GFF Cookbook

May 27: Project closed.

May 23: Post in here if you're interested in this happening. If I don't see a number of posts I will close the thread and drop the project.

GFF Cookbook

The Idea: We want to have the best damn cookbook out there. Filled with the best recipes from around the world. We can remove bad recipes, and suggest improvements to any existing ones.

The Accomplishment: Here's the hard part. To really have a good cookbook we'll need to have everyone's best recipes. If it's really a family secret that you absolutely refuse to share then ok, but the GFF cookbook will be just that much more mediocre without it. Also, everyone needs to contribute. I plan on doing my share, will you?

Recipe Form:This is my suggestion as to the form for submiting recipes.

Name:
Preparation time:
Amount prepared (usually given in servings):
-----------
Ingredients:
Directions:
[Variations:]
Notes:

Variations is an optional category obviously.

Recipe testing: Now we'll also need a few people to test out the recipe before we add it into the cookbook. So we'll need people who are good cooks and have good tastes who will try out some recipes as they come along.

Organization: I think the recipes should be organized into a pretty standard organization. Additional areas will be added as needed, but to begin with we'll have drinks, appetizers, soups, salads, main dishes, and desserts.

Now I need suggestions for improvements from everyone. I will update as needed.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I want to suggest a sticky thread (or subforum[!] like the Gaming section) with only the actual recipes in it, so they don't get lost in the discussion of this thread.

I will post a recipe from the family cookbook to share.. tomorrow, when people are awake. :/

Spoiler:
Thanks for taking on the task.

Good idea, it just might work. Here are my suggestions:

I would prefer a subforum before a sticky thread. That way you can separate the general food discussion from the recipies' discussion.

The subforum could be built as follows:

Threads divided into categories and a separate thread for "discussion", "testing" and maybe one for "cookbook improvements". As suggested by Giro0001, the categories could be "appetizers", "soups", "salads", "main dishes", and "desserts". I also suggest that we include the category "Drinks".

Moreover, I suggest that all of these threads are to be sticky ones and that the moderators remove the ability to create new threads in this section.

Threads, example:

[Recipe discussion] - Discussion and recipe suggestions.

[Recipe testing grounds] - Reviews, results and improvement of recipes.

[Cookbook improvements] - Suggestions for structural improvements of the subforum

-------------------------------

[Appetizers]

[Soups]

[Salads]

[Main dishes]

[Desserts]

[Drinks]

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I was actually considering the idea of 1 thread per recipe. Then after someone submits the recipe and someone tries it out and has good results it can head into the actual cookbook which will be kept as a rtf file.

Can't believe i forgot drinks.

Edit: Post in here if you're interested in this happening. If I don't see a number of posts I will close the thread and drop the project.

Edit: I will not be doing this due to lack of interest.
