^You wish.

After careful consideration and reviewing things, I have decided and have bought the Japanse version of PSU. This will be the first time I have ever imported a video game. I should recieve the game in 9 days, excluding sundays. From there I should be able to get net cash from someone in the PSUJP irc channel. I've never been able to explain my situation with PS online, but I am tired of going down with the ship. I'm sick of being subject to unenjoyment due to a disgruntled community and hackers. I did not wont to be in the same position in PSU as I was in PSOGC. Im going to put my money and time in something that will last and make me happy >:/. No more seeing NO ONE online, no more seeing people running around with unreleased shit and no more me not having anything to do because there is no games available and the bunchs that are locked. Some of those members are weake minded, They'd rather complain and not take action. Well I'm taking action and moving on.

Aaaaaaaaand I quit PSU. The JP hackers on PSU were low key for the most part, but they just recently decided to start acting a fool like the US hackers and start creating S rank weapons for the public. Except Sonic Team caught wind and took immediate action to stop it, doing emergency server maintenance and releasing a patch to address it.

Meanwhile, the US servers had problems for the last two months, and Sonic Team did absolutely NOTHING. So fuck 'em. They can keep their game. I'm not going to continue paying them a monthly fee so they can give us second-rate service, bunch of racist assholes. They won't lift a finger until their precious Japanese customers are affected.

Guess this gives me a lot more time to finish Rogue Galaxy and Ar Tonelico...

Yeah... I decided to hop on PSU for a bit out of boredom and the game was just down the crapper with hacks and what not.

If I play this game it will probably just be story mode... since I don't feel like getting the Japanese version.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I believe you.

Never play FFXI, is all I can tell you. That game will make you grow a dislike for the japanese. They do not like playing with americans, and they feel they are above the american players, in both skill and intellect.

I had a few Japanese player friends when I played FFXI. I liked to stick to Japanese groups just because things would usually run more smoothly that way. But I also played on a server that didn't have many people on anymore, so if you wanted to party with a full group, you had to team up with Japanese players.

They never seemed that hateful to me. Maybe I just haven't played long enough. ;_;

That's the thing, those are the few you'll have the luck meeting up with. I have made just 2 JP friends. But otherwise they all have that "JP ONRY" attitude.

The trick is to make it so they don't know you are an American, then they won't stuff you full of hate :P

Although there are exceptions to the whole "WRAH WRAH GAIJIN BAKA GTFO B&&&&&&&" stereotype, as a lot of people won't care where you come from as long as you can do your job and do it efficiently.

Language barrier might be a problem though!

I played FFXI extensively. I got ninja to level 74 and monk to 72. It's much like the US population... you have a large assortment of jerks and a few "diamonds in the rough" so to speak.

The temptation to return to FFXI is there, though the reasonable side of me suggests I wait for their next-gen MMO. No matter how it turns out, I'll know that I'll be able to play it and not have to deal with Square selectively updating just the Japanese players. Sega can bite me. What they pulled with PSU was the final straw.

So, several things have been cleared up based on some discussion with someone who used to play PSUJP and is on 360.

As it turns out, PSUJP is not as "hacker free" as some are lead to believe. In fact, it has quite a fair bit of cheating going on. Illegitimate content is being sold on Yahoo auctions Japan, much like what was going on at eBay for the US servers.

Therefore, the fix that Sonic Team applied really did in fact, take them forever to come up with, and that means they aren't racist, they're just really that incompetent. Whichever you think is worse is up for grabs of course, but for me... I can stomach incompetence, but I can't stomach racism. Since it's the former and not the latter, I shall continue playing.

Looks like a sequel to PSU is already in the works. I'm actually kinda of surprised since I thought PSU didn't do al lthat well. Anyway, here are some scans and information pulled from psoworld:

Scan 1
Scan 2
Scan 3

Weapons Types - Three new weapon types including a Photon Whip, Slicer, and the Madoog. The Madoog is a left-handed TECHNIC weapon that resembles a Phantasy Star Online Mag. Known Madoogs include the Soniti and Sato.
Weapons - Several new weapons will be added, including several classic Phantasy Star Online ones. Examples of the PSO-type weapons include the Holy Ray and a Durandal replica.
SUVs and Photon Arts - The scans show two new SUV attacks that include a very large sword and another with a Heavens Punisher type attack. Also, new Photon Arts will be introduced.
Stages and Enemies - The scans state that one of the new fields will be based in the remnants of Rozenom City. Also, there will be new enemies, one of which looks like the Grass Assassin, and bosses. Based on the pictures, it looks like one of them is based on Del Rol Le.
Clothing - PSO-style clothing will be included in this game. On various screens, you can see a character wearing an Ash-type Humar outfit.
Rappy-Themed Casino - One of the screens features a Rappy-themed casino.

This might be enough motivation for me to finish the offline story mode of PSU and to fully explroe the online mode. I made it to level 30 or so before growing bored of it. I heard about the cheating and everything. Is the online mode like fully unlocked now? Is there actually an end boss or anything like that?

I was speaking idiomatically.

I've had PSU on the backburner for a little while now, and now that they announced this expansion, PSU will remain on the backburner until the expansion ships. This basically tells me that they shipped out PSU Lite and are planning to give us the real game now. It's kind of aggravating, but I'm a sucker and will fork the money over, but I won't be putting any more money toward its current incarnation.

I will continue to play just for the sake of seeing my boyfriend and playing with him, (Long distance till I'm done with my education), and will continue to lvl up. The expansion is VERY good news, and will get it as soon as its avaliable.

Did PSU do well in Japan? Cause that may be why its getting a expansion, there seems to be a number of Asian players as well, since the scans were from a Chinese forum.

I haven't touched this game since the first month it's been out. I've been wanting to come back to it, but a limited budget keeps me from shelling out $10 a month. Plus, reading about glitches and cheats almost put me off completely, and now there's this expansion pack (actually it seems to be a completely seperate game). Would I have to start from scratch with the new game?

What I'm more interested in is how the game's running currently. How is the community? Is it still active? Have any bugs been sorted out? GAF seems pretty pissed about the game overall, so I'm wondering if it's worth going back or not.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I like how in those scans, Ethan is suddenly Sephiroth.

Also, it seems they're trying to draw people back in with more direct PSO references. I'd bite, but probably won't

LOL Did PSU do well in Japan she asks.

They have 2 worlds and like 50 fucking universes ; ; ALL FULL. It's flopping here but that doesn't matter when japanese players alone can support an entire online game. So yes it is doing well over there and it will always be because of Japan that our version wont get axed, or forgotten or some shit.

I forgot to deactivate my online account after I stopped playing. I logged on yesterday just to see how things were doing online. All universes were empty. Universe 2 had 3 stars. I actually feel kinda sorry for this game. I remember when this game was first announced that I was thinking this would be the coolest online Phantasy Star game ever. And now look at it. The game didn't even last half a year. I liked the new ideas they had with this game. The only reason I stopped playing because of Sega keeping so much content locked. After I've explored everything I want to go on rare weapon hunts like the good old PSO days. But to this day I don't think there aren't any ulocked, and if there are, you have to go through a long process of finding the rare pieces and hoping you can build it with a really small chance of success.

I wanted to play again once everything was unlocked to see all the photon arts and bosses. But now I wonder if I could even manage that since it would be fairly impossible to find a team to work with.

Yes PC/PS2 is pretty dead you can say. 360 has a lot of PC/PS2 refugees. And a universe is empty when it has no star. This happened a few times in the last couple of days. Testing this out, 1 person = blank star. So those blank stars could all mean one person is on those unis. Meh, ok, ITS STILL EMPTY but it's better they have some kind of star. I'm able to play the game some now because I joined a PSU IRC channel. But before, there was very little I could do outside of the hive. And well friends who have circles don't seem to let new people in.
