So I take it the actress and her diamond stealing boyfriend wont be coming back.
I would say so, but that hasn't stopped them bringing back the likes of Boune and Shannon now, has it?

I guess the episode was okay. I've nothing much to say about it. Except, where the bloody hell have they all gone, and why take Locke with them.

one word sums up this episode 'Bitch!'

I'd got worried after seeing last weeks episode, Kate is so boring, I really don't care. So I take it the actress and her diamond stealing boyfriend wont be coming back.
There are a lot of idiots on this island. Kate is definitely one of them. But don't forget about Jack. Wow, what a jack-ass he has become, I can't believe it. Has he ever laughed in the last few episodes? What an idiot.

Yeah, I completely agree with you about Jack. He has now become as emotional as a block of wood and his behavior is also really predictable now. He always uses that one facial expression to justify everything he does as well. At least before he had some personality and emotion with his anger towards the others keeping him prisoner. (see beggining of series 3).

Now, he really does seem Lost.

Also, at the beggining of the series (1 and 2) he has always assumed this heroic leader of the group. His decision of trying to leave the Island without any of the group is strange and slightly contradictory. However, I have recently discovered that this is partly due to being heartbroken with the Kate/Sawyer intimacy.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hehe, that's a good word game

Anyway, yeah, in the first season, he was pretty cool, I liked him very much. Then I started to like John Locke a lot more, he's still my favorite character. Mikhail was even better, but those faggots killed him. Oh well.

To me, this episode made me really think that this Jacob fellow is Christian. If Ben was telling the truth about Rachel's cancer being cured then Christian would be in an ideal position to get this mystical cure to her. Furthermore, he could have found out about Sawyer killing that man as they were both in Australia at the time and it's not inconceivable to assume he followed Sawyer or found out by some other means. Furthermore, the finale is supposedly another Jack flashback (ugh), so, it's likely that Christian will appear. Finally, he seems to have met most of the Losties or have some connection to them. For any other show, I'd probably explain it as some kind of nice little connection that is a conincidence, but with Lost I'm not so sure.

I know it'll never happen, but they really are setting up the death of Jack's character. They've slowly given Sawyer more power over the camp, and Jack's leadership has come into question. If they wanted to, the writers could do this now more than any other time.

If they settle the storyline with his father in the season finale, they could very well kill him off or have him MIA for quite a bit in the series. I love Jack, but I think it would make for great TV to kill off the main character. It would be quite a twist

I don't think there would be much backlash if they pull it off correctly.

That's what I thought, too. I think they are setting up a fight between Jack and Sawyer or maybe Sayed or whoever. Jack will lose his influence because he trusted Juliette which was a mistake (I guess).

A point to ponder...

Ben said he was born on the island a couple episodes back. But in this new episode... We learned that all of the pregnant women on the island died before they could give birth. So... how can that be?

Also, in the Nikki and Paolo episode, we saw them being buried alive. We know that the spider's poison wears off after roughly eight hours, and that Nikki opened her eyes just as dirt was tossed over her face. If you look though... The 'grave' is only like, a foot deep. And the paralysis was wearing off... I mean. I'm glad they're 'gone', but it doesn't seem like they should be dead after that.

It doesn't matter how deep the grave is, because a person cannot breathe while having lungs full of earth. Additionally, she wouldn't exactly be at full digging (or even moving) capacity after just having been paralyzed for eight hours. She was shown opening her eyes only for the dramatic effect.

Also, they were basically killed off because everyone hated them, so I very much doubt they would be brought back as a plot point.

I am really glad they are dead as well - nasty people. However that type of death still makes me feel a bit sick.

Regarding Jack and Sawyer, I was quite supreised to see them evolve a handshake into a short lived friendly embrace, after all the fueds they have had. haha

I've thought about Ben and Alex's birth, and I can only assume that the death of pregnant women on the island was a recent problem when they hired Juliette. Perhaps a backlash of their attempt at changing the Valenzetti Equation?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, but sooner or later, one of those two has to go, since the island is not big enough for two leaders of their caliber.

Well here's hoping it's Jack. Seriously, his character's stale as old bread. Furthermore, when was the last time anyone was seriously injured or really needed Jack's help? Sure, Nikki and Paulo might be still alive if Jack was there, but that's negative, not positive. I think the survivors have, in a way, outgrown Jack. While he was gone, the survivors carried on perfectly well without him. Then he comes back with an Other at his tail. This Juliette stunt has really damaged him leader role and hopefully that'll continue.

Jin's ghost story was, hands down, the best moment of Catch-22.

I'm not even going to touch the Superman Vs. The Flash discussion. That has red herring written all over it.

So I'm guessing with the introduction of this new character that they are going to (finally) address the last moments of the season 2 finale this season. Hopefully they hired a good actress. Don't need another Nikki or Alex running around.

Loved the Jin ghost story, anyone got a translation??

I'm really glad they gave more insight into Desmond, really interesting back story.

So who's the new chick, your theories??

I don't have a vast amount of nerd knowledge about the subject, but I'll try and sum it up.

Some are theorizing that the references to Superman and The Flash's super speed abilities are clues to the whole alternate reality or "another world" type explanation on where (or when) the survivors are at. I think the Flash was able to travel to other dimensions because of his speed as well as time travel, and I think most people are aware of Superman's capability to travel through time too.

Then there was that small reference that Hurley made to Sayid in season 2 when they used the radio from the tail section. Sayid said something like the transmission can be coming from anywhere in which Hurley replied "or anytime." Then in the last episode Richard made a reference to Juliette around the lines of time will fly by when you're on the island.

As for the new character, considering that the Catch-22 book was Portuguese and the two guys in the arctic were speaking Portuguese, more than likely Penny sent her to find Desmond.

This is actually a big moment for the show. Very interested to see how it unfolds.

The superman vs Flash debate has been going thru ages now, they even tried to make then race a few times, always ended in a tie because of a random dissaster.

But anyway, the helicopter chick is definitely related to Desmond somehow, 'cause unless I'm hearing wrong, she clearly speaks his name right after he removes her helmet, so we can pretty much assume she was sent by Penny.

By the way, anyone know the release dates of Lost on EZTV? my cable got cuttout for the time being...

Usually EZTV will release the HDTV within a couple hours of the Canadian airing, sometimes I can even download the episode at 10pm EST. If you're waiting for the HR or 720p versions, usually a couple hours after that. I usually grab the HR version around 1am or so, if I'm still awake.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread yet, but Lost now has a definite end in sight.

There was an article in today's paper about the duration of Lost. There will be three more season, with the season finale being in spring 2010. They will be shortened seasons, lasting only 16 episodes and airing uniterrupted from February to May. I guess this is to appease all of the people who hated the months of gaps between new episodes.

So, what do you guys think of Lost now having a definite timetable. Will it help set the plot in a definite direction now, as opposed to the seemingly aimless wandering that it has been for most of the season? Or will it help foster better discussion, now that we know that there is a countdown put on the episodes?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I think that's okay. I don't want it to go on for ten more seasons, because let's be honest: it's pretty hard to beat the first or maybe the first two seasons. LOST is getting a bit boring, I have become much more addicted to Heroes, but it's still watchable. It's not like I considered stopping watching (gr?) it, really.

48 episodes is a bit too much in my opinion, it already feels like it has been dragging on, and especially the flashbacks can't be called GREAT as they were in the previous seasons (the Hurley one was just awful, although I still like the ones for Juliet and the Koreans). The only thing that I can hope is that now with a definite ending in sight, they can finally start decideing were they want to go, and they will add some balance in the episodes.

I'm glad they set an end date, but I liked it better when it was rumored to be 48 episodes spread over two years instead of three.

I just don't get why they would want to make a season only 16 episode long.

Maybe they are running out of ideas. Or maybe they already know where it is they are going with this, and aren't making it up as they go along, and have decided that they the story would fit better compressed into 3 sets of 16 rather than 2 lots of 24.

So that means we have approximately 50 episodes left!! Will we get all the answers that we want and need?
