My collection is extremely meek with only Invader Zim (Volumes 1-3) being the only TV shows I have on DVD. I have too little money (and too much of a high speed connection to got to waste ) to worry myself about spending more than $20 on a DVD.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I would have never seen Firefly (scary thought!) or Dark Angel if not for tv on dvd. Although it can be very dangerous...I once watch 49.5 hours of Star Trek: Voyager in one week. No shit.

Double Post:....oh FINE. Guess I should read and not skim the opening post. heheheh. Bolded/star ones are my favorites.

Could you tell us a little more about your collection (like your favorites, etc.), as I mentioned in the first post that there should be more than just a list.

Did anyone pick up Sleeper Cell this week? I heard this show is supposed to be good (some people even say better than 24, but I doubt that), and I was actually considering getting it. The only reason I didn't is because I don't have any cash at the moment. Even when I do get some money though, is this worth picking up now, especially over other releases that are coming out soon that I wanna get (mainly Robot Chicken season 1, Over There, Mind of Mencia saeson 1 Uncensored, and the recently released Newsradio season 3), or should I wait for a sale or a price drop?

I only bought the T.V series of "Wonderfalls".
It's great, it's about a girl suddenly hearing puppets talking to her. It's very funny.

... I'm hoping to record more though with my new DVD recorder.

I like to have TV shows on DVDs but as they are a lot more expensive than movies I try to control myself.

My originals are:
Band of Brother, I could not see it on TV because I did not have HBO, so when I had a bit more of money left I decided to buy it (I trust Spilberg)
Friends Season 1, I though I would end up buying all of it, but once again I realised it would be too expensive.

My Copies:
Friends Season 2
24 Season 1, my favorite show by far, when I get the chance I'll copy the other season, If I start working in the proccess, I'll buy originals.

Yes, purchasing TV shows on DVDs is an expensive practice.

I find that a sometimes a little patience goes a long way in terms collecting boxsets for an entire TV series. You can often find great deals if you wait a little while, and look for deals and sales especially at around the holiday seasons.

Also, TV shows are always released season by season. But sometimes in the end, they'll release a massive boxset that has everything bundled in it. Or they'll package several seasons together at a reasonable price.

Take Buffy The Vampire Slayer for instance. I bought The Chose Collection with all seven seasons in it. That massive boxset by itself was steal, and I even got a 25% off that price. I paid $176.99 (Canadian) for it, before taxes.

I'm waiting patiently for great series like The X-Files and The Simpsons to be possibly released as a massive collection.

Sometimes, even just looking around, you'd get nice deals. I bought Season 1 of 24 for $29.99 Canadian, which is pretty good.

I keep my eyes open for stuff like that.

But then again, sometimes you just don't want to wait that long to watch your favourite shows. No way in hell am I waiting for Batman TAS boxsets to be bundled together at a reasonable price. I bought them right away at the initial release of each volume.

The only TV I have on DVD is Bucky O'Hare - The Complete Series. Mind you, even that's a bootleg because it's only out in the wrong damn region. I have been thinking about starting to buy the South Park series though. Really, I'm just too cheap for TV box sets.

I was hoping that The X-Files would get released in a Complete Series Collection, or something like, since I haven't seen that much of the show even though it looks interesting. But, this show has already been released about three times already between the original run, the Mythology sets (I know they weren't the whole series, but it was a lot of the episodes), and the recently released thinpak sets. I still hope they might consider releasing the whole series in one set, but I doubt that will actually happen.

I usually don't buy TV on DVD sets, but I've made the following exceptions:

Chappelle's Show Season 2 This show was just great. I also missed about half the episodes, so I figured why the hell not. Plus the Rick James episode was a classic.

Band of Brothers Now normally I would have never purchased this. Not sure why, but I decided to download one of the episodes via torrent (Carentan). I was astounded by the episode, and decided to buy them. Only problem is that the Box set is actually a Tin, and runs around $100. I put off buying it for a year, in the meantime I had downloaded all the episodes. Though I STILL bought this because it was just that great.

Arrested Development Season 2 I thought this show as funny, and witty. I sucked hearing that Fox had cancelled the show, so I figured I should get the box sets. My secret santa actually gave me season 1, and I decided to buy season 2 on my own.

And to summarize, I rarely buy these things, and Band of Brothers is my favorite series of all time.

Off the top of my head, here is what I have in my DVD stash...

-Batman The Animated Series Volumes 1-4
-The X-Files Season 1-9
-Seinfeld Seasons 1-6
-House Season 1

Glad these were put on DVD, I never have much time to catch them on the tube at air dates.

My list is rather small:

Smallville || seasons 1-4
I started watching this show on the first episode of season 2. Since then I have been hooked. I really think the writers of this show have done an excellent job at portraying Clark Kent, and his world, during his teenage/young adult years.

The Shield || seasons 1-4
This show just kicks fucking ass. It's gritty, it's raw and NEVER holds back. This one puts all other cop shows to shame. Period!

LOST || season 1
Season 1 of LOST kept me addicted each and every week so I had to buy it upon release. Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing for season 2 up to this point. It just hasn't been as compelling or interesting. I'll probably still pick it up when it comes out but this show mostly liking seen it's peak.

I'm thinking about picking up all 4 seasons of 24 now. I just started watching it at the start of the current season and I am really enjoying it. So many people have been telling me to tune in but I just never did. I really enjoy the real-time aspect of it. Keifer Sutherland is doing one hell of a job as Jack Bauer. I may have to wait on buying this set though.

I would also like to pick up whichever seasons of In Loving Color have come out. I used to love that show. Guys like Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx and the Wayans Bros. got their start there so I'd love to relive it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

24 Season 1 - I watched most of this when it was first on TV. I thought that it was about time i watched the rest of it, and also it was fairly cheap.
Alias Season 1 - I got this becasue i missed it when it was on TV and i really liked the look of it.
Dark Angel Season 1 - Sci- fi, Jessica Alba. I'll say no more
Futurama Season 2 + 3 - This show is the best, really funny even after several watches.
Firefly - A friend got me into this, otherwise i would never have known about it. Fantastic.
Lost Season 1 - I watched just about every episode on TV, but the '118' guys got too much for me in the end. No more ad-breaks

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Invader Zim (Volumes 1 - 3)
One of the edgiest cartoon's I've ever seen. It may come off as "goth", but I couldn't care less (even if I think the "goth scene" is retarded). I enjoy it and think it's funny, end of story.

Firefly
Oh Nathan Fillion, you are thespian of unparalleled talent. <3

Home Movies
(Seasons 1 - 3)
Brendon Small rocks the guitar like none other. Might I also add that Starboy & The Captain of Outer Space are the bestest heroes of all time?

Battlestar Galactica
(Season 1 USA release)
This is the version that came packed with the s1 episodes and the miniseries. Even if the show goes a little overboard at times it's still highly watchable. From the first minutes of 33 to the last seconds of Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II I love every moment.

24 (Season 1 & 3)
I liked the show when it wasn't all a bunch of overdone cliche nonsense.

The recently released thinpaks versions are much, much cheaper than the initial boxsets. They're up to, what, season 5 now?

Once they reach the end, you don't think there's a chance they'll be releasing the whole thing in one giant set?

If not, I'm considering just buying these new releases, as the prices of the old boxsets were way out of my comfort zone.

Actually, they're up to season 6 now, with seasons 7-9 coming out on June 6th. I wish once they did reach the end they would release one giant set, but because these are so much cheaper I doubt they will. Unless they make the set a bundle of all the thinpak releases for the same price as they are now, I just don't see it happening.

But then again, they are releasing new Buffy thinpak sets, even after they already made the Chosen Collection. So I guess The X-Files taking the opposite route, releasing the thinpaks first and then a complete collection, wouldn't be too farfetched. But even if they don't release one, I'll probably still wind up getting these thinpaks.

I like to get good TV SHOWS on DVD since, some of the times, there quite cheap for how many hours of material you get.

- 100 LIMITES, Best Of
A French Canadian TV Show featuring one of the funniest group of humorists around.

- Chick 'N Swell - Season 1 & 2
Another French Canadian TV Show. This one features low-budget sketches with some really far-out, absurd humor.

Clerks - The Animated Series
This IS the kind of show that should've replaced Family Guy.

- Curb Your Enthusiasm - Season 1 & 2
I never, EVER get tired of this show! Hope to get the following seasons soon!

- Family Guy Volume - 1 & 2
Was a fan when it came out, but now, it just became repetitive and boring. Still a few laughs on the first few episodes.

- Futurama - Volume 1, 2, 3 & 4
One of the most underrated animation show ever! I can't believe it got cancelled. If you watch animated shows that are on TV right now, apart from King of The Hill, this show has the best writing.

- George Carlin's BACK IN TOWN & YOU'RE ALL DISEASED!
Well, those were produced for HBO, so, I'll list them as a TV show. What more can I say that hasn't been said about George Carlin?

- Kenny VS Spenny - Season 1
My god! I started watching that show last winter and I became hooked! For those who never heard of it, it's a reality show where two best friends do random competitions to prove who's the best. Those competitions range from childish "First one to talk loses!" to degrading "Who's the better Women?". The Loser is punished by a Humiliation.

- Message à Caractère Informatif
This is an obsure French TV Show from Europe. Two guys take various tapes from the 70s and 80s that were used to document employees on different companies and they re-dubbed the whole thing. It's quite hilarious.

- ReBoot: My Two Bob's - Daemon Rising
Fan of the show since I was 8.

- Ren & Stimpy - Season 1 & 2
Love the animation, design and weirdness of that show.

- Rock et Belles Oreilles - Years 1989-1990 & Years 1994-1995
One of the most influencial Comedy Groups in Quebec, kinda-like Monthy Python a bit.

- SNL: Best of Will Ferrel - Volume 1
I love that guy!

- The Simpsons - Season 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7
The best show on TV!...except after Season 10

- South Park - Season 1, 2, 3, 5, 6
THE Best show on TV right now, they just keep getting better and better!

- Spaced - The Complete Collection
I hate sitcoms, but THIS. This my friend is one of the best thing to ever graced TV. A British sitcom by the same band who did 'SHAUN OF THE DEAD' and the coming soon 'HOT FUZZ'. Genius at his peak!

- SPAWN - The Complete Series
....love that series. Wish they had continued.

What, they're releasing Buffy thinpaks? Even after the Chosen Collection (which I just bought three months ago)? Wow you're right -- May 30th is the day they're releasing them. And it looks like they're releasing ALL SEVEN boxsets at the same time.

Yeah, but for $40 each, it's still cheaper to get the Chosen Collection. But since that was only supposed to be a limited edition, I guess they felt the need to offer something cheaper than the original sets while being easier to find than the Chosen Collection.

The Chosen Collection is a limited release? In that case, I'm glad I purchased mine.

Will the new thinpaks include new/extra content that wasn't in the original boxsets?
