie due to come out in 2009. (I am super excited about this by the way) My question is (if you havent seen the movie yet and dont want to know what happens do not read any further) Who will the bad guy be? Will Megatron come out of the ocean and if he does the only other decepticon that survived was starscream and he left the planet. What main characters do you think will return for the sequel?

Spoiler:
I would've figured that this would've been normal chatter in the Transformers thread since all the discussion about the possibility of sequel would obviously go there.

Either way, you already mentioned it in the thread...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Ok, we don't need to spoiler everything, kids. Well, first, I don't know what movie you saw, but I saw the Michael Bay trainwreck that proved yet again why he's one of the worst in Hollywood. Maybe you saw the old movie by accident, was that it? Because if it's the Michael Bay picture you saw, then I'd have to say you have horrid bloody taste in film. Then again, I've seen most of your posts so far, righteous, and it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Anyway, as for a second movie, it would need a new director willing to do comic-y things (Maybe Chris Nolan will be done with Batman by then) and a new script writer. Oh, and less tits, more robots. Maybe some actual decent action scenes, and not just twisted metal and explosions.

They can keep the shanking, though.

I was speaking idiomatically.

What was wrong with the movie? It kept me entertained despite dragging on for two hours longer than it should have.

You're saying it should have been 40 minutes long?

Didn't Scorponok survive as well? He didn't show up in the final fight, did he? I lost track of who was who amongst the whir and blur... gotta watch it again...

Anyway, for Transformers 2, other transformers will start coming out of the woodwork (Hasbro gets to make more toys with more transformers). Prime will return, for sure. You heard it here first.

Spoiler:

Autobot Body Count:
* Jazz
* Bumblebee's legs (presumably reattached by Ratchet)

Decepticon Body Count:
* Blackout - Dead
* Scorponok - Escaped into the desert sand. Injured
* Frenzy - Decapitated. Quite possibly dead
* Barricade - Disappeared right before Bonecrusher tackled Prime. He was supposed to die after Bonecrusher, but they cut the scene, instead having him seen just starting to exit the highway. Maybe they just wanted to show him chickening out at the sight of Prime and lying low.
* Bonecrusher - Decapitated and dead.
* BRAWL (despite Hasbro's self-confessed editing room mistake of "Devastator") - Completely an utterly owned. Dead.
* Starscream - Runned away
* Megatron - ?Dead. Dumped in the sea (I put a question mark before dead, because the Allspark didn't seem to be completely destroyed, and they may use it in a sequel by having what remains of it fuse with his spark and bring him back even stronger and more powerful, or something like that)

I suspect Dinobots, ftw. What's with the spoilers? Why would someone check out this thread if they didn't watch the first movie.

Yeah, the producer has already mentioned he has an idea on how to introduce Dinobots and Constructicons in a sequel. Maybe they'll change Bonecrusher's name or something?

Ahh, I was wondering what happend to him too. Do you have a source for that piece of info? Cause seeing as how it was cut, there's a possibly of bringing him back.

Oh and lets not forget about the new decepticons gained: the pop machine, the SUV, and the Xbox360 (at least I think it was).

I came across this info either on the newsblog or forum of the Michael Bay website, or more probably on donmurphy.net/board. I can't nail down the specific thread unfortunately, as it has been a while since I read it, and the thread has since been buried. However, I know that the information came either from Robert Orci (one of the script writers who has been very interactive on DM.net) or Nelson/Iceforest (the administrator of the Michael Bay website who, when not belittling people, occasionally provides information/news)

I've heard that, aside from the leaked script, the original sequence of events may also appear in either the novelization or the comic adaptation. However, I can't confirm this, as I have only looked through the leaked script (... after I saw the movie though, for spoiler-reduction )

As for the MountainDew machine, SUV, and Xbox360, I'm not sure if any official statements has been made about them. I guess the audience is just meant to assume that they were dealt with by the military or killed during the fight. Robert Orci DID mention (in answer to a question about why they were all default evil) that they were essentially soulless entities who behaved much like animals rather than truly intelligent creatures.

Uh, can someone tell me the MEANING of Dinobots.

The point of transforming is to blend in. I'm sure Grimlock is going to get far in this respect.

Prime: AUTOBOTS. ROLL OUT.

Seriously. I can see things like stuff from Beast Wars (gorillas, cheetahs, rhinos minus the dinosaurs), but Dinobots just don't make any sense.

As for the sequels, two were confirmed by Spielberg a good year and a half ago. He wanted to do a trilogy and (I believe) even mentioned Unicron somewhere down the line, but I don't know if he meant that for certain. This was back when the Transformers movie website first went online, so it might still be up in the videos section.

While I really enjoyed the movie, it was still a Michael Bay film with Michael Bay flaws. I liked the fights but wanted a less erratic camera -- one that focused on what the Transformers were doing more than chasing Shia LaBeouf through a city. Somebody needs to introduce Bay to wide angles.

My only other complaint was the distinct lack of Transformer interaction and dialogue. For a movie called Transformers, they felt more like a guest-stars to a movie about them. I'm looking forward to the sequels, but I'd like less High School drama, even though I liked Shia.

I see a lot of people complaining about this as well, and, the only thing I can agree on is that scene where an autobot launches himself over a woman who, in slow motion, is screaming I guess. While she certainly did look retarded, that was the only unecessary thing I saw in the film.

A lot of people wanted more action, more autobot time, but this had just as much action in it as any spider-man movie, or X-men movie honestly. Old school transformers fans still enjoyed the movie, it's the psycho's that think the movie was a complete fucking tradgedy because bumblebee wasn't a beetle, there was TOO much human interaction/drama/whatnot who I think are out of line.

I'll roffle if one of those people I mentioned above say that they LOVED Superman Returns for all that it was. Shit, the little 3 year old had more actions scenes than Superman.

I actually thought that there was far too much human interaction for the movie and not enough Transformers screen time. There was almost zero character given to either the Autobots or Decepticons. They were, in effect, giant robots who change shapes. They were not Transformers, as the title of the movie would imply, at least none recognizable due to their actions/looks.

Action or not, I wanted character screen time, to identify with the robots themselves, considering the movie is about them. I could absolutely care less about Generic Army Guy number 2 or Secret Government Agent Head or Computer Hacker Nerd #1. That's not what the movie should have been about.

At least watching Superman, I can identify Superman not only by his costume, but due to every scene with him and Clark. It felt like a Superman movie to me, and thankfully didn't focus on spending too much time on the police and army people in the world reacting to his return.

All in all, Transformers was like that hot blonde you see in the bar. Pretty to look at, not a lot between the ears, and if you take away all the make-up and plastic, just not worth the effort.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The only thing I could agree on with the Transformers not having much personality would be in the decepticon area. The filler ones (like blackout, Bonecrusher, scorpinok) didn't seem to have anything except "Kill Kill Kill" but I think they spent enough time developing the autobots pretty well. Bumblebee especially, but even with the other autobots as well.

Though having Jazz as a stereotypical black man was a bit overboard. Still funny.

http://www.moviehole.net/news/200707...a_prequel.html

Apparently, they've gotten the voice actors back to do some work on a prequel feature for the Transformers DVDs, which will set up the storyline for the sequel (which should be out around Christmas).
