Starcraft, Sam & Max, Discworld, Diablo 2, any Terry Pratchet material, possibly the original Dungeon Keeper for old time's sake.
That's all that you really need. Why this topic is in PC Gaming I don't know, but those are the only really worthwhile games on PC you're going to find. I would specifically like to point out Starcraft. Starcraft has Use Map Settings mode, or UMS for short, which basically allows you to create your own and play your own(and others) custom maps. It's entirely for fun. Cat & Mouse, Bounds, Evolves, Golems, all that. They're popular names from a Blizzard game which users made, and are continuing to make. Great replayability. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Baldur's Gate 2 is kewl...the number of quests just piles up until you get used it...
The Masquarade: Bloodlines is alright except it can get a bit repetitive... Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic I and II....the first skill I always get it force shock..bwahahaha...the first kotor's story (for me) is better than the second..but the character growth is much better in the second. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() from the makers of Death Note!! Bakuman. Am happy..because AgitoXIII and Parasite Eve 3 is a comin to the PSP!! |

MMORPG: Dark Age of Camelot
Not at all difficult to level up, anymore; Best PvP system in an MMO to date (Realm vs. Realm vs. Realm), still a solid player base. FPS: Battlefield 2, Quake4 Battlefield 2 is just down-right entertaining to play. Can be quick paced or slow paced depending on your play-style. Quake4 brings a classic Deathmatch-y feel to a modern game in a very fun way. RTS: There's so many out right now... Star Wars: Empire at War, LotR:Battle for Middle-Earth 2, Command and Conquer Generals SW:EaW brings everything you'd expect to see in a good Star Wars RTS; Space battles, land battles, conquering a galazy, etc. Plus you can control Vader. And Vader is good. BFME2, again, is everythin'g you'd want in a LotR RTS. The graphics, the atmoshpere, it's all superb C&C:G is just a very traditional-yet-awesome C&C game with fun, fast 3d graphics to back it up Sports: New Star Soccer 3 (http://www.newstarsoccer.com) Not sure this is a well-known game, but it's ridiculously entertaining for what it is. A 2d, single-player, soccer simulation. You manage 1 player through his entire career, get him signed in almost any team/league/nation you so desire. A lot of options packed into a fun shareware game that's finally worth the $20 RPG: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion It isn't quite out, yet (goddamn you, Bethesda!!!!), but I already know that I will be losing MANY hours of sleep to this game. Open-ended free-roaming RPG if there ever was one. Comes with a fairly simple to use Editor of it's own. So go ahead, make your own continent. It isn't that hard ![]() Im tired of typing now... These, of course, are all IMO. ![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Some good freeware games:
Warning Forever, vector based ship combat game, quite addictive and very challenging. GlTron, lets you race with the light cycles, not much more to say. They're both free and fun to play, give both a good try. Most amazing jew boots |
I'd check out Freedom Force or Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich. Once you except the halarious presentation of the game as a form of storytelling of it's own, they can be two of the most fun games you'll ever play. I have played through both of them a couple time's already and I never once felt bored.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I'm bumping this old-ass thread. -_-;;
Okay, so my bro wants a good recommendation for a PC RPG. He says it can be an MMO if need be, but it has to have a very strong story. Also, if it is an MMO, he doesn't want to pay a monthly subscription; he only wants to pay one time. He would prefer that the game is fairly old (a couple years old at least), as he wants the game to be able to run on an old computer. Finally, the single player has to be playable online, if the game is not an MMO; that is to say, he wants to be able to play the single player with another player cooperatively over the net. So...does any game like that exist out there? Ever? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Xbox: Kingdom Under Fire (series)
The game is something like Dynasty Warriors, only (IMO) much better. It's not just crazy hack-and-slash but there's a good amount of strategy mixed in there as well. Also, you control several groups of armies (usually 3-4). I really enjoyed the first one alot. Second one had a level that I couldn't beat for some reason. Learning curve is a bit steep, so prepare to spend a little bit time how to maximize control over your army. Overall, great game even though the campaigns were a tad short. edit. Doh, *PC* games, just noticed. Well, I can still recommend Starcraft: Broodwar (been playing for years and still play today). DEFCON is also worth checking out for some nuclear warfare. Great little strategy game to play with friends during class. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Hmmm, well for your friend Max Biggs, uh the first few games that come to mind would be Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate Saga [1,2 etc], Guild Wars... [although the story isn't as strong as what BG2 or what you might find in NWN]
If you go the NWN route, you'll need to look up what's the best or the most fun thing to play; I never got into it but there is a ton of custom content that rivals sweet commercial games [the story that comes with the game is kinda blah]... If you go the Baldur's Gate route, you can get BG1 with Tales of the Sword Coast and BG2 with ToB; then look up the mods, like Baldur's Gate Trilogy or Tutu with BG1NPC, and Banter pack for BG2, etc and you'll be blown away at the quality of the story... [although personally I never got into playing it multiplayer] was too into doing that singleplayer... Guild Wars has a decent story but you probably won't be attached for too long lol but it has pretty good cooperative multiplayer! Those are all mostly 3rd person games... A while back I heard that Vampire the Mascarade was supposed to be really good and multiplayer, although I never tried it... If you like vampires~! Diablo 2 is shallow on story but classic on gameplay... My personal reccomendations for really sweet games to play would be : Baldur's Gate Saga - Not only was it a game of the year out of the box, but modders have added professional custom content to turn the great story into an excellent one~! But, you'll have to research what to add on... Morrowind and Oblivion - I haven't tried Oblivion, but Morrowind has an ABSOLUTE ton of amazing custom content, and those that get bored with Oblivion quickly find themselves back in Morrowind~! The original game is dated, but add custom content and you'll be overwhelmed. Trust me lol Ever17 - It's a Visual Novel, basically after you've played so many games after so many years you might be itching for something else... For me, this is it~! It's an excellent story told in anime format that you go through like a novel, and make choices along the way... It's more like an electronic book; longer than most anime series, but you get to affect the events that transpire... It doesn't cost much and I'm obsessed now ![]() Cave Story - It's a freeware retro platfromer game~! It has a style that has many people calling it one of the best freeware games out there~! You'll most likely have a blast with this strange game ![]() Wing Commander 3 and 4 - These were priceless games, if they had been movies they'd been great successes... [unlike the weird teen spinoff Wing Commander movie] Flight simulators with choose the outcome choices... Live actors like Mark Hamil doing a great job. Good stuff, it really deserves a high def restoration lol Loom cd, Monkey Island cd, The Longest Journey - all great adventure games, you'll find reasons to love em :P Games keep churning out, but you'll be hard pressed to find ones that stay with you, these are just a few that have with me..! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I need another good RPG. All I know of is Final Fantasy and Zelda. I know there are more but I don't wanna waste money. Exclude all Square Enix games, I'm aware of them. Can anyone recommend a good RPG with a good Story?
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
For you, Rayne? It would have to be something with low levels of reading comprehension, you fucking schmuck. Look at what forum you're in, kid. PC gaming. Not console. Get out.

I'd go with 3 games for now.
1. Unreal Tournament '99 - It was fun back then and it is still now. Fast-paced gameplay without high-end specs. The music is awesome too; one of the best VGMs I have ever heard, hands down. 2. Deus Ex - This has been elaborated already so I'll cut mine short (with some ties-in to the long post): Great story, interesting characters and a great soundtrack as well. Similar to this one would be System Shock (although of a horror genre; see next game below - SS is also great). 3. Clive Barker's Undying - This game is solely singleplayer so don't expect too much. Then again, the story unfolds well and there's a lot of character development. It's horror - best when played lights out. The devs actually thought of making a multiplayer for this game but seeing as the game got low sales, it was abandoned. Still a great game for those who are into horror. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
I've been playing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines lately, and it does its setting about as well as any RPG I've seen. It does get repetitive, but it's still fun in an odd way.
Speaking of Heroes of Might and Magic, is HoMM V any good? I've been pretty behind when it comes to playing newer PC games. Most amazing jew boots
~The RPG Duelling League~, where your favorite RPG characters beat the snot out of each other.

I am currently playing a free-to-play MMORPG that I think is a lot of fun. The game is called Corum Online and it was one of the top games in Korea and Japan over the last couple of years. It was finally brought to the US by a company called GPotato. I have been playing the game since the Closed Beta started in January. It has a very unique PvP system where you fight with other people/guilds over the possession of siege dungeons that are scattered throughout the world of Corum. You get rewards for maintaining the control of dungeons. You can also create rare items in the game including amazing looking guardians that are like pets. I would recommend that you check it out!

Epic bump.
I'm just wondering if there are any good PC games that are similar to Ace Combat, or any flight/combat simulators. I can't get enough of the Jet and Helicopter gameplay in the Battlefield series. Recommendation's? There's nowhere I can't reach. Mario Kart DS: 498293-921939____ Star Fox Command: 155-576-696-451____ Metroid Prime Hunters: 4854-1233-4943____ Final Fantasy III: 506891214495____ Xfire: freuser____ Steam: Free.User____ |
Any combat simlulators? IL-2 Sturmovik.

Maybe the russian "Lock On" ?
See here! They're going to release a very interesting new game soon, which is going to be very Kasatka and graphic processor's death: See there! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
If you can get them to run on a modern PC, Gunship 2000 and Strike Commander are two of the greatest flight-sims/combat games ever crafted by human kind. Gunship 2000 is a helicopter sim that has you starting off solo but graduating up to leading a flight of upto five choppers. The level of tactical depth is great, allowing you to send one of your squad mates in a scout helicopter to target the enemy from the brow of a hill whilst you and the others sit back in complete safety behind the hill firing hellfire missiles round the side of it using their lock-on. It looks rather dated now but it's helluva fun.
Strike Commander is a flight sim with a story. You're the commander of a group of mercenaries and as well as blowing shit up, you have to balance the books so do you save money and try to take out the base with unguided bombs or blow the budget on Mavericks and wipe it off the face of the planet from 20 miles away? The dog fighting is wicked cool too and with all the detail effects turned up full, it looks comparable to a PS1 game. Of course if you own a PS1 you should play Colony Wars. It's fucking difficult but a great space shooter. Oh yeah, and G-Police. Edit: Oh yeah, everyone who owns a PC should play Master of Orion. It's like Civilisation in space only not nearly as gay. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() ![]()

I've been playing Master of Orion 3 for the last few months (yeah still on my first match) and i can second Shin's recomendation. It made me forget about Civilization in a hurry.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
^ Strikes me as rather funny, considering original Orion players have convinced themselves that #3 never happened.
FELIPE NO |
I never played MoO3 but I fucking loved the first two. The addition of multiplayer in the second made it dangerously easy to waste entire weeks at university...
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() ![]() |
I've never played 1 or 2, but i found MoO3 in a bargain bin for 5 bucks, and after never having heard of the series, played it, and loved it. Take that as you will.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Now you've made me eying expensive yokes and throttles, damn you!
