This or that?

If this thread is unacceptable to this area, feel free to close it. I wasn't really sure whether or not it was allowed anyway.

We all have games that we plan to get, maybe two or more... But at the moment, you have enough money for one of them... And you finally reach that point where you're confused whether or not you should buy this game or that game... I guess that's where this thread comes into play.

With this thread, you can post two games you might consider getting, and with the opinions of the people, they could help you decide which game to get and stuff.

You can also talk about previous such situations. which game you ended up chosing, why and whether you felt it was the right choice. Games don't have to be limited to two, either.

Right now, for myself, i'm stuck between...

Resident Evil: Deadly Silence (DS) and Mark Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure (PS2)

I hear both are really good, but i'm at a loss at which one I should get first. Has anyone tried either of these games and can give an honest to god opinion whether it's good or not?

Note:
You must put effort into your posts if you are to post in this thread. Whether it's telling about which two games you are about to buy, which games you had to choose between or advicing someone else on which game to buy, you have to put proper content into your post. Any post which only lists names and a nonexistent explanation will be deleted.

Explain your recommendations properly, elaborate on your purchase dilemma. Why these two games? Why would you choose one or the other? Why did you choose the game you did, what was better about it over the other ones? What good did the other ones have?

Discuss and contribute instead of just presenting your opinion without backing it up properly and then moving along.

Everybody's going to tell you to buy Resident Evil, I'm guessing.

But then again that's just predictable. I haven't played either, but ultimately it's your decision.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Mark Ecko's Getting Up, simply because it's an original game. I think the world has seen enough versions of the original Resident Evil on many different consoles.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

After having played (and reviewed) Ecko's Getting up, I'd very much like that you WOULDN'T buy it. It's really not very good. The graffiti element is not smart, only a tad boring. It's all about pulling the stick back and forth, which means it is a bit more complicated than Jet Set Radio Future. You can't make your own graffiti (A thing I was greatly saddened by).

I've read some reviews of Resident Evil, and neither was flattering. You could as well buy the PSOne original, as the DS didn't have any worthwhile new features.

If I were to decide, you should probably save your money or pick something completely different.

Either way, i'm still stuck between these two games... I could still use a couple more opinions... It would be appreciated.

If neither of the games tickle your fancy, is there maybe another game you could reccomend? Preferrably PS2 or DS?

Just got my Microsoft Xbox few days ago, and I had to decide to either get Halo or Halo 2. I got Halo 1 so I could understand the series better, and so far it is paying off.

Don't bother with Halo 2. You're better off playing Halo 1 again a few more times over. The only things better about Halo 2 are the visuals (which suffer from lag during fucking cutscenes), and multiplayer (but for that you might as well just pull out your N64 and play Perfect Dark instead).

Roughly everything you love about Halo 1 is changed for the worse in Halo 2. The weapons, the story, the vehicles, the presentation (the covenant speak english. Yeah, nice), everything. It's sad.

Chaotic, might I recommend Meteos for DS? That game will hook you for days. Also, have you played Castlevania or Trauma Center? Any of those will be better than RE.

I already own Meteos and Trauma Center. Meteos i'm on and off about, and in Trauma Center, i'm struggling on the First Sin mission. I was thinking about Castlevania, but then again. I've barely played the other games.

Well, as far as getting RE and Getting Up, I decided to hold them off for a while, or at least until my birthday. Then I could get money. So instead of buying either of those, I decided to get Tiger Woods 06 on the PS2. I was a fan of 04 and 05, and i've been debating whether or not I should've gotten it for this year since the ratings have dropped. Right now, it's not upsetting me. But what did I have to lose? The game is $24 (weird how at Gamestop, 05 still costs more. $2 to be exact.) and with the Gamestop More Card, it's another 10% off, so I only had to pay about $22. Not really that bad though.

I think you should just buy Ouendan. Getting Up and RE are kind of boring in my opinion. If you liked Disgaea you might want to hold off as the sequel will be out soon.

Good point. I picked up a used copy of Disgaea about a month ago. I loved the game.

As far as Ouendan is going... Maybe I can convince my parents to get it for me for my birthday. <_< They're going to have to ask me eventually. Anyone know where I might be able to get it cheap? I doubt Play-Asia will help me there.

RE on handheld? Isn't the point about survival horror the engrossing and forboding atmosphere? Can't say I can see a game like that being all that immersive when it's being squeezed out of small handheld screen while you're sitting in a fully lit train carriage.

I have two dilemmas actually. First part is RPG in the PS2:

Since I have Legendia and halfway through the Character Quests, I've been speculating what RPG to buy in terms of story, character development, battle system and eye candy. My two choices are Grandia III and Shadow Hearts 3. Now, I haven't played the past Grandia games and is interested in the third one since I've been hearing many good points about it. On the other hand, Shadow Hearts 3 because it's also what I've seen on Covenant. Quirky characters, awesome battle system and the judgement ring system are all awesome and are fun to deal with. Any recommendations?

Second is FPS:

Okay, Unreal Tournament 2007 is coming out leagues away. Being a good fan of the original UT release in 1999 and the recent in 2004 (No, I don't have 2003 sadly) due to the high-speed gameplay and just fun times I have with the multiple modes, I'm having a blast of a lifetime. At the same time however, games like Crysis or Enemy Territory also get my interest as much as 2007 does. Seeing the screens and looking good on paper, it has also caught my attention as well. Should I stick with 2007 or try out something new?

I could've added Supreme Commander, Medieval 2: Total War as well but they're just looming over the horizon and have yet to get my full attention.

Shadow Hearts... They finally have a nice concept attached and not making it in the whole OMG, it's teh mid-eval times. Grandia III has NO sidequests whatsoever.

As far as FPS's go, I can't really judge on them since I don't play alot of them.

Well, I have another one for all of you.

Pokemon games. You love them or hate them. I recently lost a copy of Fire Red and i'm planning to get another one...Thing is, which one?

Fire Red or Leaf Green.

I know both are exactly the same, but they each have their exclusives. Which one tops the other one? I'm thinking about Fire Red, but the exclusives seem better in Leaf Green. Also, don't bother reccomending Emerald, I have it already.

Can I get some input?

Wait for Diamond and Pearl on the DS. That's what I would do anyway, if I was still interested in those games (lost interest with all the different version they kept coming out with). But if you can't wait that long, I guess you should get Leaf Green, since your post made it sound better (plus, you already had the other one, so you might as well get a different one).

I don't have either FR/LG... I lost my Fire Red. <_<

Anyway, I would wait for Diamond and Pearl, but it hasn't even release in Japan yet, so I don't really have any hopes of it coming out sometime in the near future.

I'll probably go for Fire Red if all else fails... I don't like Venusaur anyway.

Get Fire Red, so both of us can trade Pokemon whenever we need a certain exclusive. How do you like them apples, hm?

Diamond and Pearl is releasing in Japan sometime in the summer, I'm guessing. A North American release should be later this year, I'm guessing Fall.

well, i'm strung a couple different directions here... so any help would be appreciated.
i'm tied between beatmania, kingdom hearts II, tales of legendia, magna carta and megaman x collection.

i've been around the predecessors for a while, so i have a familiarity of main gameplay but don't know anything about how they turned out/how long they'll last (save mmxcollection).

Beatmania - if haven't experienced it throughly yet. Bemani stuff always tend to be lots of fun with all the special controllers.

Kingdom Hearts 2 - I dislike the KH franchise so I'd say no, but that's me. Plus, everyone and their mom is likely to get KH2 soon, so you might as well borrow from a friend if possible.

Tales of Legendia - I wanted this so bad, but the desire faded away after 3 days for no apparent reason. See if waiting does anything for you and think about other beautiful options. Reviews influence me when looking at the gripes of the game (eg. Gamespot), so the mention of a different battle system, and character models turned me off after several thought sessions.

Magna Carta - I wanted this for a couple of days too, but heard the slot thing turned people off, as well as battles getting repetitive. Desire is gone, and I don't regret it.

Now if someone could help me, I'm fortunate to have stumbled here when this conflict has been on my mind for more than 3 days now:

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories - I don't even like this game, but I've done so much research on emulation already that I've downloaded everything needed to start it up and I just need GTA:LCS to complete my dream of accessing my RPGs on the go (ToP, Rudra no Hihou, RS3, CT, etc!). I'm getting a kick out of picturing finally having the time to play multiple rpgs and finish the ones I haven't completed.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 - I had not bought any version of SFA3 ever, within this decade. I loved Ingrid in CFE, and I would really really want to play her again, against more characters.

Me and My Katamari - More crazy fun. I keep hearing about how it's actually no problem to control, despite the buttons on the right hand side breaking from traditional rolling convention. Plus, it's one of those games that I can let anyone play on my PSP and they'll enjoy it for sure.

Tales of Eternia - I saw this at a Microplay and I was thinking "How is this out yet?" If it's a Japanese import version then this is definitely out of the question. I haven't ever played Tales of Destiny 2, although I've played several of the others Tales games.

Megaman Powered Up - I have a cute fetish, and I've never played Mega Man 1 before, although I've touched 7, 8, X, X2, and X3.

I was speaking idiomatically.

and to return the favor>>

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories - well, emulation at the cost of a game really doesnt matter in the long run (;^_^), i'm all for the rpg on-the-go motion

Street Fighter Alpha 3 (;>_>), not entirely keen on the fighting genre. though the fighter mood wouldn't particularly satisfy any intense game cravings, it would be good enough to keep what small chunks of free time i have covered (it's a different kind of gaming efficiency).can alpha 3 go online? if it could, i'm sure it would last a bit longer than just "whenever there was free time"

Me and My Katamari assuming that you have a (pair of) katamari game(s) already, maybe this might not be in your interest. too much of a unique taste can spoil the flavor. not to mention emulation possibilities being able to "keep friends entertained" possibly as well as this game...

Tales of Eternia Tales of Destiny 2 again? i've played it a little bit, and i prefer the changes they made to the battle system from tales of destiny. it has a better flow to it imo... it's still pretty solid. but i haven't heard anything about its release, so i couldn't confirm a region.

Megaman Powered Up if what i heard was true, there was supposed to be a level editor in this game so you could organize your own stages. i thought it was a fantastic idea. though... unless they made any changes to difficulty, it's bound to be a bit troublesome to play through. it also might lack a couple of the "fun" elements the later megaman games had, but this is solely based on the interpretation of this being a graphically enhanced port of MM1... i'm just not entirely sure this game would last as long as the others potentially could...

results
1.GTA (the possibilities of emulating games you haven't played is endless)
2.ToE (i thought this was a pretty solid game)
3.M&MK (katamari passes time rather smoothly. and you can always polish records)
4.SF3A (i don't know how long this game could last)
5.MMPU (the SD look is pretty crazy. but unless there's more depth than stage creation and the normal game, it might not be an early priority)

well... i hope my opinion helps

Whether or not it was a bad idea to revive this thread, I still need help anyway.

Black Friday is rolling around and despite what amazing deal there might be, i'm still stuck on deciding between two.

Digimon World DS (DS) or Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 4 (XBOX)?

I've heard good things about Digimon, but I haven't seen any sites review the game, making me unsure whether or not this is a good purchase. But regardless of reviews, I'd still get DDR Ultramix 4, but my dilemma is whether Digimon is a better game.

So can anyone give me some feedback on the two?

G'day y'all!

Anyways, with the Aussie Wii launch popping up soon, I wanna know from the opinions of those who've played the Ubisoft big-uns: Rayman and Red Steel.

Which one is better?

I've been having out for Red Steel but the reviews I've read so far have been unfavourable. Rayman is better, but is the "minigame game" worth getting?

I haven't played Red Steel yet, but if it looks interesting enough to you, go for it. I've personally played Rayman, but not for too long. The mini-games, however, are fun. If you need something to hold you over until Mario Party, this is it.
