I know I've had to re-wirte my prefered Shedinja moveset as Shadow Ball and Silver Wind are terrible now.
I hear that. My Slaking, Snorlax and Zangoose sets are now inferior for the same reason.

On the other hand, Gengar is now HIGHLY useable!

A shame the PokeTour never comes around here. I could do quite well.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Can you just trade me the eggs? I don't like names anyway and that way when they hatch they'll like me. I can breed my own for gender so that's not really an issue. And you don't have to do work hatching them.

I finally got onto the wi-fi and registered a friend code. So now I can do funky things like battle and trade. I'm not really looking for anything at the moment, though.

I could battle, but you'd be facing a team of level 100 ringers that I imported from my Ruby and Emerald games. I've got some Pokemon that are around level 60, enough for a battle, but I don't know how effective they'll be.

I managed to get some battling (thanks, miniface!) and breeding done today, and I'm fairly pleased with the results. I have a few spare Dragon Dancing Larvitars at my disposal for anybody willing to part with any of their spare TM51s or Lotads.

Please don't leave me in that cramped PC!

I also managed to get my hands on some other nifty stuff from my long-forgotten Pokemon Colosseum game like Cyndaquil and Totodile. I'll need some more time to free Bayleef from the clutches of evil or something before I'll be able to trade away that starter willy-nilly. Incidentally, Chaotic, I already got my hands on a Gligar. Sorry if you already caught one and planned on giving it to me. =(

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Nice to see alot of people eager to do battles. I'm available right now if anyone wants to fight =p.
To make things easier my FC is: 1246-5201-4026

Also, how does everyone feel about having a small tournament some time soon? If Elixir isn't going to start it I'm ok with spear-heading it. As for how we'll setup everything... I haven't thought about any specifics other than making it with the usual single-elimination brackets. So I suppose if there is any interest maybe we can start brainstorming now or maybe even make a seperate thread on it.

I'm in for a tournament but I'm no where near level 100. Most of my Pokemon are nearing 60 about now. Maybe different brackets for different level ranges?

I'd be up for any sort of tournament. I asked about this before, but I guess it got lost among the sea of trade comments.

There is an option to set the Vs. Battles so that every Pokemon entered is automatically set at a designated level, so there shouldn't be much of a problem with differing levels. However, having different brackets wouldn't be a bad idea. I can see the possibility of having different Cups like in the previous Pokemon Stadium games (i.e. Little Cup, Prime Cup, etc.).

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Hey thanks for trading IC, I appreciate it!

Yeah like IC said, you can pick a preset level before battling.
I'm fine with having different brackets for certain level ranges but if participation doesn't pick up then it simply won't work.

Oh yeah another thing. How does everyone feel about allowing legendary pokemon? I'm more or less against it. Why? A lot of them are overpowered. Especially Regigigas, Mew, Mewtwo, Kyogre, and Groudon. But if it comes down to a compromise I wouldn't mind making certain legendary pokemon allowed like Battle Tower's setup.

If anyone would like to have a Murkrow w/ Drill Peck (Believe me, I've got plenty!), I'm up for a trade. Honchkrow has some evil attack stats and Drill Peck only makes it nastier. I'll even attach a neat item to it. If you'd prefer to be the OT, I can send an Egg too. (I can make them by the dozens.)

I still need any of the following:

Skorupi
Turtwig
Chimchar
Shieldon
Glameow
Croagunk

Lucky Egg
Moon Stones
Any TMs above #50 that you're actually willing to part with.

Let me know if you're interested. I'm usually home in the afternoons and evening, Eastern time.

As for battling, I prefer informal battles, but tournaments are okay as long as people don't get all asinine. If you don't count Pokemon I transported from Ruby/Emerald, most of my regularly used fighters are around level 63. I'm slowly building myself a truly fightworthy Sinnoh Squad but that's gonna be a while, so I'll make do with the ragtag bunch I've got laying around.

I don't mind allowing some of the more uber Legendaries as long as they're not ungodly insane. Stuff like Articuno, Regirock, Metagross, Regice, Suicune, Mew, Entei, Jiraichi et al, those are fine. Jiraichi is actually pretty good.
It's when we get into the HOLYCRAP Pokemon like Kyogre, Lugia, Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Giratina and (eep!) Arceus, that I have reservations.
(If you actually have an Arceus, that's cool. I don't mind hacking as long as you're not giving your Pokemon impossible attack stats or illegal movesets.)

My caveat is that if you're going to use a Legendary, then you should be allowed no more than one on your team. This prevents Cloudiroth from mopping your Charizard all over the floor with his DEATH SQUADRON OF HOLY MOTHERFUCKING RAGE.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Well I'm hoping no one will act like a ass over a pokemon battle. From the people that I met here so far they've been a very good sport about battling anyway.

I hear you on the uber pokemon. I'm actually more worried about their particular movesets and abilities rather than their overall stats. Which by the way is higher than most pokemon you can raise.
Hm, I like that idea. Allowing one Legendary pokemon won't break the tournament, at least I don't think so. I just need to do more research on their movesets and stats before we make a final decision.

Go for it, I've been busy with some other stuff and didn't really know if people wanted to make a tournament anyway. It seems as if the hype has died down on the new pokemon games considerably so I didn't think it would happen.

Ah thanks.
Yeah the hype has died down a lot. I mean, only a few of us actually expressed interest for a tournament in the past 24 hours. So if I don't see a few more heads to count in another week or so we'll just casually battle on a specific date and perhaps chat (IRC sounds good?)

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

So does this mean Wobbuffet is legal? If so, then I'm going to raise one for this!

But yeah, I'm with Crash and Kairyu about the legendaries. Like, it'd be okay to have some (max of 1, maybe), but not the ones with crazy stats or whatever. Attack Form Deoxys with Extremespeed FTL. Actually, do moves like sucker punch go first?

I also don't know if I will partake in this, especially since I have some weird connection that loves to disconnect every five minutes.

edit: Actually, I don't know how good Wobbuffet is in these games, but it'd be nice to have some sort of clarification, otherwise...yeah.

Oh please no.

Wobbuffet still has an unfair set of stats, ability, and move pool. Also, the last thing any of us need right now is a Wobbuffet on Wobbuffet showdown to see who obtained the most PP Ups before somebody starts to Struggle.

If both Pokemon use a first strike move, then it depends on which one has the higher Speed rating.

Meh...a tournament means I have to catch Pokémon, breed them and have to go through the trouble of levelling them up, especially if it's going to have cups (I hate those). Of course, there's also the fact I can't even decide on my final team yet. Avenger isn't even going up to snuff so now I have to replace him. Also, I've pretty much stopped playing already due to other more addictive games (Simcity 3000, Phantasy Star IV), and newer games coming soon that are going to be addictive (SimCity DS, Tales of the World) which I will be spending my time on when I get my hands on them.

Sorry for complaining too much :(

I really don't see the broken potential in using one Wobbuffet... but with six in one team that could get a bit ridiculous (maybe bordering unfair) if all you use is mirror coat or counter.
After thinking about this some more the same can said for alot of other pokemon.

With the above situation in mind I decided to look around other places (forums) in how they setup their rules. So far I really agree with these collection of rules:

rules!:
~ No more than one of the same item held by your Pokemon.

~ No repeated Pokemon. For example, you're not allowed to use two Metagross' in your team.

~ Using cheat devices to maximize stats are not allowed. For example, Metagross's Max Attack is 405, its attack should not be over that mark.
(I'm not really sure how this will be enforced so I will just say I hope you guys have enough balls to not resort to that kind of asshattery.)

~ Seeing that there are some extremely powerful pokemon I've gathered a list of what pokemon are not allowed to be used in this tournament:
Mewtwo
Lugia
Ho-oh
Kyogre
Groudon
Rayquaza
Deoxys
Dialga
Palkia
Giratina
Darkrai
Arceus
(Wobbuffet?)

~ Recommended levels will be 50 to 100 (depending if we go with the "cup" styled tournament!)
These rules are not set in stone. But it's a good template to build from. If you (anyone) have any more suggestions then please say something!

Oh please no.

Oh... ew.
Well with that in mind maybe we should just put it on the "stay off of my lawn" list?

And yes, I've added that rule :3.
Who would want to battle six Blisseys or a combination of Shedinjas and Spiritombs?

Meh...a tournament means I have to catch Pokémon, breed them and have to go through the trouble of levelling them up, especially if it's going to have cups (I hate those). Wow you made participating in a small tournament sound like actual work! This isn't the Olympics you know =p. I think you're just putting too much thought into making the perfect team. If we nix all the crazy strong pokemon then there shouldn't be a perfect team. Just about every pokemon has a weakness or huge disadvantage no matter how well you try to cover it up.
If you want to put in 100% in making the best team you ever envisioned then great! But not all of us has time to devote that kind of preperation, that's understandable. I simply don't think that can actually stop anyone from making a formidable team, certainly not me! Also, leveling up shouldn't be a problem either. We can all use a set level if it'll make things easier to manage. I'd worry more about what moves you plan to use!

Additional Spam:

Oh wow, nice find =O

I have no clue how accurate that tier list is but from what I can see I pretty much agree with the top three tiers. I'll have to look into this a bit more! Thanks.

one more edit: I think this is the UPDATED TIER LIST.

I'm surprised that I forgot to mention Wobbuffet. That thing is truly unfair. There's a reason I named mine "Bodybag". Wobbuffet is banned in most tournaments.

Every Wobbuffet has just about the same moveset and its ability, Shadow Tag, prevents a bored combatant from switching out, even during the mirror match. It's just a time waster that unimaginative jerks like to throw into battles because it's basically a free KO in anything but the mirror match.

At least there are ways to counteract a Shedinja or Spiritomb. Not a ton, but they exist. Against a Wobbuffet, you're cooked. It'll Mirror Coat or Counter you, then apply a Destiny Bond until you relent and let it kill your Pokemon. Wobbuffet is absolutely no fun.

There's also a rule known as "Sleep Clause". I think it means that you can't tr to put more than one of the opponent's Pokemon to sleep at a time. If the sleeping Pokemon is K.O.d, then you're allowed to use a Sleep inducer again, but not until. (If it happens through incidental means, like Effect Spore, that's acceptable.) It's kind of a gentleman's arrangement, from my understanding. You adhere, expecting the opponent to not violate the pact as well.

EDIT: Tiers are nice and all, purely for reference's sake, but I've never been one to stack my team full of overused Pokemon just because it means I'm gonna shred the competition. When I say I prefer casual battles, I mean that I like adding a bit of variety to my team. Maybe Zangoose isn't high up on some peoples' lists but that doesn't mean it's worthless. I'd rather use Pokemon that I personally think are nifty than obsess over which team is going to grant the highest percentage of victory. I do train my Pokemon to be competitive, so rest assured, it's gonna be one hell of a Zangoose. Still, I get tired of seeing nothing but Gyarados, Tyranitar and Alakazam during battle. Yes, I'll use them at times but I'll also throw Lapras, Cacturne or Ninetales out if I think it'll make things interesting.

Tiers are for scrubs.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I just wanted to point out the Wobbuffet deal. I don't actually know, but I'm guessing at one point Wobbuffet was crazily good, which was why I mentioned it. I'm probably not going to train one because it would take way too long for me to get the desired stats and stuff...plus I have a huge backlog of games I need to play (which I'll never get around to).

I didn't mean to sound like an idiot.
