I can't se why they would in the first place. Their urge to reproduce was shot to shit during their augmentation. Unless it's a clever experiment by ONI. Is a Spartan capable of reproducing and what is the effect on the offspring. Tiny Spartans? I'd like to see that!

I hate seeing this thread bumped down by fricking Super Smash Brothers, so I dug up* these hilarious korean promotion videos. They got the idea that if you freak out innocent bypassers, they're sure to buy Halo 3!
The second one has Master Chief fucking PUNCHING a dinosaur in the bloody face!
* Spoiler:
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
Just saw the second one on Kotaku. Brilliant! They should do this everywhere. It certainly wouldn't hurt doing this in Japan to help 360 sales a bit.

Funny stuff, this game comes out this month right?
I would have expected this topic to be at the top of the forum. Anyone know if they've included any stats this time around? shot accuracy etc. Most amazing jew boots |
Hmm, dunno. What I do know, however, is that I'm going to participate in a review event this thursday. This should hopefully answer all questions. For me, at any rate...

If any of you assholes still has Halo 2 and has either myself, Devo or Tube on your list we're playing H2 up until the release of the third to get ready. Just send us a message if you see us on and we'll throw you in.
Despite the fact that it sucks and the people on it are 'tards playing with Devo and Tube has been a blast. We even got Kairyu to join last night (lawl team furry) for the lulz. Unfortunately Tube, Devo and Kai are apparently better than everyone else on the planet, which was kind of good considering I'm garbage. Did nothing but run around and shout obscenities and laugh like a maniac when I got an occasional kill. Still fun nonetheless. Not sure how far the range of proximity voice extends but I trailed behind Devo most of the night, I'm sure she could attest to my hilarious adventures. Join in for some elbow action before the true sequel to H1 gets released. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() #654: Braixen |

Am I the only one who thinks Halo 3 is WAY overhyped? I think the Halo series are some great first person shooters, but for the Halo 3 to be considered the most anticipated game EVER is insane to me. I can name dozens and dozens of games I have been way more excited to play than a Halo game and are much better games overall than Halo to me.
Like I said, the Halo series is great, and I have my copy of Halo 3 paid for and I'll be playing next week. But the way it is hyped, one would think Halo 3 will be the greatest game ever made and it is god's gift to video games. Frankly, I think MANY people are going to be disappointed, regardless of how good it is because so many people think so damn highly of it before even playing it. To me, it is just one more good video game. I am looking forward to playing it, but the insane level of hype needs to end because it is not warranted at all. Jam it back in, in the dark. |

Secondly, I'm talking about the Single Player game mostly. Halo 2 was way overhyped too, and at that point, the only thing people really had to be excited over was a sequel to Halo 1 which is single player only except of the PC version which not nearly as many people played. So the beta really means nothing. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
You're right! How could I be so blind as to assume that the beta in which I partook was in any way a representation of the final product? Man, I enjoyed that beta, but all the fun I had is moot. I have garnered no information as to how this game will play, at all! Nope, none. Why, after the beta was done, they probably threw out the entire project and started coding again from scratch. Nothing will be at all similar, nope.
Crunchy, you wanna know why we don't use this thread? Motherfucking rocket scientists like this kid here. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |

I am talking about the Hype around the game. The Beta has nothing to do with the hype. Just as many people would be buying the game if there was no public beta. That's a fact. Halo 2 didn't have a public beta as far as I know and it was overhyped too. Jesus Christ! I do feel like a fucking rocket scientist. And you are right, Devoxycontin. What I meant to say was Offline, in relation to Online. I was speaking idiomatically.

To assume that the public play-test didn't add to the hype surrounding this title is quite stupid. Tell me, oh smart one, what promotional materials and methods do create positive hype for a product, and which do not.
Protip: I actually might not have bought the final game if I didn't play the beta. I really didn't like H2 at all, y'know. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

Ok, you're right, maybe the million people who played the beta, never heard of Halo and obviously had no intension of buying it, and just happened to somehow mistakenly signed up for the beta and played it and that is the reason they will now buy the game....
Back to reality... 99.9999999% of the people who played the beta have heard of Halo 3 and were going to buy it anyway, genius. FELIPE NO |
I don't recall Skills saying he hadn't heard of Halo 3. I believe his words were more to the effect that he didn't like Halo 2. Now I'm no expert, but someone who played Halo 2, unless suffering amnesia (in which case how would they remember not liking it), will know about Halo 3. In fact I'd be surprised if there's many people, certainly gamers, who aren't at least a little bit aware of Halo 3. Please kindly stop and actually read what people are writing before you ill-advisedly let your fingers attack your keyboard next.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Do you have no concept of anything other than absolutes? To assume it's all or nothing really does nothing for your case, sonny.
Also, why did Microsoft even bother advertising this game? Why the ARG? Why the action figures, the IMAX demo, the trailers, the Mountain Dew, the Pontiac thing, or any of that stuff? None of these hype the game at all, everyone was gonna buy it anyway after all, right? How ya doing, buddy? |
Chocobo |
Who is Skills? Look, my point is, for the last time, is almost all of the people who went though the trouble to sign up for the beta were obviously fans of the series and were VERY likely to buy the game regardless of if there was a beta or not. If the beta had any effect on the hype, it is very minimal, and very likely means nothing to the sales the game will get. Most amazing jew boots

Even people who didn't participate in the beta had friends that did or at least heard of the beta and peoples' (mostly positive) impressions. Any publicity just adds to the hypedness.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I'd be Skills. I have a different username right now.
That said, you clearly have no idea of how the beta was distributed. Most players got in through Crackdown, an excellent game in it's own right that was not always purchased just so people could get into the thing months down the line. (Although that did happen.) There was no trouble being gone through here, and for many, it was a bonus. Secondly, those that did get in would spread the word to those that didn't, again, generating hype! Who'd have thunk that, eh'? We get it though, you're right. The beta, it didn't do anything. Totally useless. Didn't change a thing, right, right. It has zero net effect on any of the potential interest in the title. Betcha this Call of Duty 4 beta going on right now also isn't hyping that game up, or the TF2 thing that's starting soon is also useless, or any other playable demonstration or beta of any game whatsoever doesn't help it at all, especially if it's really well recieved. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I thought beta actually dropped the amount of hype around it. But, now that it's September, I've been hearing about it a lot throughout my university's campus. Mostly, "I' skipping class from Wednesday on" and "This shit is not good for my GPA." I think the biggest hype will come the week after the game comes out, due to the "omg-where-are-you-in-halo-3" or "let's do slayer with the guys after you finish class" talk going everywhere, especially with the frat guys.
Maybe that's just the atmosphere around my area though. I am noticing the hype around CoD4 though. Mostly because people didn't know the Call of Duty series was even out there. Learning about something new definitely makes it more "hypeworthy" because it makes you seem neat and original and that sort of shit. People have been waiting for TF2 for years though. It's kind of like Duke Nukem Forever. That hype goes in cycles. I was speaking idiomatically.

Frankly, Halo, to me, is all about the single player experience. Multiplayer is secondary. All I wanted to know is Halo 3 really deserving of the hype. I don't really care about what caused the hype. Halo = great series, yes. Halo 3 Hype = PHENOMENALLY UNBELIEVABLY GREAT, BEST GAME EVER MADE. The hype is not warranted in my opinion. You said it yourself. Halo 2 was a disappointment. So you can't possible feel that the amount is hype is equal to the quality game. That would be nuts. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I'll give you that I don't think it'll be the greatest thing of all time, ever made, in all the universe, etc, but I never had an issue with that statement in the first place. Recall where and about what I initially confronted you and you'll see exactly what I took issue with.
*shrug* How ya doing, buddy? |
Intro and ending both are leaked on net.
Here is summary for whole story if you like Grunts R Us any thoughts about story? I think they deviated from novels. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
They deviated from the novels? How?
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Will do. However, I'm still under a NDA, so I can't discuss the plot in any way. I just wanted to hear how the plot deviates from the books, seeing as the books hasn't described what happens with Chief after Halo 2. Perhaps Sexninja talks about Ghosts of Onyx?
