Apparently, they also gain the ability to turn into a form called ZX which is a mixture between the X and Zero form as well as a form from each of the Gaurdians(Harpuia,Leviathan,Shadow and Fefnir) from Mega Man Zero.

I'm positive that there will be more to the story though.

lets just hope there's no sigma live metal >.>. If they aren't going to make anymore zero games.. then capcom should be able to have a full explanation in the ZX game. Also.. it struck me when i saw this screenshot around the time of january..

when i look at that.. im thinking to myself "that background in the water reminds me of the battle with sigma in X5 when they show zero and x's capsule". cause thats what it looks like to me u.u.

EDIT : huge update from atomic fire

Quote:
In a world where technology advanced greatly, humans and the machine lifeforms built by humans, called Repliroids, coexisted peacefully until some Repliroids began to go out of control and attack humans. Inevitably this led to a long lasting war between humans and Repliroids, which was ended by the heroic actions of some. Mankind and Repliroids again began to work toward peaceful coexistance.

Humans began to develop machine bodies for themselves and gain the power of Repliroids, and in turn Repliroids developed finite lifespans. Eventually this led to the erasing of the boundary between humans and Repliroids. Life continued like this for hundreds of years.

In time, the people of the world (who were once humans and Repliroids) managed to revive some of the former nations of the world. However, preventing further prosperity like the days of old, incidents here and there around the world began wherein some of the machine lifeforms went berserk (refered to as Irregulars), making some areas dangerous, and soon this activity obstructed exchange between nations. These areas prohibited to nations became known as "Outer."

Thus, the nations of the world became divided into areas designated as "Inner," where it was safe for people to live, and "Outer," where the dangerous Irregulars appeared. Great developments were made due to the efforts of the corporation "Serpent Company," which possesses technology unearthed from historic ruins in the Outer areas. Peaceful life was maintained by receiving the technology offered by the Serpent Company in the central areas of cities.

In the frontier regions where the crisis management of countries still doesn't reach, damage from attacks by Irregulars has occured at times. The people in these areas developed the self defense organization known as "Guardian." They defend the frontier regions and investigate the cause of the Irregular element.

In more detail, it's mentioned that the Serpent Company uses the technology developed from historic ruin finds essentially as a lifeline for the cities, providing goods to the people such as energy resources. It is not necessarily a bad thing that the company has more or less grasped the lifeline of the cities, at least for the people in those cities. The Serpent Company is named after its own president, Serpent. Serpent is considered a wonderful person who raised the company on his own by excavating the ancient techology sleeping in the Outer areas. Furthermore, he has arranged a Mechaniloid army in his company, and is said to have repeatedly saved countries from Irregular attacks in the past.

On the other hand, the Guardians in the frontier regions are considered to be unassociated private ventures. They make the "Guardian Base," a gigantic flying ship, their headquarters, and they take people on a volunteer basis to not only defend the frontier areas but also investigate the Irregular source. The original leader of Guardian disappeared during the investigation of an Outer area, and command has been taken over by the young girl named Prairie.

In the game, Vent and Aile will be playable by choice, as opposed to taking turns playing as them in certain areas of the game. it is unknown at this time how much the story will be affected whether you play as one or the other.

As the story of ZX starts, Vent and Aile's senior, Silve, who carries out his own business "Silve Express" which sends anything, from letters to weapon, to anywhere, regardless if it's legal or not, receives a request from Prairie to transport the Live Metals "Model X" and "Model Z." The Live Metals, of course, are the mysterious metal unearthed from ancient ruins that are said to possess data from the past, and their use can allow one to aquire new knowledge and abilities.

Following their usual work, Silve and Vent (or Aile) arrive to the point where they are to meet their consignee. When they receive communitcation with their client from Guardian, there's suddenly an Irregular attack. Vent's/Aile's motorcycle is shot and explodes. As a result, being blown away by the blast, Vent/Aile fall down a cliff.

When Vent/Aile, who fell down to the bottom of the cliff with their cargo, surveys the area, they see a floating, shining object. Suddenly the girl declares that she's the one of Guardian who ordered their service appears. There is barely enough time for introductions as the Irregular atrtack continues. A large snake type Mechaniloid appears, putting them all in a predicament. However, Vent/Aile take the shining object, the Live Metal they were carrying, and become enveloped in light. Using the R.O.C.K. System, they activate the Model X and transform to defeat the snake Mechaniloid, wielding such abilities like the double charged shot. Their next objective is to travel to Inner.

Lots of visuals of the world of ZX are present in the report, as well as character images. On the first page we see Serpent, Prairie and some of the Guardian members. The second page shows some more scenes of Vent, Aile and Silve. It also seems the game will contain animated footage, which should excite many people.

Serpent will be voiced by Yanada Kiyoyuki.
Prairie will be voiced by Hirohashi Ryou.
Silve will be voiced by Kazama Yuuto (who voiced Zero in the Zero series).

Personally, I imagine the Serpent Company will turn out to be an enemy in some form. We once again have this setup, similar to the Zero series, of a privileged, catered to society versus a neglected society scraping by to maintain themselves. It should also be noted that the boss meters are marked with a snake-like "S." Only time will tell how ZX truly unfolds.
this is good information so far.

How ya doing, buddy?

yeah, the music in mega man games is usually good. i liked the NES games' music mostly, as well as the gameboy ones, but games like mega man 8 really lacked in the music department in my opinion.

also, mega man 2 for gameboy is possibly the worst commercially-released gameboy game in terms of music. high-pitched, whiny, chords that have missed notes, off-key notes, and senseless melody / lack of harmony designs make it pretty horrible.

the x series has had good music overall, at least.

I guess the the parts that we did have of the story wern't to far off.

Is there any question that Serpent Company's going to turn out the villain here? I mean, not only does Vent/Aile get attacked by a giant snake-like Irregular but it's life meter has a S-like symbol on it.

And who's betting that some character has Vile-like Live Metal?.

Oh, and for images that came with that update:Click Here.

I agree, I really wish that they would stick with the old 2d style. I think that they've ruined the series. What happened to bad ass X jumping around with his X Buster fully charged, ready to take out Wiley and his boss robots? Well, actually, since it's X jumping around, he would be going after Sigma and his Maricks... Well, enough of that, either way, I want to play a good megaman game. Or a good new Sonic game for that matter, non of this Riderz shit.

Never been wild about the cutesy art style, especially when they're trying to present a serious storyline, but it's functional.

It's sounding pretty good, so far. I have to give the MM Zero team credit for managing to have a far more coherent storyline that the X games. Actually having the balls to let the endings of Zero 3 and 4 stand, and just introduce some new characters instead. Unheard of.

not just that , but also the music being a strong point in the games. take part 1 for example. it had a serious evil-like theme. I accepted it only causethe ending to that was just another battle won but the war was still going when he slashed a few robots.

IMO , they should make at least ONE more Zero game to end it off. if not then i still accept Z4's ending. I can what capcom was going with the Zero series. Another thing i want to mention is i think Capcom is taking their sweet ass time with Megaman X9. i wont be suprised if they make it for ps3.

Maybe he meant, music sound.

It was a nice trailer though. I thought it'd be a lot less. There really seems like a lot of variety is in the game.

I'm sold. The level design looks awesome. Looks like it's not much of a technical leap past the Zero games (which doesn't bother me any) but the larger DS screen does wonders for the game. I am totally going to have to mug my brother for his DS.

I was pretty surprised myself that you're able to handle the power of the 4 Guardians from the Zero series. Now that we basically know that X or Zero aren't present there at all, we can just play through it without wondering if Sigma returns again ^^;.

You probably already know this, but gamevideos.com has a neat 'features' trailer for this game. It has a lot of the content from the previous no-bgm video from IGN but with more information. You should check it out, it's worth it.

Also, from Atomic Fire.
Quote:
Pandora: A mysterious girl who participates in actions with Prometheus. Usually she's docile and rarely shows emotion, but in times of battle she uses electric and ice attacks via two remote controlled options and makes sport of her enemies. Voiced by Shizuk Itou.

Prometheus: A mysterious warrior whose true nature is completely unknown. When he appears before Vent (Aile), he'll stand in their way countless times, as if testing their power. He exudes ambition from his piercing eyes to his fearless grin. He violently wields a large scythe and burns away his enemies with hellish fire. Voiced by Daisuke Kishio.

-Live Metal abilities-

By defeating a Forceroid twice, the Live Metal that comes from that Forceroid can be powered up, which results in a new charged shot.

Model HX's charged shot is Plasma Bit, an electric ball that flies in the direction of enemies. Powered up, it becomes the Plasma Cyclone, which creates a tornado.

Model FX's charged shot is Megaton Crash, which shoots large fireballs. Powered up, it becomes the Ground Break, which sends waves of fire along the ground.

Model LX's charged shot creates an ice chunk with the halberd that can be ridden on. Powered up, it produces an ice dragon that flies in the direction of enemies.

Model PX's charged shot fires a cross shaped shuriken that returns like a boomerang. When powered up, it allows you to create a barrier that blocks common enemy projectiles.

Each model is also shown an example of a special route that only that model can make it to by using its special abilities.

-Boss characters-

Luar the Abysroid: An enormous lantern fish type Forceroid that became stronger using the Live Metal Model L's data. Using the cute lure coming from her head she charms opponents into unprepardedness, then suddenly become violent and attack with her true, enormous form.

Stage: Lake at the snow mountain. Though faint, a rescue signal from a Guardian exploration party is discovered in Area F. A Forceroid reaction is also detected, and you must go to the rescue of the exploration party.

Fistreo the Predatoroid: A lion type Forceroid that became stronger using the Live Metal Model F's data. Calling himself "carnage," he lends his power to a certain plan for the sake of gaining strength to the end of his limits. He is uninterested in weak people.

Stage: Burning buildings. It's become clear that an Irregular troop is moving into an urban area. You must go to the city outskirts in order to save the people who were slow to escape.

-Technical Finish System-

In order to get the Live Metals you must defeat the bosses that posses them. If you strike a boss in the area it carries its Live Metal the boss will receive great damage, but the Live Metal will also become damaged, so you must avoid attacking the Live Metal as much as you can. This is the Technical Finish System.

When receiving a Live Metal, you'll get from a Lv 1 to a Lv 4 depending on the damage condition, and the higher the level the more charged attacked you can fire when you Double Rock On.

Also, even in the case you do receive a damaged Live Metal, if you repair it with E-Crystals you can recover its Lv. E-Crystals can be obtained when you're on missions and quests.

That's an interesting wrinkle. The bosses have a weak point, but you want to avoid it. Explains what they're doing with the second screen, too.

At least Capcom is being merciful and giving you a margin of error. I have to say, the unforgiving ranking system in the first few games that would cut you off from the boss' special weapons if you so much as took a hit in the level was extremely annoying. The later gimmick of giving you weapons if you played the stage in 'hard mode' was much better thought out.

Of course, arguably the people who NEED the special weapons are the ones who would have to gun for the boss' weak point.

I was speaking idiomatically.

All four Megaman Zero games have an unlockable "hard" mode of sorts in addition to the standard difficulty settings. Basically, it limits you to single sword attacks, the basic pellet shot, and no special weapons. You have to nibble away at enemies. I think they up your defense so you're not completely crippled, though.

WHAT. This is just for you, my friend. Here's a video of Omega in ZX. He's an optional boss, don't worry about story spoilers, but this looks like the kind of difficulty you want.

He was pretty easy with Model ZX's Buster. I didn't waste a single Sub Tank on him. As for Model OX, I just need to finish the game. I already put in Rockman Zero 3 & 4 to defeat those older bosses. I'm also trying to find that Quick Charge Power Up as well. :S
