I'll go out on a complete limb and guess Tales From Earthsea. It's recent and reminds me of a Ghibli-esque background.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

That's a terrible reason for a guess. Where there any jagged mountains like that surrounded by forest that really stood out in Zero no Tsukaima?

looks like it's from DN Angel, but that was a while back. I think that's where Towa comes in and the first pic is the scene of the town.

Something about the style looks like Black Blood Brothers. But never seeing it outside of screen shots, it could very well be another one.

Yep, it's Eliade, and the manga is superior to the show which has put in several fillers for some reason already :S

Yep, it's a good show. I haven't seen too much of the anime mainly because of the damn fillers! The manga is way better and I have been keeping up with that.
